Semi unrelated to Knicks
Melo might be waived by Houston
Ending to a non Hall of Fame career
Maybe Lakers /LeBron picks him up

Matchup tonight
Kanter vs Vucevic. Two players on expiring contracts could be on the move by deadline

Robinson vs Bomba. The Future for both teams
I can't see how Carmelo doesn't make the HOF

I see your point. I just feel he hasn’t won anything in the NBA
Selfish ball stopping player that has ended his career poorly
I can see Melo not making the Hall. His d has been mediocre or less

and on the offensive end, he stifles ball movement. He wouldn't get my vote.
Carmelo Anthony is 19th in scoring all time
B in ALB : 11/11/2018 6:17 pm : link
A few points behind Alex English (who won nothing) and 500 points behind Kevin Garnett.

Stop with the non - hall of fame craziness.

If Carmelo Anthony is considered a lock selection. That’s not even a dig at Melo, who has had a very good but not “great” career. There has to be a higher threshold for what is considered greatness.
Would be ironic if he resulted in D'Antoni getting fired twice

I think this is the salient point. I don’t think his NBA career deserves admission to the NBA Hall of Fame. Despite his prolific scoring, his deficiencies in nearly every other part of the game drag him down.

But there is no NBA Hall of Fame. It’s the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, and they weigh college and international accomplishments as well.

Exactly. I'm not much of a Melo fan but he will deservedly get in for a long list of accomplishments in the game of racquetball

JustaDiscussion : 11/11/2018 9:33 pm : link
I know his offense has been abominable lately, but him and Robinson seem like the only players on the Knicks who know how to play consistent defense. Frank only plays six minutes, the Knicks lose by 30... coincidence? At least we got to see a nice put back by Knox.

frank was part of the reason they were down 20 in the first quarter, he cant score, the starting lineup has 1 scorer in it...

Robinson is all defense..

vonleh is all rebounding..

dotson can hit some 3s and have a nice drive here and there...

hardaway is your scorer...

frank is a defensive point guard, who cant shoot...he needs to be able to knoc down wide open 3s otherwose he is useless...

if this team had a point guard
nygiants16 : 11/11/2018 9:48 pm : link
who could break down the defense and actually throw a lob pass or find the open guy the offense would be so much better..

it is why i want to see mudiay in the starting lineup, he can break down a defense unlike frank...

mudiay,tim, knox, vonleh, robinson

bench frank, trier, dotson, hezonja, kanter

i would really like kanter traded, he kills them defensively
I agree to an extent,
JustaDiscussion : 11/11/2018 9:53 pm : link
but it's not like this Knicks team is strong offensively regardless of whether Frank plays or not. As shown by their 89 point output tonight, mostly without Frank on the court, they have struggled offensively recently anyway. I personally feel that they might as well play some defense and hope Frank shoots himself out of his funk, but that's just my opinion.

I'd also look into varying the offensive sets a bit. It seems like teams have already picked up on what the Knicks are doing.
very true
nygiants16 : 11/11/2018 10:00 pm : link
without kp team relies way to much on hardaway, i just think it comea to a point where you have it or you dont and i know frank is only 20 and maybe 1 day he finds it but right now i dont see it and this is coming from someone who really wanted him...

he is jist way to passive, even wide open which is part of the reason he misses, he can not break down a defense and when he does get into the paint he hesitates so much he either misses or turns it over...

you see flashes when he puts his head down and gets to the rim but it is few and far between, i think he neeeds to sit a few games...he needs to reset...
5-28 from three.

it is easier when it is young players for the future and the team is finally building the right way and they actually have their pick
Mills and Perry should explore Frank's trade value.
bceagle05 : 11/11/2018 10:19 pm : link
If you could get a first, you'd have to seriously consider taking it. We don't have a starting point guard on this roster.
Per Ian Begley on Twitter October 9, 2018
JustaDiscussion : 11/11/2018 10:50 pm : link
"Something worth noting about Frank Ntilikina: dating back to the middle of last year, when teams call the Knicks about potential trades, one of the players they ask most often about is Ntilikina. To date, New York hasn’t had any interest in trading the second-year guard."

I'm glad the Knicks feel like Frank's defense is good enough to give him a long leash while he tries to develop an offensive game. I hope they continue to deny trade offers for at least another couple of years. I'm also glad that BBI doesn't make personnel decisions for the Knicks or the Giants.
Ntilikina demonstrates almost every game why Jackson's decision
GeofromNJ : 11/11/2018 11:26 pm : link
to pass on Dennis Smith Jr was the wrong decision. I doubt Ntilikina will ever be successful in the NBA. He's not a good point guard, he's not a good shooting guard, and he's not close to being small forward talent.
Let’s relax on frank
GMEN46 : 11/11/2018 11:36 pm : link
And who cares about Dennis Smith jR. He doesn’t play winning basketball and can’t lkay a lick of defense. I still think Frank will end up being a better all around player. He just needs minutes there will be ups and downs, but I think frank can be an all world defender and eventually become a 12-14 pt and 5-7 assist guy. With his defensive play that is plenty good enough in offense. I don’t care if Dennis smith scores 20 a night if he’s giving up 30 a night.
If You Wanted to Pass on Frank
Samiam : 11/11/2018 11:59 pm : link
That's a conversation. But Dennis Smith Jr is so not a good PG, it's not even worth a discussion. And, from the looks of his game, he'll never be one in my opinion. To me, Frank has an upside. Smith may be there already
Hardaway is awful
mattyblue : 11/12/2018 12:22 am : link
How long is that contract he signed?
I don't want to give Frank away
bceagle05 : 11/12/2018 12:32 am : link
and I certainly don't regret passing on Dennis Smith, but Frank has some major obstacles to overcome - weak handle, bad shot, lack of explosiveness, to name a few. Time is on our side with him, but it's ugly right now.

Great. He and Kanter an score 40 together and give up 60. Zero defensive players are killers unless They are bit bench players. Not a player who to freak out over passing on.

The whole DSJ thing is a dumb hill to die on. By all accounts the Knicks would likely have taken Mitchell if Frank wasn’t on the board. They even tried to trade back for a second first to take him. That’s the guy to be pissed at missing out on.

DSJ then Mitchell. Not hitting on Mitchell set us back years, but DSJ has turned out to be a dud too.

Frank, though, is not likely to turn into the next Greek Freak or Leonard, that much we know. Let’s face it, he was the pick because Phil didn’t guys who gets triple doubles and jump through the roof...

Clear his salary while he's top-15 in the NBA in scoring (at least I think he is). I'm sure a team would take him on. He'd be an excellent second or third scoring option.
Suns, Cavs, Hawks, Bulls and Knicks
bceagle05 : 11/12/2018 1:08 pm : link
are shaping up to be the bottom feeders this year. Right now the Wizards are there too, but that should change. Hopefully the Hawks and Bulls improve when their young studs - Collins and Markkanen - return from injury. Suns have plenty of young talent but don't have much to show for it yet. As for Cleveland...yikes.
