Just making an observation watching the Redskins-Bucs game. Washington is dealing with O-lineman getting injured right and left, and having to pull guys off the street. Yet their line still looks competent. Why can’t we do this? They sign guys like Austin Howard and Johnathan Cooper and look fine after three days of practice. We sign high priced FA’s who look lost week in and week out. Something is seriously up with our scouting department. Frustrating to watch.
So the giants OL is fine the way it is?
I would also give Russ Grimm a call and see if he is willing to come out of retirement.
Richburg is one of the one worst ranked centers in football. Saying the 49ers are happy with his play is like saying the Giants are happy with Nate Solder's play. The 49ers signed Richburg to a 5 year $47.5 contract and he has been a massive disappointment and by far the weak link on that OL.
Put Fluker and Flowers at guard and feed Saquon all day

Is having a pro bowl season and the niners are happy with richburgs’ play. It is coaching combined with an immobile skittish QB that makes the Giants line look bad.

Yeah by all accounts Richburg has struggled this season. The Giants were wise to let him and Pugh walk. Now let's hope that they draft a few solid replacements.

You mean Hernandez and Fluker?
“He’s added a ton,” 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said on Thursday. “He’s been as good as any center that I’ve had and he’s been one of the main reasons why we’ve been able to run the ball as well as we have despite our injuries . . . Guys love him here and he’s really helped us.” [/quote]

Fluker is also not having a pro bowl season. PFF has him ranked about average in the NFL for a guard. Because he is great at run blocking and one of the worst pass blocking guards in football. That isn't a pro blow guard.
If the Redskins fire Gruden after the season the Giants should make a run at Callahan. Obviously Munchak would be the top choice if his contract expires but I doubt Pittsburgh let's him leave.
Callahan and a call to recently retired Russ Grimm would be my next moves. The Giants should have kept Mike Solari around as he has been praised for his work with Seattle's line this season. It's obvious that the players were the problem not him.

That's nice he says that. The Giants coaches use to say nice things about Ereck Flowers. They said nice things about Omameh. They say nice things and Nate Solder too. But in reality Richburg has been ranked one of the worst centers in the league and that almost $30 mill in guaranteed money looks like an awful deal.
The giants have sucked across the whole line though. A team that needs to plug in a guy can manage with at least adequate talent, and mental toughness for the pro game
You're right it is very frustrating. Earlier in Eli's career they were able to insert guys like Kevin Boothe, Grey Ruegamer, Bob Whitfield, etc. and they wouldn't miss a beat.
has been draft failures even in the later rounds zero
development . It's Obvious Eli's mobility is as bad as it gets not that he was ever a threat to run but his range is
next to nothing you get within a yard of Eli and its a sack
but this season with the play of Soldier has magnified it.
Solder was an average left tackle last year. If anyone thinks that in just six months he suddenly forgot how to play and became the worst left tackle in the game, then you are smoking something. His performance right now looks like he could be the worst in the league but I am willing to bet that the other factors I referenced above played a big part in it.
Is it really possible that every OL we drafted and every OL we signed via free agency were just THAT bad? Do you know the odds on missing on virtually every guy over the past 6-7 years?
Fluker was good last year too. Just hurt, like he's been this year and remember he's on a 1 year deal with Seattle.
Richburg was outplayed last year by Brett Jones. He just flat out not good. Justin Pugh is hurt all the time time. Still.
Solari was credited for his years in KC during the early 2000's where he was responsible for the best OL in the league.
So how does a skittish QB account for the fact that SB gets hit sooner than any starting RB in the league, on avg less than one yard! Or is the run game Eli’s fault too?
Wasn’t Hunter let go by the Browns?

Bill Callahan is an outstanding line coach. Next to Head Coach I think this is the most important coach especially with the CBA rules.

Why would the redskins fire Gruden, they are currently in first place. Well I guess there is the dan Snyder factor...
