What are the Knicks saying? And what could we realistically get back?
I haven't seen anything coming from the Knicks but here are the teams being reported as expressing interest in Frank.
"The Timberwolves, Magic, Grizzlies, Nets and Suns have all inquired about the 20-year-old Knicks guard, according to multiple reports." Link - ( New Window )
He's been a disaster. I was listening to The Ringer's NBA Show earlier & learned that Washington hasn't won more than 50 games in a season in 40 years. That's insane. Hell, even the Knicks won 50 plus games this decade & we're a dumpster fire.
as impressive and clutch as Mudiay's shooting has been in the past few wins, where is his passing? His assists numbers haven't been impressive. This team still desperately needs someone who can set everybody else up. It would help for times like now when they struggle to score.

he did have 7 assists last game..

And isn't that his high for the season? Fiz said he was the best passer on the team, I guess that isn't saying much, but I was expecting more.
I know knicks are going to lose, but I am completely unimpressed with this wizards team. There is no chance of the wizards team is doing anything. I would much rather be in knicks position then Wizards. Wall is overrated, Beal is overrated and Porter is overrated and they are all making max bucks.
of have him come down with another "neck issue." It's a waste of minutes.
I dunno. It's interesting. THJr with the Knicks' worst plus/minus at -15, and Lee with the best plus/minus at +13. I agree about trading him but you have to showcase him first.
He and Knox are developing a nice chemistry too, which is great to see. Dotson and Vonleh are two guys who have really taken their opportunities and run with them. Perfect complementary players on a good team.
He is not afraid to sit guys down. Frank has been absolute crap and Fis stuck him on the pine. Not a lot of coaches would dop that with a high draft pick.
Dotson and Mudiay have been much better after being benched. Let's see it if it works for Frank
Knicks finished well yesterday, but I put that more
on the Wizards. They went into the equivalent of a prevent defense: Run the clock down and chuck up a contested three. I'll never understand why a superior team doesn't just keep playing basketball at the end of a game.
As for the Knicks going forward, I do hope that they can find some sort of facilitator either in the draft or in free agency, but I also hold out hope that Trier and Knox can develop that ability going forward. A starting five of Trier, Dotson, Knox, KP, and Robinson in a couple of years could be fun if they all grow properly (learn to cut without the ball and pass out of double teams). Granted, the hope is that they can find more talent going forward.
Right now their offense doesn't seem to rely on a point guard at all. It seems like at least half the time, the "lead guard" dribbles the ball to half court and then immediately passes it to the big at the top of the three point line and runs to the corner. Not much facilitating going on.

This is why i do not want reddish, he has that same all the talent in the world but sometimes looks lazy type of talk about him...
How about Fizdale actually deploying some sort of offense and see if Frank can excel in that. Having Frank just stand in the corner while watching Burke or Zo dribble the air out of the ball does shit for Frank and his development.
I have a feeling he signs a 1 year deal and becomes a free agent and leaves..
Deadline should be coming up soon, i wonder if that is why frank rumors have started..
I dont think they are letting Trier go, it should only cost around $3 mil a year to keep him. He has too much potential to let him go for such a small amount of money.

Fizdale has an offense. It's a lot more likely that Frank just isn't a good offensive player. He's not aggressive or decisive enough, and that has to apparently be constantly dragged out of him.

He has an offense? What is it? Swing the ball around the perimeter? ISO? No offball movement. Only Mario and Dotson are the only two players interested in cutting. Can't tell you how many times I've seen Kanter get the ball at the TOP of the key.
There is no offense yet. I don't know if he is just doing extended try outs to see who can do what. But his offense is a joke aside from the occasional pick and roll at the top of the key.

Why are you making about the coach that players aren't moving without the ball? You think that's by coaching design? You really think the coach wants "stand in the corner and watch what happens"?
sucks. I'm sorry. Trier's awful game or not I think very high odds he's as good a player as Hardaway for 1/100th the cost. Last night Hardaway 0 rebounds, -15 in 30 minutes. For a "scorer" the guy has an unusual amount of shooting slumps. I know he shot well last night but last 5 34% from the field including last night and 3 of those games combined 2 rebounds... over 95 minutes!!

Why are you making about the coach that players aren't moving without the ball? You think that's by coaching design? You really think the coach wants "stand in the corner and watch what happens"?
Lol. Fizdale has no problem benching players who aren't performing. Yet he won't hold accountable zero offball movement?
What offense are you seeing that I'm missing? It's a bunch of freelancing out there and heavy ISO plays. That's his offense right now.
Knicks had trouble with the double team last night, took the air out
Why are you making about the coach that players aren't moving without the ball? You think that's by coaching design? You really think the coach wants "stand in the corner and watch what happens"?
And why am I making it about the coach? Umm because it's the coaches job maybe to have these guys running an offense?
in the season, I said he wouldn't be able to sustain it, and look where we are now: 40% overall, 36% on threes. Exactly the same player he's always been.
We've uncovered a couple of gems in Trier and Dotson, and we may lose one or both of them because of Timmy and his $18 million salary. Makes me want to strangle Steve Mills.
seem pretty well defined - Phoenix, Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland, Nets and Knicks. Hard to see us falling past #6 in the pecking order. May the lottery gods smile upon us.
I see a lot of people outside of this board wanting Zion from Duke. For those who watched Duke this year (I've only seen a few minutes) how does he look? Good fit?

He's far more skilled than he was billed coming into college. Great passer, great feel for the game. Average shooter at best. I also think he should drop down to probably 260 or so instead of 285 just to survive the wear and tear of a season.
But he's an absolute athletic freak. Reminds me of a Baby Barkley.
He gets compared to Barkley, but he's more explosive yet less skilled. If he ever develops a shot, he could be a true superstar, but I think his floor is pretty high regardless.
think a trade for Frank is more likely than not. Whether Mudiay is a long-term solution remains to be seen, but his play this year has been encouraging. Couple that with the lack of playing time for Frank and the fact that he was not a Perry pick and I have to think Frank may be on the move soon. Given the reported interest, I can't see how we can't get a first rounder+ for him.

He's shown some ability to score but he's all about his own shot and his defense sucks. I'd trade him or just let him walk after the season. I'd still do whatever they can to move Hardway and try to lock up Vonleh. I think Fizdale eventually puts Frank back in the rotation - similar to what he did with Dotson.
According to a report by Marc Berman in the New York Post, "some in the league believe the Knicks are stocking up their young assets and will make a major play for John Wall if he becomes available."
Although seemingly quite far-fetched, Berman writes that the "it would have to be a three-team deal with the Knicks throwing in Ntilikina, Dotson, Courtney Lee (for cap purposes), a 2020 first-round and second-round pick." We'll see if any other plugged-in league sources corroborate any conversations between New York and Washington.
The Wizards came out from halftime and said we cannot lose to THIS team. They were quite determined and Wall was leading them. Actually, it looked like Wall became slightly agitated right before halftime and took his game to the next level. As I'm watching him, I'm thinking....if he played like this all the time, I'd love him on the Knicks! Thoughts on the Knicks going after Wall?
and should be a great NBA player, it's just a matter of how great. No chance the Knicks have a shot at him though. I think the Knicks will be closer to the last playoff spot than the 1st overall pick to be honest.
Wall's contract. He's good but not good enough to justify those dollars. All the reasons the Wizards are looking to trade him are reasons not to acquire him.
is that he doesn't play determined night in and night out like he did before the massive payday, IMO. Its a major risk, but the reward that he becomes that guy again in a different situation is enticing.
Yes it is. He has a trade kicker too, so we'll be paying him about $50 million per season. I'm very open to exploring the trade market, but not for John Wall.
RE: With Mudiay's rise and the amount of interest in Frank, I have to

I almost think the opposite, only because Mudiay's value will never be higher and Frank's will never be lower.
Maybe Mudiay still has no trade value, or it's less than Frank's. If that's the case, it should tell them something.

Ah thanks. I'm gonna have to watch a couple of Duke games then. Sounds very intriguing.
Shouldn't it be the Wizards giving up the picks in order to get off of that horrible contract? If the Knicks made that trade I'd stop watching like I did in the 2000s.
I was just reading from sources hat no one has any interest in wall and that he is untradable. There is no way knicks should be giving up that much. I would send hardaway and Lee to the wizards as part of a three team where he other team gets wall and we get expirings. Other than hat no thanks
You cannot trade for Wall with that contract. Maybe if they are sweetening the deal with picks and taking back THJ and Lee, but even then I would be reluctant. With his trade kicker you are paying him close to 50 million a year- almost half the salary cap!
And to be honest he just doesn't look like a guy who takes care of himself. Body doesn't look in top shape and honestly he looked tired in his face last night. Doesn't exactly look like a spry 28 year old and hasn't apologized for his partying ways. Nothing wrong with that, but would definitely worry me if I'm paying him close to 200 million the next 4 seasons...
Knicks need to find a team desperate to win this season and try to move Hardaway. Same thing for Lee but to a lesser extent. Teams I would target-
Pelicans- tough to make the salaries work. Would probably have to include Randle.
Kings- don't own their pick and have the expirings.
Grizzlies- have the expirings and he fits well there.
Cavs- use the the Jr Smith and Hill contracts but would probably have to involved a 3rd team...
Kemba for Hardaway, Frank, top 5 protected first in 2020. Who says no?
Probably the Hornets but I like the thinking behind this trade. Clears up 23 million this offseason while allowing Knicks to resign Walker using his bird rights - cap hold is only 18 million.
It will drastically improve the Knicks this year and he probably drags them to a playoff spot. It all depends on how they view the offseason. If this helps them sign Durant, then its a no brainer. But it also knocks them out of contention for a top pick.
I love Kemba though and my dream offseason is him and Durant on the Knicks...

Even if you miss on Kemba and say end up with Kris Middleton as a backup option.
Kemba-Kris-Knox-KP-Mitchell
1st rounder (Cam Reddish as a filler)
Dotson
Mudiay
Vonleh
as a bench.
That's a pretty damn good team if one of Knox/Reddish can become a legit 2nd/3rd option.

Cavs- use the the Jr Smith and Hill contracts but would probably have to involved a 3rd team...
I was just thinking that if this were to have any legs, it would have Dolan's paw prints all over it...

Kemba for Hardaway, Frank, top 5 protected first in 2020. Who says no?

Even if you miss on Kemba and say end up with Kris Middleton as a backup option.
Kemba-Kris-Knox-KP-Mitchell
1st rounder (Cam Reddish as a filler)
Dotson
Mudiay
Vonleh
as a bench.
That's a pretty damn good team if one of Knox/Reddish can become a legit 2nd/3rd option.
Hardaway is underwater money and Frank like a possible bust. The 2020 pick could be in the 20s if the Knicks have Walker/Durant/Walker.
I think Hornets do everything they can to keep Walker, but if they decide to move him IMO they could do a lot better.

Agent Raymond Brothers: Markelle (Fultz) has been diagnosed with Neurogenic Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, (TOS), a physical injury.
TOS affects nerves between the neck and shoulder resulting in abnormal functional movement and range of motion
Nets also interested in Frank
No thanks
Might as well add to our collection and trade for Stanley Johnson. Haha
hardaway and frank for ariza and bucks 1st
because it is berman, he is making up stuff again
Speculation it was a motorcycle accident.
But that would be confirmation for a lot of non believers.
