Nobody was bashing Marrone last year. Most gave all the credit to Coughlin. Now that the team sucks again it's all Marrone's fault? Was it Marrone's idea to give Bortles a big 3 year extension with no viable backup?

but IMHO it would be ludicrous for him to return to the sidelines. Dump Bortles and get a new QB Tom. Marrone has proved to be more than capable in this league with the Bills and the Jags. There is too much damn talent on that defense. They will be a force again with better QB play and a healthy Fornette.
For the same reason Philly fired Andy Reid, the players had stopped responding to the head coach
The loss of Dawkins and the addition of TO turned that team culture to s***. Walrus is a fine coach. Kind of the anti-Coughlin, good x's and o's, but not a great motivator to win a championship.
in offseason, according to NFL radio report. Is Tom, age and all things considered, the right guy to develop a QB? Hell, is Marrone? Only way this could make sense is if Jags somehow trade for or acquire an established QB and Tom can find a way motivate the defense. Bortles was decent in playoffs last year and the plan to rely on running game and great defense seemed to be working. It's a hot mess right now.

Really? Care to try proving that? All I know is that 2015 had Eli, Beckham and NOTHING else on offense or defense. Yet they battled every week and lost games in the final seconds to vastly superior competition. That team tuned out its head coach????
No other HC is getting more out of Larry donnell, Ruben Randle and a defense that was even worse.

Just saying...with a strong oline and running game, Eli would certainly be an option for them. In fact, I would enjoy seeing his final couple years on a stacked team like that. I dont think he will play for anyone else though.
Blake Fucking Bortles not being a legit QB was something you could see from a space ship. But not St. Tommy - he saddled Marrone with that piece of shit and when Bortles played like Bortles and the team showed its flaws, it’s all Marrone’s fault?
GTFOH. Coughlin making the Jags the Giants South.
He’s toxic at this point. Shame to see a once very good coach go out like this. He won’t stop till the Jags are dirt and he’s the only one left to blame... then it’ll be the players fault for not “executing” (remember that phrase we heard after almost every loss?).
It will be complete when he hires Gilbride, Spagnuolo, and Quinn to be his coordinators and trades for Eli on day two of the draft (after the Giants draft Drew Lock on day one).
Tom is always 100% responsible for any success regardless of his position within the club.
However, when the team fails he is never deserving of any blame.
The Coughlin brigade had Jacksonville in the SuperBowl three months ago. If Coughlin goes back to coaching we will once again hear this narrative all off season.

it’s amazing how quiet they are this season after all the chirping last year

Last year didn’t or shouldn’t vault coughlin to anything and this year doesn’t sink him either. It’s amazing how fucking weird some people are when it comes to evaluating a HC. You’re gonna condemn the guy’s overall legacy because of one year where he’s in the front office the team he operates over got rocked with injury and had a bad year? Who thinks that way?
Do not see him going back yo the side lines ever again. Strictly front office administration from here on out. He might be good at it or he might not be. We will see. MO
But it's fun to see the usual suspects furiously unfastening their belts to take a dump on Coughlin. You call them on it and they claim it's only done as a reaction to the St. Tommy Brigade, no disrespect. Right...
Think there was pressure to make changes after that terrible year. Coughlin or Reese/Ross had to go and they chose Coughlin. Our talent level on the OL and generally had been going down hill for 5/6 years. Injuries played a big part as well. Management made the decision that TC would take the fall. Reese and Ross got thiers shortly thereafter. Bad period in Giant history but it happens all the time. Lets move on.
What does that mean?

This^^^
Because that's too simple, and doesn't align with the plotline that *everything* 2012-on was done to Coughlin, not in part because of him.

because all three coaches are/were stuck with an expensive piece of toast for quarterback and someone needed to be sacrificed for the poor results

Flowers, Apple, Amakukmura, Wilson, Randles, Pugh, Sintim, Shwartz, JPP TE, Engrams...?
I really can't believe the stupidity of many bbiers, HoF coaches don't grow on trees.

LOL. The Joe Gibbs story. How did that work out?

Ageism. if coughlin was 15 years younger he’d be a HC right now.
