Lorenzo Carter

Been focusing a bit more on him and think we really have something here. The roughing the passer on the last Niners drive could’ve been a back breaker but the fact he got the pressure and would be sack at that point in the game is what’s needed. Also got good pressure on the final play of the game where there was the holding call. Looking forward to him getting an off-season in the weight room and continuing to develop his pass rush skills. Very optimistic about the future for this rookie.
The problem is
mittenedman : 11/13/2018 8:18 am : link
he's not the ridiculous pass rushing force you want as a starting 34 OLB and he's not stout enough to be a fulltime ILB.

I do like him as a rotational piece, and that's a solid get in the 3rd.
Absolutely

He's a good one

He's in his first year. You will see a huge step up for him in Years 2 and 3. This guy is a keeper, and our ONLY legitimate pass rusher right now.

Have to agree and if the other side of the line would have applied any pressure I am sure he would look even better. He definitely seems to have great speed.
While watching Carter develop, I’m really tired of the unfulfilled

Promise of Vernon. Every year has been the same story. He looks great in preseason and then comes up with some injury that is an excuse for another subpar season. Time to move on.
I forgot we had Vernon
Rory B. Bellows : 11/13/2018 8:46 am : link
until about the 3rd quarter when the announcers mentioned him.

Zo looked good
What I like about Carter
Captplanet : 11/13/2018 8:53 am : link
is that he reminds me of Osi in his first year, long and fast. As Osi gained weight, power and pass rushing moves he became the player we all remember.
Carter hasn't been given enough of chance
jeff57 : 11/13/2018 8:55 am : link
to judge him as a pass rusher.

Wtf is wrong with people. He’s a rookie who has played minimal snaps. Only recently has his snap count picked up. And he is a force rushing the passer unfortunately he only has one move right now. He’ll work on moves and getting stronger. He’s absolutley going to be the starting OLB next year
To add to it
Tuckrule : 11/13/2018 9:05 am : link
He has a very quick first step. He’s one of the first off the line.

So you listen to patty on locked on Giants. Cool story at least give her the credit when it’s due. She does really good work on that show.
Zo Carter is going to be a stud
Rjanyg : 11/13/2018 9:08 am : link
He is 6'5" 250 and fast. He is a complete LB too. He is perfect for this type of defense with multiple fronts and looks.

I would love for NYG to get Josh Allen from Kentucky and have him bookend with Carter for a few years.

The problem is he's not Khalil Mack or Von Miller? Yeah, I guess.

This kid is going to be a very good player within the next couple of years. He's already a handful for offenses to contain and as he has become more and more disruptive. Some of the opinions on this thread are laughable. The kid has a lot to offer and could make it in a variety of roles. What really stood out to me though, and what is most impressive of all from last night, is that after the game he sought out the QB, Mullens, and from what little I could see on tv it seemed that he was really sincere about having an extended conversation as opposed to a quick handshake, where he showed enough concern to want the guy to know that he respected his play and didn't intend to drive him into the ground. Maybe he wanted to make sure Mullens didn't have a concussion, I don't know, but he showed great character, especially for a rookie.
Based on when and where he made contact

The roughing is a no-call against a player with a rep.

Actually I didn't get that from Patty. Apparently great minds think alike.
Carter has potential to be a very good OLB

Please play him all the time and bench Barwin. He adds speed, length and pass rush ability we haven’t seen in a long time. Very nice pick in the 3rd round.

Clay Mathews III?

As for Carter, he is gaining Williams/Kennard status.....but that was a lot of promise that never was fulfilled....
Carter is already pretty good and will get better with

coaching and experience. He was a good pick in round 3.

Carter is way better than Kennard or Williams. Excellent 3rd round pick for DG.
I thought Carter had a good game, best I've seen of him thus far
OlyWABigBlue : 11/13/2018 10:15 am : link
In terms of analogies, he reminds me more of Byron Hunt (old timers may remember him) than anyone else and that is very high praise. Of course, Carter still has a ways to go. Your mileage may vary.
He is not excellant
Doomster : 11/13/2018 10:23 am : link
until he lives up to the BBI build up....something Williams and Kennard didn't do...
He should be starting over Martin
youngd74 : 11/13/2018 10:30 am : link
He makes more of an impact than Martin does when he's in the game.

Has flashed a TON this year. He will be given more and more on his plate as the season progresses and I can't wait to see what more he has to offer. He was all over the place last night in what was his most action of the season.

He can rush the passer and is quick enough to be able to cover as an edge 3-4 OLB. Right now, he has been strictly used as a pass rusher due to being so green.

As was mentioned previously, with a year under the system and in the weight room, this kid is looking like a definite starter and above average player in the near future. Looking forward to watching his progress each game.
I thought he actually made 2-3 good plays in pass defense too......

Do you often seen huge steps up in years 2 and 3 on this team?

Well Tomlinson, Engram, and Apple too huge steps backwards. Does that count?
Tomlinson?
Ten Ton Hammer : 11/13/2018 11:34 am : link
Where did he take steps back? They traded snacks to put him in that role.
Exactly
santacruzom : 11/13/2018 11:36 am : link
For some odd reason a promising Giants player is much more likely to decline than to continue to ascend.
What I like about Carter is the fact that
Simms11 : 11/13/2018 11:53 am : link
he's an athletic LBer that can run and tackle. He also adds some pass rush which is critical in a 3-4. I have seen him line up at DE in 4-3 looks and so he can do that as well. Good looking prospect. Hoping that we see continued development this year. I think Barwin's contribution to this team is as a mentor to this kid right now.
Getting more snaps now
Carson53 : 11/13/2018 12:17 pm : link
the kid is active and athletic, want to see how he develops. The potential is there.
