I loathe him as a man, but its tough to say that when he's had legitimate life threatening health issues.
I'm guessing this is half healthy related and half Ohio St. realizing they fucked up by not firing him and allowing him to now "step down". I don't think this has anything to do with his ability to win.
I have the same thought as you. When he said that his wife never told him about the texts that was it for me. Heck of a coach but definitely a other side to him. Definitely see USC a landing spot if he does come back.

It has nothing to do with what happened over the summer
They kept showing him during the Maryland game and he looked like a man on the verge of a stroke multiple times. I said to my kids that man needs a break from the sidelines.

Ohh, well since you say so...
Sorry, I know what I’m talking about here. He is not being asked to step down
But I’ve never understood why Matt Campbell is mentioned for every big job. 19-18 at Iowa State
The 8 wins in 2017 and 8 this year (9 if they win the Bowl game) is the most for Iowa State since 2000. The last time they had a winning record before 2017 was 2009 and they hadn’t been to a Bowl game since 2012
Hey asshole, I worked for the guy for three years. I’m not even really defending him, I’m just just sharing what I know on the situation. If it’s not welcome and we just want to continue on speculating, that’s fine. Carry on
I don’t think it’s a hard “you need to leave now”. But I think the fiasco made his life more difficult, added more scrutiny to his job, and wouldn’t surprise me at all if Ohio St walks him nicely out the door.
I don’t think they fired him. I think him leaving makes things easier and they won’t put up a fight about it.

I worked for Bud Foster and Frank Beamer for 4.
It seems your demeanor is just like Urban's.
This isn't the only thread you have done this on.
Funny.... I don’t really ever have issues with anybody on this site except for you who seems to follow me around on this topic. I have some insight on the situation. Didn’t attack anybody. You come in with a hilarious quip, honestly just tired of it.

It’s a fair point to make. He was never “long” for this job as he was not going to be a Paterno, Bowden, or even a Saban coaching into his late 60s. He’s just not built for it. I thought he’d go 9-10 seasons here. Speculation was he’d step down once his son went off to play college baseball so he could see him play more. That’s happening next year.
The health stuff with him is legitimate. I know it’s common fodder, believe me I understand it. If it were a different school I’d probably joke about it too. But it is legit and any time you’re talking about migraine/brain issues, that’s really affecting on the ability to do your job. So it was always going to force him out earlier than expected. His family is extremely tight so you know they see how it’s wearing on him and they’re probably pulling him in this direction too
I think the events over the summer probably only added to that stress, and potentially made him re-evaluate his status earlier than expected. He’s always been demonstrative on the sidelines but this season it was downright painful at times. So I think from that perspective, yeah the suspension did factor in.
But I think if the administration could hold onto him they would. As promising as Day is, he’s still an unknown. Urban, for all his flaws and there are many, is one of the two greatest coaches of this college era. They’d keep him forever if they could, truly believe that. This is all his call
Didn’t mean to shoot you down before uconn, it was a fair point
Much if the staff is staying, including Urban’s support staff guys that have been with him since Florida. That includes the director of recruiting Pantoni, who really is one of the “pioneers” of position in a college program. Does a ton of the leg work behind the scenes. That helps, but they’ll likely take a short term recruiting hit, it’s inevitable. At least until Day can prove himself

In this case, "running away" -- or better put, mutually agreeing to separate from Ohio State which does not want him anymore either -- is the right thing to do. Is there honor in stubbornly sitting through this scandal?
Means OSU must have crap in the pipeline.

Has to look good for him to be blue.

Yep. Was probably going to happen anyway but this certainly helps
Or USC.
Wouldn’t surprise me if he eventually ends up at ether SC or Notre Dame.
Yup. His health is such a mystery. Heart problems brain cysts.

I don’t buy the Day hype. They should of hired Campbell from Iowa State

I'll take "Irrelevant Information No One Asked For" for 600, Alex.
