the young players then why is this starting 5 getting so much time. Whether you can win with Mudiay is debatable but Hardaway, Kanter and Hezonja are not and will never be. They don’t play defense or function in a team capacity on offense. 5 min for Knox and Robinson won’t cut it. I know Fiz said the focus isn’t on wins recently but his rotation says otherwise. The only reason I can justify these guys playing is for trade value.
The Knicks play much better when Frank is in the game Â

because you cant just throw them out there and say go play, they are still the 2nd youngest team in the nba..
Knox was getting pushed around and so was robinson..
Playing them a ton of minutes sounds good in theory, but you cant let them just get bodied and say you are ok go play...
a “ton” of minutes and 5 for the half. Barely breaking a sweat is worthless time. They both need 15 t0 20 every night. Some nights they will suck and some they will show promise. These other guys are a complete waste of time.

defensive unit I have ever seen. If they are trying to build a culture of defense first ( which was stated in the off season), this is NOT the way to do it.
I haven’t gotten to watch much and I’ve missed some box scores so you may know better than me. Also, do you think Mudiay is aggressive enough? It seems like he’s trying to run the offense, but he has 2 ball stoppers in Hardaway and Kanter. It ain’t gonna work.

lately it was more consistent until tonight..
i am biased when it comes to mudiay, i wanted him in the draft...
problem is you have 2 ball stoppers in the starting lineup with kanter and hardawsy
In the off season, management said they wanted to get more athletic. They are starting two of the least athletic players I can remember (Kanter and Hezonja). You can’t play a running offense or play defense with those two so what the hell is the organization doing. Makes zero sense.

If only we had a shutdown guy who can guard three positions
I see intensity, effort on defense and cohesion on offense. I like Ntilikina at point. He needs a lot of work on his shot, but he knows what he’s doing.
would play better defense next to Frank too. Dotson needs minutes too. He’s got a good shot and tries hard on defense. Anyone who doesn’t want to or can’t play defense shouldn’t be getting minutes ( Inhave 3 guys in mind- here’s a hint, I mentioned them above).

in a perfect tank world your rotation would be:
in no particular order: Mudiay, Frank, dot, knox, vonleh, robinson, trier, add in 2 or 3 scrubs..
Plus Mudiay and Vonleh. Those 7 should be the focus. Fizdale has to manage their minutes because of their age but theirs talent there that can be part of a winning team. Perry needs to get everyone else out of there. You add KP and a top lottery pick and watch the team grow up together.
Could be a big one. Knicks have a couple of winnable games in the next week, but the schedule gets brutal for a month or so after that. Looks like another January nosedive.
Ready to give up on the 20 year old frank, you are crazy. He turned that game around looking to pass the ball and play defense. The shot will come. Hit a nice floater and a tough 3. Kanter w d Timmy have to go they are unbearable to watch. I know they can score points but every other part of their game is terrible.
How does Hezonja go from a bench player to a DNP-CD to then became Â
and those floaters off the high screens - if he's more efficient with those he'll be a solid rotation player for a long time. Easier said than done though.
Those 7 plus KP and a draft pick makes 9 for next year. That’s a rotation. For now they won’t win for shit but by the end of next year it will be a different story. Guys like Thomas, Lee, Kanter, Hardaway and Hezonja have NO future here. They take up space in the cap AND the floor.
Fizdale said he wanted to take about 25 games to see what he had. We can all see it, he better. The defensive energy of Robinson, Dotson and Ntilikina are infectious. Two of them need to be on the floor all the time. Knox needs more time as the season goes along.,He also tries hard on defense. The offense “looks” better with these guys out there.
What is obvious with Frank is he has good form on his jump shot. He know how to play defense AND how to run the offense. His history also shows he’s not aggressive enough. To become a really good player he needs to 1. Take a million jump shots 2. He’s pretty big for a guard and had long arms. He needs to develop a post up game. 3. TAKE charge when he’s out there. Be the facilitator for himself and his teammates. The talent is there, whether or not he realizes his potential is the BIG question. He has a reputation as a hard worker but I’m not sure he has that “it” personality. He is only 20 though. He needs to start the rest of the year. Fizdale needs to be in his ear about being aggressive ALL the time.
I keep having to remind myself that the Knicks are supposed to be bad.
On the other hand, I very much enjoyed the closing lineup. Good to see Frank back on the court. When he is out there and sparks a run with his defense and chemistry it makes for some entertaining Knicks basketball.
Even with the fun, and I know it doesn't need to be said but, it's obvious that all the young guys need a lot of work. Free throws being one thing to work on, especially with Robinson. If he doesn't improve his free throws down the road he may not be able to be out there at the end of games.
What concerns me most, though, is that Knox seems to need the most work out of all of the young guys. There was a caller on espn radio the night after the draft that compared Knox a tall THjr. Just the thought depressed me. The worst part is that so far the caller looks to be right. Thankfully it's still the beginning of his career, so I have hope that with his future development Knox turns out much better than THjr.

The guy that just turned 19 in August needs the most work, and that concerns you? It is pretty much what would be expected, and I don't see a single similarity between Knox and Hardaway other than that they play basketball for the Knicks.

You need to keep in mind that he's 19 years old. Anyone saying they know what he is going to be should be dismissed.

Knox's play in summer league and his draft status gave me hope that he'd be more developed coming in than the Knicks 2nd round pick and their undrafted free agent. Yes. In no way am I down on the kid, as it's just too early too be, but that doesn't mean I can't be disappointed a bit in how big the gap is between his current state and him being a productive nba player.
As for the comparison, I can see it. Both are streaky offensive players with questionable shot selection and limited defense. There is clearly potential, though, for Knox to grow above and beyond where as THjr is probably pretty much what he is going to be.
People used to say the same thing about Shumpert, who still can't shoot worth a damn after seven years. If Frenchy had been bad but at least showing some improvement this year, that would be one thing, but instead he's actually been much worse. He is an unspeakably bad offensive player.
B, I'm with you there, although the awful officiating is also a hallmark of the ACC.

Hopefully this is the case. I know the plan supposedly is to make a run at free agency this summer, but I really hope that if they strike out on Durant or Leonard that they don't make the same mistake that Donnie made and overpay for a second tier FA.
I have been patient as hell with this team and tried talking myself into a lot of dubious moves, but I swear if they give max money to Kemba Walker or someone like that then I am finally done.
I would much rather see them stick with the rebuild, bring back Mudiay and Vonleh on reasonable deals and then wait and see how the team progresses until some of the larger contracts like Hardaway expire to make another run at free agency.
how KP comes back to know what kind of player they should go after in FA? What if Porzingas never fully recovers? That changes the team dynamics going forward. I’m not sure this summer is the best time to add a max (unless it’s Durant). Getting rid of Hardaway, Kanter and Lee should be the focus (Kanter is a FA isn’t he?)

Absolutely, you can bring those two guys back for probably 1/3 of what it’s going to cost to sign Kemba. You max out KP and Kemba and that’s your team for the next 4 years, and maybe you get out of the first round of the playoffs but you’re not winning a title with that team. Sign the young guys, watch them develop, and take another shot at a free agent when Hardaway/Lee come off the books.
Are you referring to that gonorrhea culture that's been growing on your junk for the past several years?
That escalated quickly.
Been saying ... Starks 2.0.

it is not little talent, it is young talent, knicks have 2 19 year olds, a 20 year old, a 21 year old and 23 year old on the court
i will take a plate of crow on my timmy love earlier in the season
not watching tonight - which 5 are you referring to?
it is frustrating
Three rookies + Dotson and Frank.

if you draft a stud this year with kp, you have knox as your 3rd guy and then with a good young core you go out and get that max

Yeah, Wally is a dope.
Kanter is a clownshow on the defensive end, yet no mention from Eyebrows.
and wizards lost by 16 to cleveland
And that's just my preference. I'd rather see a struggle and crazy fanfare than end to end awful officiated quasi-reality sport.

This x1000
Mudiay, Frank, Knox, KP, Robinson..
Bench: Trier, dot, vonleh, first round pick..
all young guys growing together
You would think Lee would be the easiest to move but nobody wants to pay him 12 mill next year. He’s just not worth it.
