JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Ereck Flowers, the ninth overall pick in 2015 by the New York Giants who was cut last month, will start at left tackle for the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Flowers becomes the fourth player to start at that spot for the Jaguars (3-6) because of injuries. Cam Robinson suffered a torn ACL in Week 2 and his replacement, Josh Wells, injured his groin in Week 5 and was placed on IR. That forced the Jaguars to move reserve guard Josh Walker to left tackle, where he started the past four games. Walker injured his foot in last week's loss to Indianapolis and the team listed him as doubtful for Sunday's game against Pittsburgh at TIAA Bank Field. |
i know you are being sarcastic, but didn't he play last week and was terrible?

He did, but didn't start. And Yes, he is/was terrible.
Go get em Ereck!
What a douchebag thing to say!
The easy blame game would be Bortles, but Fournette has hamstrings that are tighter than DRC's. He returned last week after pulling up lame in week 1 against us. He changes the entire dynamic of the offense.
Now, their defense has been horrible especially the secondary. All too often, WRs are completing large chunk plays and the the secondary is looking around at each other looking for blame. Also, they have not been getting the turnovers as they did last year. It makes a huge difference.
Go get em Ereck!
Reese wasn't making the picks. Wow, what a revelation.
LONG LIVE THE TUNA!

Is his second last chance. Let’s see what he does with it
Fixed it for you. Let's be clear. Despite being claimed on waivers, he was still unable to beat out the 3rd string LT who actually was a guard playing LT. The only reason for the start is because the guy ahead of him is doubtful. The league has seen enough of this guy. If he doesn't take advantage of this opportunity, he isn't going to get any others. Hopefully, he invested his money or else his future is being a bouncer in a Miami strip club.
He already played last week and had a PFF grade of 49.7 giving up one sack and 7 QB hurries. The lowest grade of any tackle in the league to the shock of no one. The fact that they are playing him again at LT this week, instead of literally anyone, is just sad. He is what he is.
Our 4th stringer is "Someguy". Who is actually a better option than Ereck Flowers since a corpse is a better option than Erek Flowers. At least DEs might trip over the corpse every once in a while.
He already played for them last week and was even worse for them than he was for us which is amazing since I didn't think that was possible. Do you think he will magically turn into Jonathan Ogden in one week after playing like Ereck Flowers last week???? He is only playing cause everyone else is hurt and TC stupidly brought him in for some reason when any living breathing body would have been better.
Wow in that one it looks like he actually pushed the defender into Eli.
Not true. He kept ducking his head, had an ineffective (and sometimes missing) punch, lots of footwork/technique issues, seemed to mentally be a step slow regularly.
Didn't play well enough when Pugh was healthy, Richburg played well enough most of the time. Absolutely no evidence that he was held back by a poor interior line.
Having said that, he's been a constant punching bag here. It's not like he NEVER blocked anyone. He just was so inconsistent and was always good for a few blown plays every game, sometimes on every drive.

and Flowers is better with better interior line play, like Solder?

and penalties
Sorry if I came across a tad harsh. No harm intended.
You don't? It's all because of his shitty attitude, lack of effort and desire, and refusal to listen to his coaches. I think at this point next season he will be out of football and he won't have anyone to blame but himself.
Eli should have held on to the ball. Bad Eli!
Well Solder just came off basically a perfect game for a OL and a 92.7 grade from PFF. And he didn't even get better interior line play since neither Brown, Pulley, Hernandez got good grades.
All I am saying is that I am pretty sure that I recently read on here that Flower's graded out better for the first half of last year than Solder graded out for the same period this year.
In addition to the mental and developmental issues others have mentioned, he actually didn’t “have all the physical tools.”
He was too big and lumbering to be a top edge defender. He’s just too slow to win out there consistently without 100% perfect technique and smarts (which is a lot to ask of anyone, let alone a guy who had neither). This was the big issue many of us had with him being drafted to play OT. I and many others thought maybe a good RG but not an ideal OT. Certainly not a LT. I honestly think that even with above averae technique he would not be a good LT and would not be more than an above average (not great) RT.
Add in his obvious mental weaknesses and you have a really shitty OT bust.

And they can’t win games anymore, what a strange coincidence!

I agree with gmenatlarge... It just goes to show, as goes the OL so goes the team. And its not about mobile QBs... That's just wishful thinking that there is a simpler solution to the problem.
Huh? Jax plays the Steelers at home. They do not play the Jets this year and they already beat us week 1. Jax will not step foot in MetLife this year.
Mobility within the pocket, escapability, making throws on the move, keeping drives alive with their feet, it s part of the fabric of the younger quarterbacks coming into the league.
It s not an indictment on Eli and the Giants, but when you look around the league and see guys like Wentz, Mahomes, Tribiski, (sp). it makes sense to desire that for your team.

So long as you are also willing to accept the negatives associated with mobile QBs. Myself, I prefer a pocket passing QB where rules are in place to protect the QB. All the traits that you describe are worthless when that QB is hurt. QB moves outside of the pocket and he becomes a runner. Look at Rodgers, the reality is he makes the extraordinary look routine. He has also flushed seasons due to being a spectator on the sidelines. A majority on BBI were clamoring for Sam last draft, and he is now in a walking boot. I could go on about injuries to mobile QBs, but the point is those players are exposed to much greater risk leading to injuries and their inability to be under center. I'll take a pocket passing QB any day and everyday.

Now now he’s been known for “tripping” guys up from time to time
I think he fails because he is not able to accurately read the defender and when he errs, his recovery is hampered by less than agile footwork.
You are truly an a-hole that doesn’t deserve a coach of the caliber of Tom Coughlin!
You are truly an a-hole that doesn’t deserve a coach of the caliber of Tom Coughlin!
Come on now. Take Coughlin's nutsack out of your mouth for one second and take an unbiased look at this.
For a year now you guys have been singing Coughlins praises for building the roster in Jacksonville. As it turns out that roster is a bit overrated (and you guys were so enamored with Coughlin that you failed to see that their much heralded defense actually stumbled a bit late last year also).
Now they sign the #1 hated player of the "Coughlin is perfect and it was all Reese's fault" brigade, Ereck Flowers the whipping boy. You have to admit that is fucking hilarious.
Now before you tell me I "don't deserve Coughlin" or some other over dramatic nonsense, I think Coughlin was a great coach, but it was time to move on from him.
I think Reese and Ross should have been fired with him.
I also think it is absurd to say that Coughlin should share no blame.
You should join us in reality sometime.

Ross should never have been hired in the first place.

I really can’t fathom your pitiful what have you done for me lately attitude. How many other coaches have delivered two SBs to their franchise? And you can’t even show him the respect he deserves because you’re such a little crybaby because you haven’t won lately, BFD. Your kind makes me want to puke and I really don’t care to mince words with the likes of you!

His post obviously went way over your head - or hit you where it hurts.
The same respect you give Coughlin you should give Reese. Truth is, you shit all over Reese and somehow preserve this pristine image of Coughlin in your mind.
Truth is - both were a part of our success and both were part of our downfall and should have been let go a year or two before they actually were.
Just about no one is arguing we should have kept Reese. But for some reason we have strong St Tommy brigade who thinks he should still be the coach of the Giants. His last couple of years as coach were abyssmal. And he most certainly played a hand in the shitty roster decisions.

Oh wow , it went over my head how idiotic, I never even mentioned Reese, you did. You clowns are the ones disrespecting a two time SB winning coach, which I find inexcusable.
