Tirico: "Don't forget the Giants. It's not over in the NFC East, yet.... The Giants are showing a little life here.
Dungy: "And they're playing hard. That is the truly impressive thing to me. Long game on Monday night, and come back and play hard again today.
Harrison on Giants QB Eli Manning: "It's just amazing how Eli looks when you protect him and give him time."
This was from Tom Rock's twitter:

They could have easily packed it in at 1-7.
That's not going to sit well with the "Eli sucks" crowd on BBI.
Dallas could have very easily lost to Atlanta, and the Skins without a qb are in trouble....so yes the Giants are still in it.....and there is a possibility to win the division.....which may be the worst thing that can happen for this team....
On a day where a lost Giants season a actually has life, why do you feel the need to go there.
Some of you guys come across as caring more about proving other bbi ers wrong than you do about the Giants winning.
...but if we lose in Philly, the season will be REALLY over!!!
I don't think we have that kind of magic in us this year because the D doesn't have the potential to come together like the '11 D.
But how can any fan not want to see the Giants win out and maybe win a playoff game or 2?
I was there yesterday and i'm not sure how it came across on TV, but the crowd was really into it. It didn't have the feel of a 2-7 team. Pretty awesome atmosphere and Eli was great, Saquon was unbelievable and the offense was fun to watch.
I know its an EXTREME longshot but whatever. I'm gonna enjoy it. What other option is there? Fuck the draft pick.
They could have easily packed it in at 1-7.
But but but bbi told me Mcadoo was right about Geno.

Every year at the first sign of adversity somebody here suggests losing out.
It's as inevitable as the seasons changing, along with the trade down in the draft crowd.
Fortify the locker room, find out who’s all in and move the franchise forward.

Yeah Britt, I don't understand it. We've pissed away too many seasons since '11. I want something to cheer for. Worry about the draft in April.

Players are familiar enough with the defensive scheme now, so it is time to produce.Vernon needs to step up, and they need to defend the middle of the field. That’s up to Collins and the LBs.
A victory there would be the biggest one since Coughlin was fired. Not probable, but you never know.
If BBI shows one thing continually - it is that having the pulse of the NFL pegged is a foreign concept

Man, you've got that right.
We've got posters on here literally saying that winning and improving in the second half of this year will have no bearing whatsoever on next season.
BUT - what I think has been important is that we are continually churning out players who aren't performing, trying to improve as a team. We've not seen that in many years.
WTF.
Dallas could have very easily lost to Atlanta, and the Skins without a qb are in trouble....so yes the Giants are still in it.....and there is a possibility to win the division.....which may be the worst thing that can happen for this team....
You should find another site to post on. At least your handle is 100% accurate. Do you have any friends that watch games with you? That was a rhetorical question...

we've heard for weeks that the Raiders were intentionally tanking and wouldn't get another win.

Right, but San Fran was not installing brand new offensive and defensive systems like we are. I wonder if we even have both systems fully installed yet. Learning and getting comfortable in those, and executing them consistently are very important, especially considering the reduced practice time.
It will pay dividends next year to keep executing, improving, and winning.
It'd be a miracle, but at least they're allowing for the possibility of a miracle.
Go out and lay another egg against the Eagles, and the vicious cycle of BBI will just swing in the opposite direction.
BUT let's not lose sight of the fact that the Giants beat a depleted 49ers team and a terrible Bucs team that benched it's starting QB half way through the game and still almost came back.
I'm all for hoping and rooting for the Giants to pull off the impossible - but the Giants winning 7 in a row is very unlikely.
we still cant cover the middle of the field, who is going to contain trubisky when he takes off, and who is going to protect eli/barkley from those linebackers?

Road game, NFL "ebb and flow". Not ridiculous that the Giants could pull that one out.........

The vicious cycle turns drive to drive during the game thread.
I must admit, I go there to get a good laugh.

Last year was Shanahan's first year in SF.

I’ll give you credit, your screen name fits. The only thing better would be Doom N Gloom. You’d find something to complain about if they won the SB.
The head coach is learning on the job in his second job and his default mode is non aggressive. The league has passed the GM by and his next idiotic move will probably be giving Collins a huge contract.
But anytime Eli plays well and the Giants win. I am a happy Giant fan.
I agree that winning is probably better for the players and culture moving forward than losing. But the Giants have a tendency to be blinded to any current or impending weakness or need once they win a bit, and that worries me.
We are already ahead of that record. I could see a similar finish here (this season anyway).
Too many people giving up on Coach Shurmur and this team, even at 1-7. Too many people finding analogies of teams having inconsistencies from one season to the next.
The correct analogy is to look at good teams (like the Patriots) and try to figure out how to build a consistently winning program. I think BB would tell you that you need to play to win every game and work on getting better. That's what I'm hoping for.
It's just a game you have to take with a big, big grain of salt...
+ 1 , 100% agree here. None of the 3 can just carry a team anymore, but give them a normal surrounding team (normal means average) and they can still play better than most

I'd add that it's important to see growth and improvement from the young players that you hope will make up the core going forward. Barkley was hitting the holes hard, even when there wasn't much there. Brown looked solid again at RG and hopefully we have someone there.
Coleman looks like a good return man and still has some potential as a WR. While I hope they aren't starters next season, Pulley/Wheeler look (marginally) better and could provide valuable OL depth next season and beyond.
Defensively, I think Haley's looked solid the last couple games. Carter/Hill will benefit from the experience.
He played well enough in week 2 against Atlanta not to give up on him after poor performances in weeks 3 and 4.
If he gets his interceptions under control...
There is a crazy percentage of the roster that is still in the bubble. There's a quarterback situation to figure out. The systems on both sides of the ball need serious analysis.
Whether that gets bucketed as "tanking" -- that's semantics.
Just remember Tom Coughlin ate the 2004 season, with a winning record to, as an investment in the future. It's not a crime against humanity to understand you are year or two away.

No, the Giants prepared for Fitzpatrick, not Winston. They still win in all likelihood. Two different QBs with two different styles except both are turnover machines. So we don't know if the outcome is different.

Why would you think that? He was benched for a reason, he was turning the ball over just as much as Fitz.

Ho Lee Fuk! I just checked that out and you are right! Again, Ho Lee Fuk!
I still think we have to realize that we beat two pretty crappy teams here. TB's defense is horrendous.
But - there's definitely a different feel right now. The team seems to be rallying and believing they can make this season relevant again. I don't want to watch a bunch of fucking quitters. I want them to keep playing hard. Whatever happens, happens.
I'm pretty pumped for the Eagles game.

'He was lookin for place called Lee Hoo Fuks.
Gonna get a BIG DISH of Beef Chow Mein."
That is all. We now return you to any relevant thread postings that may happen three days later....
