Time of Possession really kills Giants O

SF had the ball for over 34 minutes last night. The fact that the D cannot get off the field and is constantly giving up long drives is reducing the number of chances we get on O. We are 28th in the NFL in TOP. We're behind the Jets! Now some of that is the number of 3 and outs but the D is not helping matters. If I had to guess, we are losing at least 2 drives a game because of the D.

the average Giants length of drive was 17th in the NFL.

People who say the defense is constantly tired is just making false proclamations.
The first drive of the second half....

San Fran started at the 40 yard line due to Rosas kicking the kickoff out of bounds... They had a 12 play TD drive that only covered sixty yards.

We got the ball back for the first time in the second half with only 8 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter.

This is a killer. I have to see if I can find the statistic but teams seem to convert on 3rd and Long a lot. Those are deflating.

LOL.
Defense is lacking a good enough Pass Rush and then the

back end coverage is not holding up either. They're playing hard, but talent has something to do with it as well. Defense also needs an upgrade in talent as well. Edge Rusher (OLB), CB, Safety. They also need more at LBer. Hopefully Carter develops into a nice addition. So far he's looking like a very nice find, but we've seen this story before.

Anyway, this defense keeps giving up long scoring drives to other teams after we score. It's a big problem and is another one of the culprits of this poor season.

On 3rd and long I feel like the coaches seldom bring pressure. Not that we can get to the QB anyway but it seems like so many 3rd and longs we give the QB all day to find someone open by only rushing 4 guys. Watching the successful teams on 3rd and long you know pressures coming and it forces the QB into a quick, shorter throw.
