Assuming they end up with the draft order pick they're at now - (7?) and if the Giants don't ( or can't ) get Justin Hebert, which of these edge rushers would you want? Assuming all the measurable are same. Curious about the opinions of those in the "know" i.e. much more knowledgeable than myself.
The bulk of the talent this year on the Dline is DT.
100% agree. I have been saying this for weeks. Allen will be a nice fit in the this scheme. He can bend, sets and edge, is a speed rusher and is always around the ball. Non stop motor too. Probably will be available in the 8-12 range.
Vernon & Barwin should be gone, and you've got a 2nd year Carter, Kareem Martin, Avery Moss and no one else.
I really hate that theory...if you go by that, then the Giants never should have drafted OBJ, because LSU rarely sends good receivers to the NFL.
Youve got to look at the prospect alone, not the teams past history at that position. Thats a quick way to run your organization into the ground.
I havent watched him week in and week out, but the only thing that worries me is that their defense wasnt as stout as they should have been, or like theyve been in previous years.
Agreed.

Clemson defensive prospects scare me...other than Beasley it seems like everyone else has been a huge bust or always has injury issues. That being said...Ferrell is an absolute monster.

I typically agree with that, especially when it's applied across multiple decades (like Penn State RBs or USC QBs), but I do think there's something to Venables doing such a good job coaching up his players that there isn't a lot of upside left in his guys when they reach the NFL.
It may sound counter-intuitive, but that's often where busts occur - guys that are already maxed out (or close to it) relative to their potential. Even the best college football players will bust in the NFL if they don't take another big step forward when they start playing on Sundays.

I hear you, but I still disagree. Clemson recruits players on Alabama's level, and sometimes you get a stud, sometimes they level out once they get to college, or some just look great in college, and not so much in the pros. But when you are beating offensive tackles around the edge regularly, you have to take that chance.
Who are the busts that came from Clemsons defensive line besides maybe the kid who went to Buffalo in the first round?
This one isn't close to me. Allen was one of the most improved players in all of college. He went from good to elite. That doesn't just happen.
He has very little help and he is still wildly productive. You would pencil him in for 8 sacks conservatively if healthy.
He is one of my favorite players in the draft.
