Bringing a DSLR camera into stadium?

NJBlueTuna : 11/15/2018 8:02 pm
Got 1st row tix for this Sunday with my son and looking at bringing a DSLR (nothing fancy) to take some pics from 1st row. Are there reatrictions on bringing cameras or camera bags? If I can’t bring the camera bag can I only bring camera with a neck strap? It’s not a huge camera basically an entry level canon DSLR with telescopic lens.

Thanks and any help appreciated.

Looks like no case (I'm guessing this means bag also) and no longer than 6". Depending on how large the telescoping is on the lens you may have an issue. I'd zoom it out and measure it before Sunday.
Call them to clarify

To get some really nice pics you will need a zoom that goes to at least 200mm. A typical zoom that extends to 250 or 300mm should be less than 6" colapsed and ideal from where you will be sitting. I have a 18 to 250 sigma that fully colapsed is like 5.5".

I think as long as it's 6" or less colapsed you will be fine but call them to confirm. I think they are just trying to avoid people bringing the 500+mm fixed zooms that are like 12+ inches long.
No bag and nothing over 70mm lens-wise

from personal experience. It was a long walk back to the car with my 70-200 2.8.

a game 2 years ago and a friend brought a camera and they wouldn’t let him bring it in. I am not familiar with cameras or lenses but I didn’t think it was big at all.
There's a kid in my section

104 down in the front row that is there every game taking pictures with his DSLR. He apparently makes professional prints from them too. He gave a print of Dwayne Harris to my son. They don't bother him and he is definitely using more than a 70mm lens.
