What did Eli see?

JFIB : 11/13/2018 8:22 am
On the goal line with Odell uncovered in the slot, Eli checked out of the pass to a Saquan run that was stuffed at the line. It really looked to me that it was an easy quick pass to Odell for the TD. Anyone who understands better than I do what he might have seen that made him kill the pass for the run?
I mean

If Brown makes the block I think they score. There’s only so much time to process information and make the call.
It was funny hearing everyone bitch out Shurmur for it

Let Shurmur do something before you start defending him. Up to now he has been pretty unimpressive. There is absolutely no improvement over last year or even week to week. And that is in every aspect of the game.
Not sure what happened

Maybe Eli could tell us
He saw another "Mountain".

A real puzzler. I can understand Eli not seeing wide open receivers

When facing a pass rush. Missing a presnap read is more difficult to understand.
The play call was a run first off

That makes it option 1. He likely saw Beckham, but also thought the running play looked good against the D alignment. If option #1 on any play looks good you go with that. It didn't work because the blocking screwed up. In addition, if Eli starts barking out changes what makes you think the D won't adjust too, and slide someone over? Its a chess game with both adjusting, so why not stick with the original call when you have a positive setup
This!

Why does he need to change the play?

No one is covering Odell.Eli is in shotgun. They should both see that all Eli has to do is throw it to him. Odell took 2 steps and looked for the ball.

The problem with this take is that the broadcast showed Manning audibling into the run right before the snap. That's what the KILL call is. We'll probably never know what the original call was; it could have been a different run for all anyone knows, but the fact that he either changed a pass to a run with Odell uncovered or didn't audible to a pass with him uncovered is strange, to say the least.
