Do you think Saquon Barkley will hit the 2,000 yard club?

Ben in Tampa : 12/3/2018 10:50 am
This has been talked about here, in-game and in the media. Barkley currently sits at 954 yards rushing and 602 years receiving.

1,556 year from scrimmage. Four weeks of football left and needs 444 yards.

I think he makes it. What do you think?

I don't know, but I do think he'll have a 2,000-yard rushing season in his career.
He will make

it.
he is so fucking good, it's scary

.
I hope he makes it

but won't be horribly disappointed if he doesn't. Whether he finishes with 2,000 yards or 1,928 he is a damn good player and I am glad he is a New York Giant.
Good chance
BigBlueHens : 12/3/2018 11:02 am : link
Great player. Even better person and teammate. Glad he is a Giant.
I agree with Eric
Matt in SGS : 12/3/2018 11:03 am : link
I think one year he will hit 2000 yards rushing in a season. I also think he will post 1000 yards rushing and 1000 receiving in the same season as well. If he has a huge finish catching the ball this year, he could do it this season, but I think he'll fall just short.
Well, he's currently averaging 80 yards
Simms11 : 12/3/2018 11:04 am : link
a game on the ground and so that will give him another 320 yards on the ground and he's also averaging roughly 50 yards receiving per game, giving him another 200 yards in receiving yardage. That's a total of 520 more yards on average possible and so given that, I think it's extremely possible. There's some tough sledding coming up however. All four remaining teams have decent defenses and so it will be tough, but certainly possible.
I am so excited about this kids future
The 12th Man : 12/3/2018 11:05 am : link
He has an excellent attitude and I think it will rub off on others. Even OBJ just handed the ball to the ref after he scored yesterday.
At one point, all I could say was that I thought...
M.S. : 12/3/2018 11:06 am : link

...Saquon Barkley was a fantastic player at Penn and the best all-around prospect before the Draft.

But, now, all I can say is that I under-estimated the man.
He gives us something to cheer for! Let's hope they give him the

ball so he can get the 2k!

doing newspaper returns and listening to the Giants on the radio, LT was making play after play. I sat their thinking I can't believe my team has the best player in the NFL playing for them. This was right after some lean years and the best player on the team being the punter.

Fast forward 35 years or so and I have a feeling this young man is going to take the league by storm just like LT. He is incredible
602 years receiving

Didn't realize how old Saquon was.

I think he makes it easily. In fact, I think he makes it before the Week 17 kickoff.
I could see him
kes722 : 12/3/2018 1:34 pm : link
Going well over.

I think his first huge rushing yardage game will be coming 200+

2,000 YFS is a pretty good bet.
BlackLight : 12/3/2018 1:43 pm : link
I'm hoping he takes down Dickerson's rookie YFS record (2,212). He'll need to average 164 ypg down the stretch. It's doable, but my sense is that he's going to need to show up for a truly monster game once in the next month to pull it off.
I don't know...
Dan in the Springs : 12/3/2018 1:58 pm : link
he's got some pretty good defenses coming up...

Redskins, Tenn, Colts, Cowboys

in ypg three of the top 11, and the Redskins ranked #17.

They are going to key on taking him away. Far from a certainty that he'll average 111 yfs which he needs to get there.

But I think he will anyway.
If the Oline
mrvax : 12/3/2018 2:05 pm : link
continues to improve, he'll do it.
He's gonna get the touches, I'd bet on that much.
BlueLou'sBack : 12/3/2018 2:16 pm : link
What else do the Giants have to play for? PS is well aware that he needs to get SB touches.

Sanders was 5'8" and 200 lbs.

Barkley is 6'0" and 233... With similar body control, explosion, agility and speed. Impressive.
Can't recall I've ever seen an RB his size with similar shiftiness, and I go back a ways.
I'm wondering about comparisons to Bo Jackson
BlackLight : 12/3/2018 2:33 pm : link
One argument that it's a fair comparison could be that when we watch Barkley, the athletic gap between him and everyone else isn't as pronounced as what we saw when Bo Jackson was playing. But that the reason the gap is narrower might be because everyone else is better athletically than what Bo played against, while Barkley might be just as good as Bo was.
I predicted 2,000 yards from scrimmage before week 1
Csonka : 12/3/2018 2:40 pm : link
and got laughed at in my office.
2000 yard club?
allstarjim : 12/3/2018 3:23 pm : link
I think it's possible he gets to the 2200 yard club.

2000 is a shoe-in.

If he does make it to 2200 yards, it will be somewhere in the top 24 single season performances in NFL history by that metric.

I'll go on record now and say that he'll crack the top 10 next year...Edgerrin James is 10th with 2,303 yards from scrimmage.

I don't believe that. Everyone always thinks that athletes from a few decades ago are inferior. I think most NFL players from the late 80's, early 90's would compare favorably to today's players. LT would've been just as dominant, probably moreso today because IMO offensive line play was better back then in general. But your starters on most teams were just as fast and athletic as today, except for some outliers, one of which is Saquon Barkley.
He has a good shot, which is a miracle considering how badly
Ira : 12/3/2018 3:37 pm : link
our offensive line has played - especially before the bye.

Most RBs start to drop off after 650 years so enjoy it while you can. The Giants should start looking for his replacement soon.
