How about Deionte Thompson in the first?

adamg : 12/4/2018 8:16 pm
Dude seems like the kind of playmaking FS we've needed for a long time. Considering we seem to have decided to start playing football again and winning a few games, he may end up being a value pick for us in the first. Is he on anybody else's radar?
Not saying we don't need a FS and I am about value over position

but I would be shocked if Gettleman didn't pick a QB/pass rusher/OL in the first. Just my two cents. If we are picking a FS they better believe he is the next Ed Reed.

Josh Allen, OLB, Kentucky.
OT in the 2nd.

on the Justin Herbert train, but Josh Allen or Jonah Williams are good options at this point in time. Things will likely change in the next three months.
He’s my initial first choice

Enough with the Curtis Riley’s and Darian Thompson’s. We need a capable player at FS.
We have lots of needs

He is an awesome player and could have a huge impact.

I wouldn't hate it.

I would prefer improving pass rush if value is there.
Ol - DL

I don’t think that the Giants will be in the position to draft Hebert .
Therefore, I would draft the best edge rusher, DL, or OL

Thd Giants have to rebuild their lines no more skill players in the first two rounds

This is a good way to look at it.

I really liked Minkah Fitzpatrick in this last draft. A real playmaker. And saw value in drafting him had we traded down. I don’t think Thompson is that good - yet - so it would be a stretch to draft him if we are in the top half of the draft.

As long as they

concentrate on fixing the pass rush. I think this D would've been much better if they'd have kept JPP. My guess was $$! Either way, they badly need to address the pass rush and add to the linebackers. Free safety is a need but I see a weak D-line as a big part of that problem!

I could easily see Deionte Thompson as an option in the first round if he is there.

A quality option to play the single high FS is potentially a game changer for Bettcher's defence.

It will really depend on how things unfold.

The other guy on my radar is Kentucky OLB Josh Allen.

I am not sure we will be picking in the top 5, but we should be picking in the top 10.

Not a top half of the first round pick

Would be too much of a reach there.
Let's be honest with ourselves.
mittenedman : 12/5/2018 8:42 am : link
As awesome as it would be to get a great FS, he isn't impacting the bottom line (wins and losses) like a great OL, QB or pass rusher is.

To me, FS in the upper 1st is a luxury pick not too many teams in the upper 1st can afford.

no it wouldn’t. Dude has ridiculous range, tackling ability, and ball skills, he’s one of the better safeties I’ve seen come out in a while. Top 15 lock.

FS,OL,ER and they are all nearly identical in ranking you have to go OL. It's a need neglected way too long. But if the FS is graded light years ahead of the rest I'm cool with value over position.

IDK. I can think of a number of big plays we’ve given up this year that don’t happen if we have a better FS.

... there is now: 2019 NFL Mock Draft 2.0. Lot of presumptions, of course, about who picks where -- but according to them, we pass on Hebert (and he goes 4 picks later) and take a DL ahead of the first OL to go. Deionte Thompson goes 10 picks after Hebert. I suspect that's enough of a summary to keep folks away from it in droves. (Oh, many more defensive players than offensive ones go in their 1-round mock.)
