If your computer is essential to your role, your employer needs to fix the issue, and until then, you shouldn't be expected to meet the requirements of your position.

W10 was struggling over the Summer with a new patch that caused Chrome to freeze the screen. There was a patch for it in August on chrome and W10 so making sure everything is up to date is step number one. You can try to wake the screen when it happens with Windows logo key + Ctrl + Shift + B. I had the issue for a few weeks until MS patched it.
Chrome has been acting badly for me for the last month or more on an Apple OS device. It has frozen repeatedly (and I try to avoid Safari on the MacBookPro because I find it prone to seizures). In the last two weeks, on Twitter, my feed won't even populate with graphics or the standard GUI. Very weird--and annoying.

Wipe your computer clean and reload your programs. I don't know where you work but, bigger companies usually allot space for data on their servers. That way you won't lose anything.
I think he tried, but we have one of those 3rd party guys, so my RAM issue isn't very high on his priority list.
