Not many things are better than when I get home from work and my two pups are running down the stairs, tails wagging, barking in excitement to greet me at the door. And Sadie, the eldest, always brings her ball with her so we can start playing immediately. Best creatures on earth.

We've had our current (yellow) lab since he was a puppy, but our first (black) lab came from one of the Lab Rescue organizations. According to my vet at the time, because labs are usually so good-natured, they adjust to new homes and new people better than most breeds.
Sully will be fine. And as a "working dog" he'll probably be happier having a new person to assist.
You're not allowed to spend your emotional energy on this dog because he was only with GHWB for 6 months.
