He has a $400K per game roster bonus, so would save $1.6 mill by not activating.
They save $2.6 mill by cutting him at the end of the season and only will have $250k dead money according to OTC.
Every once in a while, you get signings like this where the vast majority of the fan base and basically anyone who weighs in knows it's a crappy deal. I'll never really understand these. Was there ANYONE remotely knowledgable who thought this was a good move at the time? Just didn't make any sense.
We don't control our own destiny. We would have if Shurmur didn't blow it for us in the second half of the Philly game. We had that game won. 4 in a row doesn't give us shit now.

Well then it makes zero sense to activate him or even to have him back next year. If DG does anything other than let him go then I will have a serious problem with that.

Reminds me of that guy we signed for one day: Sheffield Obrien or something like that

Ah, the O'Brien Schofield fiasco... a Giant for about 45 minutes.

More often than not it is simply a case of a broken clock being right twice a day.

One of the funniest line that came out of that was imagining JR coming the the realization that O'Brien Schofield wasn't two people

I'm pretty sure it's $400K aggregate roster bonuses for the season, so $25K per game. Otherwise, his roster bonuses alone would roll up to more than the value of his contract for 2018.
DG moves on from his mistakes vs. doubling down on them.
I doubt Stewart is in the NFL next season.
I wouldn’t be patting him on the back too much, he’s still the guy that brought Stewart and a lot of other losers in that sabotaged the year. We’ll see if he can do better next year.
One could surmise that DG just wanted to give this guy a golden parachute out of the league by overpaying and signing him. Know they were very close in NC, but he has produced nothing here to justify his contract. Now he is done ??

It's pretty clear that Gettleman stands on old fashioned football roots. Aside from misjudging whatever Stewart had left (not sure how anyone could think he had much left), he probably felt like Barkley could benefit from having a veteran RB. He was just careless with cap resources because he puts his own value on things
RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: Does that impact anything salary-wise? Â
one would have to think that it does.
What, no “4 in a row or we don’t go”?

Barkley no longer needs mentoring

He's under contract for next season. They haven't moved on yet.

That makes more sense...tks

I nearly shat myself when I heard the $ Reese was going to give this JAG. Thank goodness he "failed" a physical.
Stewart was clearly a DG blunder and I like DG.

I may have mentioned my displeasure as well a few times :-)
but the typical defenders of the faith were ok with it...

Barkley should have been mentoring Stewart.
