So we all acknowledge that our O-line cant run block....at all. So when Saquon goes out and gets hit behind the line as soon as he touches the ball, all the blame goes to the O-line..."how can ANY back run behind this line?". Yet, when Stewart does the same thing, he is a piece of crap waste who shouldn't even be in the league.
Not saying he was a great, or even a good, signing, but it sure does seem like there is a double standard here, especially when you consider that Saquon is already considered to be one of the best backs in the league.
Difference is Saquon has the ability to break tackles and make guys miss and turn nothing into a huge play. Stewart getting hit in the backfield is just going to result in negative yards.
That said, plenty on BBI bemoan all the negative runs Saquon has.
Oh, no doubt, a blind person can see that there is a huge gap in the talent levels of these two guys. Im just saying that I think that while Stewart has been a bust of a signing, I think he is taking a little too much heat for his performance when you consider the state of the line. I would not expect JS to be able to break those tackles, make something out of nothing. Thats not him, never was. Barkley is special; thats why we took him at 2. My expectation of JS was a short yardage back, get the 2-3 yards when its needed. And that is pretty hard to do when you are running in to a brick wall.
I was hoping they would bring Nick Gates back. He was a well regarded UDFA signing who could benefit from late season practice time. Does anyone remember what his ‘injury’ was?

I think it was a foot injury, but I admit I'm not sure. In any event, I don't want to have to cut anyone to make room for Stewart.
(Not counting last year's disaster) before opening BBI I would hope that nothing bad had happened since the last time I'd visited the site...with "bad" meaning injuries, awful trades or arrests.
These days, just before I click the BBI link, all I can think of is... "I wonder if the Giants have done anything stupid since the last time I was on the site."
It sucks, but at least this year I'm not as worried about injuries spoiling our season.
So what if Stewart returns, he is not keeping anyone else from returning of any consequence.
Don't the Giants have to drop someone currently on the active roster if they take him off IR?
I think the team gets a couple of weeks exemption to determine whether to activate the player. He can practice, but he's not part of the active roster yet
Now if your argument is that he's taking a roster spot - perhaps an OL or DL who could actually contribute - then you might have a point.
Otherwise, this reeks of some sort of gentleman's handshake (or Gettleman's handshake if you're nasty) under the table where DG promised Stewart a spot for the entire season. That's all I can think of at this point. They make trades and release players, yet Stewart is still here?
is his leadership that important that they will take a roster spot away from a young player with upside not to mention taking carries away from Gallman.
and 1 is penny. its proabably cheapest just to activate the guy qith guarenteed money already on the books. He gets paud either way let him take some of the hits
Why do you guys hate stewart so much? Wtf lol... boooooooooo? That’s how you feel about a veteran rb that can get the tough yards returning from injury? Why? Because he might make one million more than you think he should make? Fucking weird.
But it was preseason, and you guys went fucking ape shit. Then he averages 4 ypc in limited time vs Jax. Two shitty carries in the ugly game at dallas, then goes back to 4 ypc vs Houston. So he was playing better than you all perceived him to be in preseason. But you still hate him.
Cool.
Just 8 months ago, the Jonathan Stewart signing was praised Â
by many on BBI in that we added a veteran RB who could solve the Giants short yardage/goal line woes AND be a solid lockerroom presence for a team lacking leadership.
Several even commented that the deal was fairly inexpensive in the overall scheme of things and that it was smart to add to the RB depth chart before the draft Disregard the fact that the 31 year Stewart was in a free-fall decline and had a market value equal to a blackberry device.
Stewart got a charitable gift from an old GM who fell down and hit his head on the ground walking into the office on the first day of free agency.
Anybody want to fall on their sword before I search the archives...

He got Darkwa dollars. Nice to see you're saying the same thing again.

No one, eh?

Yes, this is the missing part. Going to run thre table now.
WHY!!!!!!
Charlie Donovan: On how we can get worse?
Rachel Phelps: Mmmmm...
Charlie Donovan: How about a series of fines for good play? Maybe a $30,000 bonus to the guy voted Least Valuable Player.
Rachel Phelps: Maybe the problem is... we're coddling these guys too much. Yeah!

We're winning this division.

I'd rather see them dress 3 QB's in case Eli goes down, we can go to Lauletta rather than Tanney.

It amazes me that so many Giant fans know Stewart is over the hill way before the people who run the team get the message.
However Gettleman, who's made some good moves, just cannot see the facts here & probably still views him as the player he once was.
We are all human and find it difficult to be objective. I hope though Shurmur does not insert Stewart in a crucial must-get 3 yards play.
Monday night's win showed we got too complacent.
Cool.

I feel like Gettleman is so old school he probably thinks he can give Stewart a stern talking to and he'll be able to run faster.
LOL
OK, you guys are killing me!
