He tried to hide changing his # to 75, but the refs found him collecting a check in Jacksonville.
Guy looks fat and gets absolutely no movement in the run game. Hes so bad they flag him for holding even when he isn't lol can't make this shit up.
He doesn't play here anymore. Why follow what he does? Â
for several years but stunk the place up appearing to have a lousy attitude. a wasted # 9 over all pick.
Funny others posted several times about Eli rotten Apple sucking after being picked up by the Saints WTF?
he was horrible last night. Dude was fanning on blocks and was holding on quite a few plays, drawing a few flags. One was uncalled for, the rest were totally a penalty. He's just not a good player.
Not sure how Eli was expected to function behind that. Unfair criticism. Flowers being in Jackonsonville now makes me wonder if Coughlin had a big hand in drafting him.

There is no need to look deeper into a possible relationship between the two other than Jax was starting their 3rd LT on the season. Let's be clear. The only reason he is starting now, is because their 3rd LT has been injured. He was a young, healthy, cheap OL with experience at LT. Doesn't mean he is any good or that there is an affinity for a former drafted player. He is just a body that still isn't any good at getting in a defender's way.
Wow almost forgot about him. Good point. Honesty, the Eli Apple pick still infuriates me. The fact Reese let it be known that Floyd and Conklin were his 1a and 1b and we ended up with 1c picking 10th overall is just sad.
Reese had some really bad picks over the years and some really good ones/great ones like all GMs but his worst pick by far was Ryan Nassib...they traded up for the guy and could have used those picks on interior offensive lineman.

I guess I’m just surprised it was Coughlin who gave Flowers another chance. Not to say he’s the GM and Jax only does what Coughlin tells them to (maybe he was against it), but it’s not like he nor Coach Flaherty didn’t know how awful Flowers was.

Nassib was a headscratcher more because we traded up to draft a backup QB when our starter was only 32 years old and two years removed from a Super Bowl MVP. Still, he was only a 4th round pick so hard to call that the worst. Especially when you have two Top 10 picks in the first round that didn't even stay with the team for their whole rookie contracts. Flowers or Apple, take your pick. Hands down the two worst picks.

Again, whether Coughlin ordered it or Dave Caldwell acted on his own, they were playing a 3rd string LT. A young, healthy, player with 3 years starting LT experience becomes available. We are still paying the guaranteed salary, so Tom/Dave were able to sign him for the league minimum. Because it was mid-season, he will be paid even less ($500K).
Everyone in the league has seen how awful Flowers was/has been. But not every team has had the misfortune of starting their 3rd LT by mid-season. Even after Ereck was signed, he still couldn't push the 3rd LT to the bench. He is only starting because the 3rd stringer is hurt.
2014 YEAR IN REVIEW: The overall play of the New York Giants offensive line improved in 2014 from its dreadful performance in 2013 but the unit was still sub par. The Giants were tied for 28th in the NFL with only 3.6 yards per rushing attempt. Pass protection was better as the Giants gave up 30 sacks on the season, which was 9th-best in the NFL. But that figure is a bit misleading given the offense’s new emphasis on getting rid of the ball quickly (West Coast Offense) and quarterback Eli Manning’s long-established tendency to get rid of the ball quickly and not take the sack (which he probably actually should do more often when under duress).
The improvement that did take place not only had to do with the individual components playing better, but the Giants had greater cohesion up front due to far fewer injuries. In 2013, the Giants used seven different starting offensive line combinations, the second-highest total in the NFL that season. In 2014, the same players started all 16 games at left tackle (Will Beatty), center (J.D. Walton), and right guard (John Jerry). Weston Richburg started 15 games at left guard and Justin Pugh started 14 games at right tackle.
That all said, it is widely-recognized that the offensive line was once again a sore spot in 2014. Chris Snee retired before training camp. The Giants counted on high-priced free agent acquisition Geoff Schwartz to be a major building block, but Schwartz only played in two games due to injuries. Beatty had a decent year, but Walton and Jerry really struggled at times. Pugh regressed after a strong rookie season and Richburg experienced the expected growing pains, especially since he was playing out of position. Overall, the line was more finesse than power, which usually is not good for any offense, but especially so for one predicated on balance and the ability to run the football.
Another issue was the overall poor depth situation. James Brewer, Brandon Mosley, Eric Herman, Dallas Reynolds, and Adam Snyder were complete non factors and did not push the weaker links on the line. Adam Gettis was signed late in the season from the Steelers practice squad and ex-Eagle Michael Bamiro was signed to the Giants practice squad."

this is Jerry Reese's worse draft pick ever.
