Regarding the tank, the bottom feeders
bceagle05 : 12/4/2018 10:41 am : link
seem pretty well defined - Phoenix, Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland, Nets and Knicks. Hard to see us falling past #6 in the pecking order. May the lottery gods smile upon us.
Speaking of which

I see a lot of people outside of this board wanting Zion from Duke. For those who watched Duke this year (I've only seen a few minutes) how does he look? Good fit?

He's far more skilled than he was billed coming into college. Great passer, great feel for the game. Average shooter at best. I also think he should drop down to probably 260 or so instead of 285 just to survive the wear and tear of a season.

But he's an absolute athletic freak. Reminds me of a Baby Barkley.
He's unique
Greg from LI : 12/4/2018 10:52 am : link
He gets compared to Barkley, but he's more explosive yet less skilled. If he ever develops a shot, he could be a true superstar, but I think his floor is pretty high regardless.
I've
DanMetroMan : 12/4/2018 10:54 am : link
been leading the Zion push since last year so you know I want him on the Knicks. He reminds me of a more explosive Anthony Mason.
I'm a Zionist
Anakim : 12/4/2018 10:59 am : link
I'd rather have him than Barrett
With Mudiay's rise and the amount of interest in Frank, I have to
Anakim : 12/4/2018 11:01 am : link
think a trade for Frank is more likely than not. Whether Mudiay is a long-term solution remains to be seen, but his play this year has been encouraging. Couple that with the lack of playing time for Frank and the fact that he was not a Perry pick and I have to think Frank may be on the move soon. Given the reported interest, I can't see how we can't get a first rounder+ for him.

sucks. I'm sorry. Trier's awful game or not I think very high odds he's as good a player as Hardaway for 1/100th the cost. Last night Hardaway 0 rebounds, -15 in 30 minutes. For a "scorer" the guy has an unusual amount of shooting slumps. I know he shot well last night but last 5 34% from the field including last night and 3 of those games combined 2 rebounds... over 95 minutes!!

yeah i have been sayimg keep him as 3rd guy but right now id rather have dot and trier as shooting guards for the future..

Welcome to the Darkside :)

Who exactly was he trying to outbid for Hardaway, and why? What purpose was that supposed to serve?

Ah well.....tank away, let's get another top young talent and hope for the best.

Mills was trying to inflate the contract so that the Hawks wouldn't match it. Simple as that. He overpaid and he knew it.

plus they have to opena roster spot soon for trier
I'm still not impressed with Mudiay
Enzo : 12/4/2018 11:29 am : link
He's shown some ability to score but he's all about his own shot and his defense sucks. I'd trade him or just let him walk after the season. I'd still do whatever they can to move Hardway and try to lock up Vonleh. I think Fizdale eventually puts Frank back in the rotation - similar to what he did with Dotson.

Keith : 12/4/2018 11:31 am : link

According to a report by Marc Berman in the New York Post, "some in the league believe the Knicks are stocking up their young assets and will make a major play for John Wall if he becomes available."

Although seemingly quite far-fetched, Berman writes that the "it would have to be a three-team deal with the Knicks throwing in Ntilikina, Dotson, Courtney Lee (for cap purposes), a 2020 first-round and second-round pick." We'll see if any other plugged-in league sources corroborate any conversations between New York and Washington.
16 nailed last nights game...
Keith : 12/4/2018 11:33 am : link
The Wizards came out from halftime and said we cannot lose to THIS team. They were quite determined and Wall was leading them. Actually, it looked like Wall became slightly agitated right before halftime and took his game to the next level. As I'm watching him, I'm thinking....if he played like this all the time, I'd love him on the Knicks! Thoughts on the Knicks going after Wall?
Zion Williamson is a beast
Keith : 12/4/2018 11:34 am : link
and should be a great NBA player, it's just a matter of how great. No chance the Knicks have a shot at him though. I think the Knicks will be closer to the last playoff spot than the 1st overall pick to be honest.
Not interested in Wall
Greg from LI : 12/4/2018 11:35 am : link
.
no way I want
Enzo : 12/4/2018 11:37 am : link
Wall's contract. He's good but not good enough to justify those dollars. All the reasons the Wizards are looking to trade him are reasons not to acquire him.
The problem with Wall
Keith : 12/4/2018 11:38 am : link
is that he doesn't play determined night in and night out like he did before the massive payday, IMO. Its a major risk, but the reward that he becomes that guy again in a different situation is enticing.

Yes it is. He has a trade kicker too, so we'll be paying him about $50 million per season. I'm very open to exploring the trade market, but not for John Wall.

I almost think the opposite, only because Mudiay's value will never be higher and Frank's will never be lower.

Maybe Mudiay still has no trade value, or it's less than Frank's. If that's the case, it should tell them something.

Ah thanks. I'm gonna have to watch a couple of Duke games then. Sounds very intriguing.

if they took
nygiants16 : 12/4/2018 11:49 am : link
hardaway, lee and frank and a 2020 first for wall i would do it...

you still hVe close to max money to add a 3rd guy or use that money to fill out roster and keep vonleh...

plus you keep knox and this years pick..

i do think wall would be better
nygiants16 : 12/4/2018 11:53 am : link
with an all star big man rather than a guy like beal because with a ig he can have the ball in his hands and jjst create..

part of the problem for wall and beal is they both want to create..
Mudiay is still the same the player he was
ghost718 : 12/4/2018 12:01 pm : link
Shitzdale tore him down and built the same house over again.

A huge FUCK no to getting Wall
LawrenceTaylor56 : 12/4/2018 12:02 pm : link
He turns 29 next year.

Seems to be a cancer in the lockeroom.

His extension will pay him 37, 40, 43, and then 46m at the age of 32.

Already has had knee injuries. No thanks.
Agree - no thank you to Wall unless

Haha, so true. Isiah would probably trade Knox, Trier and a bunch of other assets to get Wall.
Rather have Kemba Walker than Wall

That Wall trade report doesn't make sense to me.
JustaDiscussion : 12/4/2018 12:37 pm : link
Shouldn't it be the Wizards giving up the picks in order to get off of that horrible contract? If the Knicks made that trade I'd stop watching like I did in the 2000s.
No interest in Wall
GMEN46 : 12/4/2018 1:11 pm : link
I was just reading from sources hat no one has any interest in wall and that he is untradable. There is no way knicks should be giving up that much. I would send hardaway and Lee to the wizards as part of a three team where he other team gets wall and we get expirings. Other than hat no thanks
Knicks
TyreeHelmet : 12/4/2018 1:19 pm : link
You cannot trade for Wall with that contract. Maybe if they are sweetening the deal with picks and taking back THJ and Lee, but even then I would be reluctant. With his trade kicker you are paying him close to 50 million a year- almost half the salary cap!

And to be honest he just doesn't look like a guy who takes care of himself. Body doesn't look in top shape and honestly he looked tired in his face last night. Doesn't exactly look like a spry 28 year old and hasn't apologized for his partying ways. Nothing wrong with that, but would definitely worry me if I'm paying him close to 200 million the next 4 seasons...

Knicks need to find a team desperate to win this season and try to move Hardaway. Same thing for Lee but to a lesser extent. Teams I would target-

Pelicans- tough to make the salaries work. Would probably have to include Randle.

Kings- don't own their pick and have the expirings.

Grizzlies- have the expirings and he fits well there.

Cavs- use the the Jr Smith and Hill contracts but would probably have to involved a 3rd team...

Probably the Hornets but I like the thinking behind this trade. Clears up 23 million this offseason while allowing Knicks to resign Walker using his bird rights - cap hold is only 18 million.

It will drastically improve the Knicks this year and he probably drags them to a playoff spot. It all depends on how they view the offseason. If this helps them sign Durant, then its a no brainer. But it also knocks them out of contention for a top pick.

I love Kemba though and my dream offseason is him and Durant on the Knicks...

Even if you miss on Kemba and say end up with Kris Middleton as a backup option.

Kemba-Kris-Knox-KP-Mitchell

1st rounder (Cam Reddish as a filler)
Dotson
Mudiay
Vonleh

as a bench.

That's a pretty damn good team if one of Knox/Reddish can become a legit 2nd/3rd option.

Hardaway is underwater money and Frank like a possible bust. The 2020 pick could be in the 20s if the Knicks have Walker/Durant/Walker.

I think Hornets do everything they can to keep Walker, but if they decide to move him IMO they could do a lot better.

He should be kept if only as an example of their ability to draft and develop a player.
Because Jackson picked him?
