On C-Span yesterday the Author(Dennis Frye) gave a presentation.

He quoted a professor he had when he was in college years ago - "History is an agreed upon fable"

He went on to say everyone is biased in their reporting, human condition.

Anyone read his book?

Bias is a problem but reasonable conclusions tell the real story. Facts dominate a reasonable conclusion.

of the early Union Army. They were always a tad late in being decisive. McClelland could have committed reserves and destroyed the Confederates. But was talked out of it by a subordinate but older general. The Troopers wanted to attack, but the command staff let them down.

Hindsight is always 20/20 and you never know, the Rebs seemed to be able to reverse the tide early in the war, but they were severely depleted at the end of the day.

My sons (Boy Scouts) and my daughter and wife (Girl Scout and GS Leader) take part in the Antietam Illumination event each year. We were there today at 7am for the cleanup today. It's a really rewarding experience to prepare the lanterns each year for this great event.
