Jordan Raanan & #8207; Verified account @JordanRaanan 1m1 minute ago More Sources: Newly acquired Jamon Brown will start at right guard Monday night, 12 days after being claimed by the Giants. Brown started 16 games for Rams last yr. With Brown taking John Greco’s spot in lineup it will be Giants’ fourth different starting O-line combination in 9 games |
So if Pulley can handle the assignments, it might be (marginally) better long term if they keep him in at OC for the slight chance he develops into a capable center, even if it's just as depth.
Good post
As for locking down the position, the guy has not played a single down yet for us...
He will look great, even if only average, like Beason did....
Here is the kicker.....let's say he is an upgrade over Jerry/Omameh, and we want him.....he is an UFA next year, looking for that post rookie contract.....in a league starving for some semblance of talent in the OL, the Giants would probably have to overpay him also, just to keep him.....that's if, he even wants to be here....
But let's see him play first before we cross that bridge....
And I agree.....put Greco back at center....
Did Greco play center last year? I must have missed that!

If he plays well and they have to overpay to keep him, it’s still better than signing the next Jerry or Omameh. I’d rather them take a chance before giving him money, if he sucks then he’s just another name that will quickly be forgotten.
Who cares how old he is? He sucks.

Go with the younger player. Fuck Greco.

They both suck. But since Pulley is only 25, there's at least a small chance there's some untapped potential. Greco just blows.
What?

And Greco doesn’t? Pulley had a decent rookie season and started 16 games last year while playing injured. You’ve made the decision Pulley is worthless off what? A game? He may indeed suck but go with the younger player with starting experience over the old crusty vet with hardly any 10 times out of 10 imo.
I disagree. This ships already sunk. Now the salvage crews are circling.
Did he? Did he play well for the Chargers? I mean they waived him, after all.

Actually, no - Greco has played passably @ OC. It's the one spot he can play.
I've made the decision that Pulley is worthless based on the fact that he's shown nothing to suggest otherwise.
Why should anyone care that he started 16 games last year? How many games did Omameh start?
We have guys starting 16 games on this line every year who are awful. Tells me nothing.
If we want to evaluate the QB position, we should be at least trying to put the best OL we can out there.
Pulley isn't good. You'll figure it out soon enough.

No way they resign him after this year. I understood Pulley played well for the Chargers. Better to build off him or at least see if he's got a future here. If he does the Oline except Solder is young. Get a RT in the off season and maybe we have something.
Did he? Did he play well for the Chargers? I mean they waived him, after all.
IF you trust PFF, I think he started off well last season (first 3-4 games). From most reports though, his play tailed off, putting it mildly, after that.
lol....although, this is how bad teams discover players and improve. Happens all the time...........

To be honest only what I read in an article. He started 16 games for them and was hurt the latter part of the year.

Spelled Micheal..😎
I think the Giants do like Evan Brown since they have cut several players when they need a roster spot but he has spent the entire season on the roster. Brown could very well be the future at center or at least a serviceable backup. Pulley has proven that he isn't a starting caliber player but hopefully Brown will surprise. This team desperately needs another Seubert/O'Hara type.
Except he's from the Rams...

Yeah I think he was a top C via PFF in the beginning of the year but wound up finishing dead last amongst starters.
With a nice 1 win season going on, a lot of people here probably could have done a better job.

A 49ers castoff is going to start in less than 2 weeks, truly a sad state of affairs....
Except he's from the Rams...
See, even the giants fans are screwed up Lol.
Yes and no. From a strict X's and O's on any given play, the fan doesn't know the responsibilities of the player. But it doesn't take a fan with knowledge of the game to determine a player is at fault when the players are laying on their bellies like hogs in the mire while the defenders are bearing down on Eli.
At this point IRA you would be an improvement. They have to find a RT. I can not believe how desperate we are to find one quality OL. It really is pathetic.
In place of Jones.
If he comes back good by opening day, next year (and Brown works out), we may only have one hole on the O-line - right side tackle.
The biggest problem that would hold back a decent line is on the sidelines - Hal Hunter.

To show how pathetic the fans are, they've stooped to not even know what the fuck they are trying to insult!!
Only TV shots of the O-line on the bench is the whole group just sitting there confused and dazed. Hunter has NO answers for them (I've never seen him coaching-them-up.)
How do you know that's not in the game plan for tonight?
I hope you're right but I just don't have faith in Pulley. I am very interested in seeing Evan Brown in the starting lineup. He was my favorite UDFA signing and I think the coaching staff likes his upside. As with most rookie OL he needs to get stronger but he has upside.

Greco should have been moved back to OC and Pulley should be removed. He's awful.

Because I'm fairly certain Shurmur already said Pulley is remaining @ C.
The way this group evaluated offensive linemen this past offseason should be very worrisome to Giants fans.
They got rid of guys who were at least passable (Fluker, Jones) - they spent a lot of money on guys who have been really bad. Gettleman showered everyone with this "Hog Mollie" bullshit and promised he'd fix this - yet, the OL this year is just as bad, if not WORSE than last year.
Really scary times for us. The guys at the top seem poor at evaluating talent - which has been an issue here for a long time. Gettleman seems to think analytics are nonsense while most of the more successful, forward-thinking franchises are embracing them.
I have very little faith in anyone making decisions for the Giants right now.
Pasztor was available all Sept. and most of Oct. If the Giants wanted him, they had almost 2 months to pick him up for nothing. I doubt the Giants have any interest.

If after a couple games the Giants like him. It behooves the team to sign him sooner rather than later. If they sign him this year then some of his bonus/cap hit can be taken this year instead in future years.

with the Pulley/Greco talk and who is less bad at C, I still search for the rationale, a meaningful rationale, for sending Brett Jones to Vikes for a next year's 7th. I think there are not a few of us here, without rose colored glasses and acknowledging Jones' limitations, who believed he was the team's most consistent OL in '16 and '17. It does make me wonder about the guiding logic or motivation for some of the moves made in the off-season.

I agree arc, even when he was talking up "Hogmollies" in the spring, I was going, whoa, slow down. Mr Gettleman, What you've assembled here is not going to be much better than last year IF AT ALL. Of course BBI told me I didn't know what I was talking about...
I was in favor of trading back and trying to taget players like Nelson and McGlinchey. In retrospect it seems that was unrealistic to target both of them, but certainly McGlinchey and Ragnow were in reach. Both are playing well now...
