Let me preface this by saying that I know there may be other ways the Giants can get into the playoffs as a Wild Card at 8-8, but this is specifically regarding the Giants winning the division-- I'm almost positive that there is only one series of events that will lead to the Giants winning the division. (Note I am assuming there will be no ties in these games, I'm not sure exactly how that would impact things, but for now to keep it simple let's just assume there will be no ties in these games.)
This series of events involves the outcome of 12 different games that all have to go a particular way for the Giants to be crowned the NFC East Champions. Any deviation from these outcomes in any one of the 12 games (other than ties perhaps) will result in the Giants not winning the division. This explains why there is less than a 1% chance of the Giants winning the division.
Below is the list of the 12 games, and I have put in bold the team that needs to win for the Giants to win the division. This can basically be used as a guide for exactly who to root for each week, because again, if any one of these games results in the non-bold team losing then the Giants will not win the division.
WEEK 14:
Giants @ Redskins
Eagles @ Cowboys
WEEK 15:
Titans @
Giants
Redskins @
Jaguars
Cowboys @
Colts
Eagles @
Rams
WEEK 16:
Giants @ Colts
Redskins @
Titans
Bucs @ Cowboys
Texans @ Eagles
WEEK 17:
Cowboys @
Giants
Eagles @
Redskins
See the link for this scenario in the NYT simulator. You will see that if you change the outcome of anyone of these games (like I said, other than ties) then the chances of the Giants winning the division goes to zero. The Giants cannot win any tiebreakers over their division foes, so their only hope is for all 3 other teams to finish 7-9 and the Giants finish 8-8. There is no other possible finish in the standings that would result in the Giants winning the division.
And yes, I'm saying there is a chance, albeit miniscule, no need to post the "Dumb & Dumber" meme. Also I am not posting this to give hope nor to kill hope in any way, I just happen to like probability and statistics and I like when things are as simplified as possible. This is a situation where things have become dreadfully simple: just 12 games, only one series of events (other than ties).
If anyone disagrees with my conclusion here please let me know and I will delete the thread (unless it's just a slight modification or something).

But hey maybe it will be fun to root for all of this to happen up until one them goes wrong amirite? sigh.
All my chips are in too, brother! I like the way you think.

The Philly game was a back-breaker. But what amazes me is that -- with seemingly little to play for against the Bears -- the Giants gave it their all, and prevailed. I assumed after Philly the Giants would come out sleep walking. Instead, they fought like hell and beat the Bears fair and square.
However, like you stated, until they re out of it, there is a better rooting interest

Agreed, the zero-excuse 19-3 thoroughly dominated first half blown lead was indeed the dagger. Did I say inexcusable? Shurmur should have been ashamed of himself
it was first piece of puzzle
for this scenario to happen
I would like to see the team win out, if they do lose win the divisional games, maybe blow someone out, and then there is the final game against the Cowboys. That is the Giants Super Bowl right there. I hope that game means something to the Cowboys so the Giants can ene the their dreams and prove the team has improved since the start of the year.
Had they hung on against the Eagles and Carolina, who knows.
O line was still hot garbage at the time.
This team is playing pretty decent ball right now. And it's good to see.

Actually, if the Redskins had won last night, all that would have changed is it would have meant we needed the EAGLES to beat the Skins in week 17. Giants still had a path to win division regardless of what happened last night.
But realistically I'f like them to beat washington and dallas....please!!
Stop what shit exactly? Doing math? This is a Giants message board and I simply stated the facts about what would be required for the Giants to win the 2018 NFCE Title. In fact, I made it painfully clear that my purpose in posting this was not to create any sort of false hope nor kill the hope of any fan, it was to simply state the facts for those interested to know the possibilities/probabilities. In fact, any reasonable, logical person who reads my post would draw the conclusion that the Giants are ridiculously unlikely to win the division, so your post is simply stating the obvious and is redundant to my thread. Everyone knows the Giants aren't making the damn playoffs, they've disappointed their fans year in and year out for almost a decade, and yet we're all still here posting on a Giants football forum like fools, you didn't enlighten anybody with your comment.
LOL Milton... if you read my full post I specifically told people not to post that meme... I think that might be why. Unless you did so ironically? If so, touche.
