Trade down partners

Jaguars, Broncos, cowboys bucs might be teams that need a QB and giants could switch first round picks and get multiple picks and still be in position to get a very good player
Jags and Cowboys

are going to be too far to trade down too.

Most likely suitors are:
Raiders
Broncos
Dolphins
It is just about a certainty

That the Giants will be going in a new direction at quarterback next season. Although it is not a foregone conclusion that quarterback will be in the draft, if that is the case, it would be difficult to trade too far down and still get their guy.
An ideal situation

The Giants would have the 1st overall pick. If they don't love Herbert or any other QB in the draft but Oakland falls in love with Herbert. They trade up to 1 and the Giants fall back one or two spots and still get the guy they wanted while picking up ammunition to get Tua next year.

NEVER
What gives you confidence that these guys would succeed

with lower picks?

Barkley and Hernandez were picked with the 2nd and 34th picks overall. The only other guy to come out of the draft as anything was Hill. While everyone is taking victory laps over the great draft, remember that the Giants hadn't drafted this high in a very, very long time. I'm not so sure dropping back and getting more picks is going to do them any favors.
Are you saying unlike those teams, the Giants don't need a QB?

What games have you been watching this year?

I think the guideline was if they didnt love Herbert or Jones.

Carters been fine for a rookie 3rd round pick doing mainly spot duty.

Carter has flashed and I think he’s going to be a good player. Pass rushers don’t typically come out of the gate and light the league on fire.

To the Raiders.

Top 10 right now too.

QBs
CV36 : 11/11/2018 1:55 pm : link
Dues to a hectic work schedule I haven’t watched any college games the last two seasons. There are short hype videos but I don’t put much weight in them. There seem to be 4 QBs talked about. Herbert, Jones, Haskins and Costello.
What say you BBI?

Are you asking if there is the chance that DG is fired? Well in BBI fashion, people love to speak in absolutes so there is a 99.98% chance that DG will be making the pick. Whether people like him or not, DG will be given ample time to mold the roster that supports his philosophy. Keep in mind that DG's philosophy is opposite of what Reese believed in. DG will have a few years to enact his vision.

Lorenzo Carter is playing exactly as most of us expected. His pass rush skills are raw but he has flashed.

This sounds like a great scenario. Unfortunately, the Giants don't live in a vacuum. Every year there are always teams that are looking for their franchise QB. If there is a putrid team sitting at 1 and they need a QB, and Tua looks to be that good, all the picks in the world will not move them off their spot. Can't always rely on teams trading down especially if they have needs and a future All-Pro is waiting to be picked in their spot.. I highly doubt that the Giants would be this bad again next year, that they have the #1 pick. Gotta play the cards they are dealt, fix this dumpster fire known as an OL, and shore up the other positions.

Yea I think the Giants got 4 quality players in the draft. Maybe 5 depending on McIntosh. Drafts like that are what separate the quality teams from the shitty teams.

If the Giants get another 4-5 quality players in the draft next year they’ll be on their way.

You sure about dallas? Their second half schedule doesn’t get any easier. They have 6-10 or 5-10 written all over them.

The Jags are 3-6.

And despite the criticism of Blake, their defensive secondary looks lost. They have a tremendous amount of talent on defense, but all too often their opponents are scoring with defenders looking around for someone to blame. They catch Pitt next week, and Pitt will be looking to exact some revenge from last year. It could get ugly with them at 3-7 next week. I could see them looking to trade up and get a QB cause Blake isn't going to be able to elevate them.
Why would this team
Vin_Cuccs : 11/11/2018 9:40 pm : link
trade down with a team that needs a QB when they desperately need a QB themselves?
