Fuck you, dudes. I don't want to have to be the one to make the game thread. Islanders are on an 8-game winning streak against the Rangers...hell, have the Rangers ever won in Brooklyn?
Let's see if Quinn can fare better against our little brothers than Elaine did.
Would be even better if Beauvillier or Leddy decided to chip in a little offense.

Yeah I can't believe I'm saying this but it's 100% true. The Cizikas loss is a big one and the Ladd loss is meh. But Casey has very quietly been one of our best forwards in every asset of the game. The top 2 lines are going to have to play perfect games (we know what we're getting with the 3rd line) and the 4th line needs to be limited to (at most) 8 minutes of action.
See above! :)

I know the answer but I will let my friend, Mike in Long Beach provide the answer as he gleefully will.

Atta boy! :
I'll probably be onto SEA/GB by kickoff.

There's a shocker. Unless a Rangers' fan's firm is offering corporate seats, it's tough to keep these guys interested in hockey.

About as tough as it is for your pathetic team to find a place to play because no one wants them.

Yea, Cizikas has turned into a really nice player. Probably one of the better cheap extensions that Snow locked up before he was shitcanned. Looks like he'll only be out about 2 weeks or so, but the organization is so fucking thin at center that the backup options aren't promising.
Looking forward to seeing Dal Colle play hopefully on Sunday. He's been tearing it up in the AHL and maybe has turned a corner. He's still really young.

Barclays fucking sucks for hockey. Come dec 1st we’ll all be going back to the coli where we belong.
Glad this has a little juice - both teams are playing above expectations so far.
Thanks KWhite - you keep reminding us and I keep forgetting : /
In the rare chance we lose - remember we are rebuilding so it's not like it's a real game.
Where's pganut?
It down without him. Got the rest of the boys in tow.
That said, I have tons of thoughts but not really the time...the TL;DR version is:
We're performing better than most thought and from an underlying metric perspective, despite a higher than average PDO and shooting percentage (which will no doubt revert to the mean), the structural foundation Trotz and co. are installing (as well as philosophically through the organ-eye-zation) has us playing much better overall hockey and developing better habits, the "detail work" the staff mentions. Even down to the pressure in the NZ, commitment to breaking out north-south, not flying the zone and our D gap control, which was beyond horrid for several seasons. We're keeping things to the outside. Goalies are all re-learning and implementing positional technique adjustments, and have done so well so far. I have no expectations of making any noise in the big picture this season, but if the solid play and subsequent confidence drives these guys on to greater success, so be it. I like what I'm seeing and realize this is one step in a larger journey over the next couple of seasons. And I like what we have to set the tone, and the young talent through the org to carry the torch. It's close, and this doesn't feel like the mirage of years past. Amazing what adults at the helm can do.
And a hat tip to my guys who have carried our banter away from BBI this year. Shows you why we have a bunch of guys who all get "A"s on their sweaters...my boys are accountable.
Good luck tonight whichever sweater you root for.
pg! back at you my friend. Same here - I have been watching with the little guy as well.
This is honestly the first game in years I don't feel the rivalry is as intense. I think it's because (at least my) expectations of the Rangers squad are not very high. I am curious how Quinn's version of the Rangers will handle the game.
I am stuck at the office in TriBeCa and live in Staten Island - looking at the weather outside, I am not going to get to see too much of tonight.
Agreed. I think that's because we all recognize what our teams are, and aren't. It'll be more fun when both teams are more finished products.
Sucks you're stuck there, but I spent many a snowy evening in Tribeca when I worked for Smith Barney at 388 Greenwich back in the day. Pig and Whistle and Bubble Lounge got a lot of my attention. Hope you get home safe, amigo.
It's a POW-ER-PLAY GOAL!
Great play by Howden.

By the time it’s all said and done, the Isles will have been nomads longer than the Jews.

Yep. We Wuz Robbed
Curious about this myself, actually
It's uncanny. I wonder if Valiquette or someone else has discussed it or has a theory about it. Seems like it leads to a goal too often when it happens.

Certainly as far as Ranger goalies over the past 50 years there's nobody even close - Hank is like 10x whomever would be #2. It is so much that I believe it has to be an intentional thing - that he lets go of the stick in certain situations (although frankly I can't figure out when or why that would be)
Yea, that's why a small part of me always considered the NHL just slightly removed from professional wrestling (esp in the Broad Street Bully days)
There you go.
Three deflected goals. Good to see you watching a game

Metnut - I’m on the other side of this but wow!
I’ve been following on my phone stuck on my commute. It looks like the officiating has been questionable?
Isles feed has been choppy at times for me
How about playing better defense in front? Staal looks like fuckin road kill out there.
He should have been eliminated years ago.
You just lost to a team with a Fucking car sitting in first row.
The PDO regression coming for the islanders is going to be fantastic
Yes he scored with EA to make it 6-5. Clutterbuck then added final goal
Talent wise, the Islanders are ahead but I did like how the Rangers didn’t quit. I caught the end after an awful commute,

... was Hank pulled for Chytil's goal? I assume Islander's final goal was an empty netter.

LOL! He sure delivered.
I didn’t love the effort tonight but I’ll take the two points. Biggest development tonight for NYI would be Beuvillier getting his confidence back.

Funny. I was there at that time as well. Thru 2000 and a move to 7 WTC.
Lol - I was there 94-95. Shitty commute from Hoboken, compared to where I was in WFC...
Not that Ladd was any good, but he could've been the serviceable 3rd option on line two. Looks like he's out for a while, so Beauvillier needs to play well if this team wants to legitimately contend for a playoff spot. Can't lean on Bailey-Barzal-Lee every night.
Great win. Was in section 215. Lot's of the expected back-and-forth chants going on. A few Rangers fans were going over-the-top with their exuberance after the 2-0 lead, and to Rangers' fans credit, the majority of their fans were policing them/yelling at them to shut up as it was very early in the game, still. Gave one of them a pat on the back for it, which he didn't appreciate. Probably should've waited for him to leave the urinal first. Oh, well.

That was you? Oh man, I was just trying to shake off.
Actually, as documented above, I was on the Staten Island Express Bus watching on MSG Go (or try to go).
I did a legitimate LOL reading Mike.

Must've been a fun game to be at. Crowd sounded lively.
Do you think you're going to make it to the 12/1 home opener at the Coliseum? I'll be up in NY for that. Probably the latest home opener I've seen for the Islanders. So many neutral site games in Brooklyn!

I really want to, but my girlfriend gets back from a week-long business trip in London that day.. going to be a tough sell, lol.
I live/work down here - it's improved a lot in just the ~2 years I've been here.
And no one believes you have a girlfriend, Mike.

I am at 7WTC now. I have been there for almost 10 years. They really are doing a nice job rebuilding WTC and the surrounding area. I hate WHY it happened but between WTC, The Oculus and Brookfield Place they are almost creating Columbus Circle downtown. They are building gorgeous residences (way beyond my means).

She goes to a different school, alright!?
In Canada, I'm guessing

I had a really bizarrely coincidental run-in with Metnut at the Islanders' tailgate in Raleigh. We briefly texted since we both were going. I didn't know anyone there, and ended up chatting with some dude who flew in with my GF and I from Jersey. And the whole time he's waiting for his friend to show up, and I've got my eye out for Metnut. Ended up spending a good hour shooting the shit with the guy until Metnut finally showed up.
Turns out we were both waiting for the same guy.
