NFT: Colts LB Darius Leonard

Ned In Atlanta : 11/18/2018 8:05 pm
This guy is having an absolutely insane rookie season. He had 7 tackles, a sack, forced fumble and sack today. Already eclipsed 100 tackles on the season after 10 games. 36th pick out of South Carolina State. Did any serious college football heads watch this guy in college? Picked 36th overall, 2 picks after Hernandez. I have been very happy about the early returns on this draft class, and isn't an indictment on Hernandez, who has been very good in his own right and fills an obvious position of need.

A lot of the draft sites had him as a riser and a big time prospect.
How is the kid from Rutgers doing?

Getting starter reps. Even as a Rutgers fan I thought he was picked a bit early but hes a great kid. Injuries really slowed his production in college.
With a new GM, that actually knows what he is doing

The Colts are a team on the rise. I have no idea why they hunt onto the disaster Ryan Grigson for so long. He wasted years of Luck's career with terrible drafting and FA signings. They added G Quenton Nelson, LB Darius Leonard, OL Braden Smith, LB Kemoku Turay, RB Nyheim Hynes, and RB Jordan Wilkins in the draft. The trade with the Jets was a great move for the Colts.
I have been following him closely...

Because I picked him up early on in my fantasy football league. Under my league's scoring system he leads all defensive players in points by a wide margin and he missed a Thursday night game over a minor injury that didn't heal in time on three days rest.
Definitely in contention...

for DROTY.
He was the 7th player on my Big Board

Yes....7th overall. He is the prototype for LB in today's NFL.

hoping he'd last until the third, but that was obviously not going to happen.

Sy, what are your thoughts on Josh Allen, OLB Kentucky?

wow
shout out to Sy's draft analysis...
AussieGiants : 11/18/2018 10:57 pm : link
worth confirming that Sy had a few excellent calls in this years draft, Leonard being one of the best but Braden Smith (another Colts pick) is starting at RT there. Sy had him as even on grading with Quenton Nelson. Question to Sy: I think you used to do a "live" draft where you make predictions of who you would have taken at the time of the draft when the Giants picked? Did you do it this year and I miss it?
