This move says a lot about their ownership and organization.
Really? What does it say? They drafted a guy who punched a pregnant woman. They stuck with Hunt knowing what happened but because he wasn't totally truthful he was released. File this under they really had little choice since the video got leaked.

I think most teams (not all) wouldn't cut him because of that video. Especially considering they have a legit shot at the title this year.
They did the right thing in my opinion, but they definitely had a choice.
There is a difference between criticizing and praising.
I didn't criticize them but others are praising the organization. They don't deserve praise. They were quoted as releasing him because he wasn't fully truthful. They didn't say they released him based on hitting a woman.
Also, should they be praised for drafting a guy who punched a pregnant woman?
Again, my point is not to criticize them but rather lets take it easy on the praise.
Do you think most teams would have done what they did? I certainly don't.
They could have kept him, sure. And it would be an obstacle in their way. They eliminated the distraction. Hunt fucked up and lied to the team about it. That is a big no-no. I think they would have kept him if he was honest with them just like their support for Hill. But once he lied about it and made the team look foolish they said fuck you.
Well, that team just drafted a man who, fewer than two years ago, was arrested after his girlfriend walked into an emergency room eight weeks pregnant with bruises and cuts on her face and neck. The woman told police Hill punched her multiple times in the face and stomach, put both hands around her neck, slammed her head against a wall, and threw her to the floor.
It's not just the original act, it's that he was interviewed about it by several team officials and lied through his teeth. That left them a lot less choice, because they couldn't trust him, and couldn't be confident if they asked him:
"Are there any other incidents we should know about?"
If he said "no" and the truth was "yes," it would have been a pr disaster. And they couldn't trust his response. In the era of cellphone videos, the risks have gone up a lot.
They have Tyreek Hill. I suggest people do some research before praising the Chiefs
I think drafting a player after looking into the incident is far different than a current player doing something and then lying about it. Not excusing Hill at all but I don’t think the situations are the same.
This gives them wiggle room if anyone more important was ever found to do anything similar. (What _________ did is ______, but he was truthful with us, and is committed to _______).
Funny thing is, Peterson admitted in an interview last week that he still hits his kids with a belt. Yet for some reason the national media didn’t pick it up.
The chiefs organization did not view the video prior to today. I also find it hard to believe the NFL did not have the video too. That brings you to either, the NFL did not share the video with the Chiefs, which is wrong in every way or they were incompetent again in handling a similar situation as the ray rice video. Although in my personal opinion the Ray Rice incident is much more egregious than this one.

What Hill did was worse. No doubt. But Hill pled guilty, served his punishment and has (by all accounts) learned from his mistake and become a better man.
Kareem Hunt (allegedly) lied to the Chiefs about what happened.

Agreed completely. They knew - or should have known - this occurred in a public area of a hotel. If they did not have the video, it is because they did not want the video.

You're jumping to a conclusion about the video being viewed. The hotel itself said it turned it over to the police and denied the NFL and Chiefs request to view it and the Police also denied both requests.
It's not like they didn't try to get ahold of the video, and since no charges were filed, and the victim/s refused to cooperate, what choice did they really have except to take Hunt's word for it and keep trying to get the video.
I'm not sure who leaked it to TMZ but I'd guess someone at the hotel made a copy and cashed in.
Hotel had a corporate policy of only releasing video Â
to law enforcement. Chiefs and NFL certainly knew there was video and NFL tried to obtain it but they did not see it until today.
This is per Ian Rapoport, citing source.
TMZ undoubtedly got the video by paying someone to dodge the policy.
Another part of the picture is that, this summer, KH also punched a stranger in the face at another Ohio hotel. Not a woman this time but not exactly showing a learning curve from the February incident.
He's not going to play the rest of the year, he's a multiple offender with a high risk to repeat, and he didn't tell you the truth. Three strikes.
The All Powerful NFL and the KC Chiefs didn't already have the clip and knew about everything from the beginning, I'm seriously questioning your level of intelligence. Just like TMZ "acquired" the tape by paying someone to ignore the policy, you can damn sure believe the NFL and Chiefs did as well. The timing of the "leaked" clip is what got me. This reeks of double B and the Pats. #HuntGate

NFL and Chiefs employ lawyers who advise against such measures.
Exactly.
I think it's much more likely a hotel employee who had a copy shopped it to TMZ rather than the league or Chiefs going after it in a back room type of acquisition.
Not sure how many of you watch the show Ray Donovan, but this feels like it could be an episode on that show. This mysterious “footage” suddenly surfaces 9 months after the incident. Crazy, think the Chiefs definitely made the right move, just have to wonder if the Chiefs had already seen this and were forced to act once it leaked. I mean they did draft Tyreek Hill. I don’t care how fast or how great that guy is, I wouldn’t draft him on my fantasy team ever for what he did.
He doesn't deserve to lose his job over that, but that's today's NFL.
Are you joking? You’d have no issue with that if it was your daughter/sister/ girlfriend? No problem with a 230lb pro athlete shoving, pushing her face, bumrushing her to the ground and then kicking her when she was on the floor? Mind you, this was all done when 3 men and his girlfriend were trying to restrain him. Sickening.
And how did the authorities not press charges? I don’t understand that.
NOTHING good happens after 1 AM! That girl was hardly able to stand. She appeared to be under the influence which of course is no excuse for what Hunt did. But again, the video does not paint a pretty picture!

To criticize them sounds pretty moronic.

They just showed they are willing to put this situation ahead of their goal of winning. If you think most other teams would do this, you're crazy.
Hell, the ravens and Steelers harbored players who committed heinous crimes and one is a HOF'er known as a preacher and the other is a future HoF'er.
They deserve praise for doing the right thing. Is this really debatable?
Watch him become a member of the Washington Franchise in the coming days because Daniel Snyder has no soul or morals.

Hunt isn't going to be playing for a while. The Chiefs would not have done this if they felt he would skate.
True. They'd be a real hit

He kicked a woman that was on the ground due to him bum rushing her...WTF?

That kick is an embarrassment, the shame of that being on the internet should be enough punishment.
