NFT: Folks in ventura Co. (CA) hurting ...

Manny in CA : 11/10/2018 1:30 am

We were just able to reach my brother-in-law in Westlake (we worried about their safety with the big fires there).

They went to a memorial for the shooting victims at Thousand Oaks on Wednesday, and just a few hours later their home was surrounded by fire. They evacuated (don't know if their home survived).

They went to friends home in Calabasas, only to have to evacuate from there. So now they're in Simi Valley, and now that community is being threatened by the fire !

Here's a good article of how people are trying to help each other through the hell they are facing ...

I’m really sorry about your family. I hope they stay safe. It’s truly incredible how fast these fires spread.

He hast thousands of dollars invested in to a home recording studio. The insurance will help very little. Right now, I don't think that matters. He, the wife and kids got out alive.

I suggest steering clear of Trump's twitter feed.

I don't remember the air being overcome with smoke for days for most of my life here in California, but it's happened multiple times over the past three years. And Southern California will have to deal with debris flows this winter if it rains heavily at all.
That really sucks

Glad they’re OK. Hope they stay safe and can pull their lives together quickly.

Conditions in California have just been horrible. They need a few years of above average rainfall.
Crazy out there right now

And, she had tickets to some fund raising event at the Borderline Bar for next Friday. This shit is getting way too close too home

But . . . Just as those who live on or near the coast are susceptible to storms and those along rivers to floods. Those that live in or near wooded, fire prone areas have to plan and expect these things to happen. Unfortunately, fires in windy conditions can spread quickly and with little warning.

Wildfires are a natural occurrence and help maintain an ecological balance. You are not going to stop things like this from happening and must be planned for as best you can. You must also hold those accountable who are responsible for starting fires either accidentally or on purpose.
Best of luck
