Since Rodgers is now "embattled," (OK, taking liberties for the sake of conversation), what would you be willing to have the Giants give up for him?

Picks? Players? Cash? Hell no, you'd never do it because _______________ (fill in the blank)? Too old?

It's Monday.
We'll never acquire Rodgers.
Dave in Hoboken : 12/3/2018 3:55 pm : link
But if we did, he immediately becomes the most talented QB to play the position for this franchise.
I'll play
tbonfig : 12/3/2018 4:02 pm : link
I'd offer all of the above, but I don't think you can create a package to entice GB without including one of our star offensive players, which I would not do. But a threesome of Odell, Barkley and Rodgers would be unbelievable.
Nothing

Dudes really good, but he's a dick.
Do not want.
He's 35.
Beezer : 12/3/2018 4:03 pm : link
Just wondered if anyone would actually like it? Or if it might be a bit of the Robinson Cano thing (for those opposed to the Mets acquiring him).

That's why I'd think it would HAVE to be picks. Maybe new coach, thoughts of a minor rebuild, their QB is 35 ...
I'll take the opposite view.
FStubbs : 12/3/2018 4:09 pm : link
Assuming I could immediately move Eli off the roster with no cap hit, I'd give up a 2nd for Rodgers at most.

He's going to take up a huge section of my salary cap. I'd need some assurances that he isn't in decline. He's taken a lot of abuse over the years.

You have got to be kidding ! You don't want the most talented QB of all time because you don't like his personality. Wow. You'd rather a guy that can't get out of his own way because of his "aww shucks" personality. Unreal.

Has bothered the shit out of me for the past 8 years.

If not for the epic Giant meltdown in 2010 vs. the Eagles which cost the Giants a playoff spot which then went to GB, Rodgers does not win a SB.

Would then likely turn out to be Dan Marino 2.0. Not bad company, but none of this "best QB ever" stuff.
I think Little Lord Fontleroy is available

And if David Tyree doesn't make one of the most impressive catches in NFL history, Eli Manning has no shot at the HoF. I obviously think Eli should have a serious shot at the HoF, but the way this board thinks about some of the greatest players to ever play at their positions is preposterous.

I wish people had some fucking clarity and evenhandedness about how they evaluate players.

Apparently it's the new "in" thing to do to start attempting to completely diminish not only one of the best QB's of this era, but one of the best QB's of all time.

That's sports fandom for ya.

Actually, I remember very well the circumstances that brought YAT to the Giants. Red Hickey was the new 49ers coach and he installed a 3 QB system of mobile QBs (Waters, Kilmer and I can’t recall the 3rd guy) who would alternate plays. YAT was NOT done by any means. He simply did NOT FIT into Hickey’s absurd QB schemes
How is he a dick ?
Ron from Ninerland : 12/3/2018 6:21 pm : link
Please refresh my memory. He didn't agree with his coach ? As if he's the first QB to disagree with his coach. What else ? Has he acted like an asshole in front of the press and on the field like OBJ ? Does he act like a jerk like Cam Newton. Has he tried to screw underage girls like Rothlesburger ?

I agree that we shouldn't deal for a 36 year old QB but is that a reason to trash him ?

Ash/arc- I am not trying to diminish AR in general.
CRinCA : 12/3/2018 7:36 pm : link
Just saying that he did "back in" to the playoffs ahead of his SB victory. What he did when he got there or what Eli did previously had no bearing on my comment.

After 22 years you'd think I'd lurk more than post around here. Tough crowd.
In today’s NFL you don’t want a veteran AR...
trueblueinpw : 12/3/2018 7:47 pm : link
You want a Goff or Wilson or Wentz playing on their rookie deal. Or you want a Patriot’s Way / Tom Brady / Robert Kraft / TB12 situation where you’re paid largely under the table and out of view of the pesky NFL salary cap rules. Rodgers in particular relies on his ability to move around a lot and that’s led to more than a few season ending injuries. He’s no kid and how many more times is he going break that clavicle? I don’t see him being traded but if he were it would be to a team that’s a QB away and that’s not us. Having said that, I’d send Webb and a conditional 3rd up there for the guy.

And somehow you don't consider a basically trapped on all sides with some lineman pulling him back by his jersey that he escapes and does a 180 finds Tyree 40 yards down the field and manages to put the ball where only Tyree could
catch it in the middle of the field and yes Tyree makes a
miraculous catch decides if Eli is hall of fame worthy ..
I don't think so !

By that meausre then Eli is better than his brother.

Because, you know, it’s all on Rogers why they don’t have more. Nevermind the fact he hasnt had talent at ANY offensive skill position since that SB and his defenses have been attrocious. I would argue Green Bay hasnt done anything to help him and he’s the sole reason they were competitive in the first place
