Landon Collins out for the year?

Rjanyg : 12/5/2018 11:22 am
My son just texted me. Shit.
Not a big deal

Now they can give snaps to Sean Chandler.
Yeah. Just got a notification from BR.

Hoping for a quick and full recovery for him. He wasn't having that great a year to begin with and now it's been cut short. I don't see any team giving him a big contract this year. He may have to settle for a one year prove it deal. Hopefully with the Giants.
He might have shoulder surgery
superspynyg : 12/5/2018 11:31 am : link
which might end his career as a Giant. He is a free agent after this year.

change might to will.
What a disappointing past two years

After his sophomore season I thought he would be a perennial all-pro and building block. He didn't make close to the impact since then and I don't think he will be back. I wish Gettleman accepted the Chiefs 3rd round offer at the deadline.
I'd for sure want to bring him back
Anakim : 12/5/2018 11:36 am : link
But he's going to want to big bucks and I wouldn't give it to him given his questionable health and spotty play the last couple of seasons.

Questionable health given this injury, of course. He's been durable throughout his tenure with the Giants.
Hoping it's not the last
Kyle in NY : 12/5/2018 11:39 am : link
we see of him with the Giants
Man, I thought he was going to be a stud
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 12/5/2018 11:39 am : link
for us for a decade or so after '16, but he's regressed. I'm not sure about giving out big $ to him.
I don't think he's regressed
Kyle in NY : 12/5/2018 11:41 am : link
he still has the same strengths and weaknesses as before. The talent and overall play of the defense around him has regressed though, and brought him down with it. He's been asked to do more than he's capable of. We never put him next to a competent safety. Still a good player
He hasn't regressed.
Ace718 : 12/5/2018 11:47 am : link
He never was very good in coverage and has been exposed a lot over the last couple of seasons. Lack of a pass rush and good corners has weakened his performance. Definitely not looking at a big contract.
The question now becomes..
FatMan in Charlotte : 12/5/2018 11:49 am : link
what is Collins worth next year.

Shoulder surgery is extremely inconsistent and there will be good arguments made to letting him walk or coming in with a low offer.
...
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 12/5/2018 11:52 am : link
Yeah, perhaps regressed isn't the word I should have used. He just looked all worldly in '16 & hasn't looked that good since. He's no doubt been hurt by the talent surrounding him, but he's never been an ace in coverage.
Good luck Collins!
trueblueinpw : 12/5/2018 11:53 am : link
At best he’s been a neutral player the past two seasons. But the reality is that O-cos have been targeting Collins in their game plans for almost two seasons and he hasn’t been able to adjust. And it’s not just his coverage skills that have been exposed. Partly on him, partly on the coaches probably but either way, he’s not a plus player. Didn’t want to sign him before his shoulder injury. Don’t want to sign him now.

Didn't he break his arm last year?

everybody wants big bucks - OBJ wanted to be the highest paid player in the league

At the right price I'd bring him back
Do you think
5BowlsSoon : 12/5/2018 4:37 pm : link
This is a huge loss for us this year? I hate to say this because I don’t analyze safeties very well, but it seems Collins is a liability when not near the line of scrimmage.

Well, OBJ is the highest paid WR in the league. A slight step-down. Collins for sure will want 10M+ per.
