Army uniforms for Army-Navy are pretty awesome

Greg from LI : 12/3/2018 2:07 pm
Paying tribute to the 1st Infantry Division in recognition of the centennial of the battles of WWI.

Navy's are pretty sharp, too, but the Black Knights have them beat this year.

For those who don't have access to a cinema screen...

And the Army uniforms kick ass.

per usual.
Some of UAs uniform designs

are just absurd. The Navy design is ok - but as usual, Nike makes UA look foolish.
Certainly better than the camo uniforms

I'm still partial to plain black with gold helmets though.
This ^ times 1000

the Army uniforms are classic they should never wear anything else. But I understand why they do and that's fine.
Love them

In general I wish they would just wear normal uniforms for these games but I understand the appeal of having something unique. Army did well this year.

Army going into this game as a favorite for the first time in a long time. It’s a rare winning era, trying to enjoy it while it lasts. This game will be tough though.
I think it will be tough because it's Army-Navy
Bill L : 12/3/2018 2:55 pm : link
and you never really know. It's its own unique thing.

However, I think that this is Army's best team in a very long time. Not for nothing, they took the country's number 4 team into overtime at their place.

In the Hudson Valley where I spend a lot of my time, the local cable news sports department loves Army football - it gets coverage over the Giants, Knicks etc. A lot of fun, and yes this year's Army team is very good.

Who else really looks forward to this game? It's sorta become an annual event where I host & a bunch of buddies come over to drink beer & eat unhealthy food. I can't wait for 3:30 PM Saturday. Go Army!
I don't follow either team
Ken in DC : 12/3/2018 4:25 pm : link
but it seems like a lopsided game based on the record of the two teams. But doing a quick search on Google, I didn't realize how many times the games were close despite Navy having a much better record in recent years. So I guess Navy has a chance?

And it looks like most of the people posting so far are Army fans. Maybe because West Point is closer to NY than Annapolis is? I always like an underdog to overachieve, so I'll go with Navy on this one.

The game itself is whatever, but the pageantry and spectacle before the game is something to behold

Pffft.
It should be close

Because Navy understands what’s coming. They will know how to deal with Army probably better than any other team in the country.

Army runs the ball about 90% of the time, they try to control the ball and grind results out. They will try to get 3-4 yards a play, get into third and short and then will go for it twice. They have a 90% fourth down conversion rate on 33 attempts. The downside of this approach is they can’t really score quickly. Against teams that don’t regularly face the option they benefit from defensive mistakes and break big plays. Theoretically that should happen a lot less against Navy.

Also Navy will try to control the ball in the same way so there probably won’t be a ton of possessions or scoring, it’ll most likely stay pretty close.

I have confidence in Army because they are just really effective with this approach right now and they are frankly pretty good.

I have always felt like there are more Navy fans on BBI, they will pop up closer to game time I’m sure.
Go Navy, beat Army! oooh raaah!

I'd strongly prefer to see Army beat Navy in their regular

Black Knights uniforms. I hate they way this game has become an off-shoot of the Oregon Ducks costume contest.
Go Army, BEAT Navy!

That's the thing about Army - they play like you'd think an Army team would play, pretty much all on the ground. But they're good at it and they seem to have recruited athletes who fit that system. I haven't checked this week's rankings but I think they were actually ranked #23 last week, which is pretty remarkable for an academy team.
These Navy helmets from 2014 might be my favorite ever
