Actually is one of the better Umpires in the game. Has worked 2 Super Bowl's and a number of Conference Championship games. The problem is his behavior can be erratic and an incident like this calls into question his work on the field if his vindictiveness causes him to call/not call certain borderline fouls where the league will do the equivalent of saying the play stands when it comes to grading officials (won't downgrade, but won't highlight as something done correctly).

I'd argue that it's an individually-directed invective which can't be justified by general players call officials... Unless there is specific history between these two people and this was continuation or retaliation.
Hughes yelled at the official "you call me a bitch, I'll catch you". According to SI, he later denied the whole thing (guess he didn't see the cameras filming), and said he couldn't recall if the guy had called him a bitch.
