Especially on defense no OBJ might be a
good thing watching Shurmur and Eli forcing the ball to
him was awful .Hope they can run the ball and don't
get run over .
Really want to see a well coached team play a well called game with a solid game plan and smart in game adjustments. A good coaching staff should be able to do all these things regardless of whos on the field.
then Beckham being out should NOT spell doom for this offense. They still have plenty of talent at the skill positions AND this is a golden opportunity for EE. Washingtons defense is not better than the Bears and they moved the ball last week.
Shurmur's play-calling: lateral and negative, capped off with a penalty on third-and-forever. I would love to have a real offensive coach making real calls.
Chad Wheeler game-to-game is the worst lineman I see in the NFL. If the Giants improve RT to league average, it will be the biggest upgrade for the team.
Did I just see a professional football player, who is being paid

That 2nd down play could have been positive yards if Penny picked up Kerrigan, that was on him..not every playcall is poor just because the players didn't execute it.
or am I getting old ... On the at opening kick-off by the Giants it looked like the kick went into the endzone and bounced straight up and did NOT go out of bounds? That is what it looked like to me .... and then not 1 player from the Redskins touched it - they just ran off the field. Isn't that a live ball?
Are my eyes getting worse - maybe somebody did catch it ... I could have sworn they let it bounce and ran off the field and then the Ref blew the whistle anyway which makes the play dead.

Change this year, ball is dead once it touches in the end zone on kickoffs. College already did this.
I am not kidding about my eyes btw.
What is the chance that the Giants will throw the ball

I think they are trying to prevent open field injuries on kickoffs

New rule changed a few years ago. Player Safety.
Years ago when I first moved to Wisconsin. The Giants recovered two fumbles in the end zone against the Packers. Giants won 42-40 against the QB led Scott Hunter. I think it was 1971 or 1972. It might have been the game Bob Hyland of the Giants broke Packers head coach Dan Devines leg on a play that went out of bounds.

In listening to this game on Sirius and am being assaulted by the Redskins broadcast crew. How many different people does it have? It sounds like they distribute mics to everyone in the stadium and turn them on at random.
Yeah, he has weaknesses, but he has instilled the team with a way better attitude and getting sharper play out of what he has (and that's not something he's responsible for -- that is, what he has) to put on the field. He gets or should get some points here for not putting up with BS/no effort players and getting out of them the most they have to offer.

Cant kill Eli on that sack. He shouldnt have run back so many yards but he had an edge rush and a push coming from the right side to inside disrupting his ability to step up there.
RE: RE: Eli can't take these fucking 15 yard sacks
He offensive line is getting whipped. Eli should have chucked the ball out of the end zone. He was under pressure in 1 second. Hernandez is the only guy blocking his man. Solder cant deal with Kerrigan and the other 3 are getting beat every pass play.
Barkley is making this look like college football. You don't often see skill players outclass defenders in the NFL like this. He looks a D1 athlete against a D3 team.
He looked like he wanted to go down ... and then he ran some more .... and then he looked like he wanted to go down again. I thought he was going to fumble running like that.
This is where we need a TE to get open in the end zone!
Giants will win in there first blow-out W

of the season. Washington may get close in the third and pull it within a score or two, but then the Giants put the pedal to the metal and finish them off in the 4th. Will be the most relaxed win of the season.
Our front office will vote when arguing we are close to being an upper tier team, while forgetting how depleted the Redskins are.
How does it change any equation? Not sure of your point.
This shouldn't be a litmus test for the Giants defense, but the Skins defense is not bad. Putting a clinic on that unit playing for a playoff spot is a good sign.

You can't hear the arguments now?
"We definitely weren't happy with the first half of our season but we really turned it around. I feel like our coaches and players took some time getting our scheme down but you saw what happened once we did in games against teams like Washington."
For all those grumbling and whining about how this lessens our draft position, or how our team will now be overrated in our front office's eyes...
We. Are. Destroying. The. Skins.
Honestly, if you can't enjoy this for even a moment, I think you might need a break from following the Giants.
This. If the Giants leading 31-0 in the first half can't make you smile, you have some issues. Draft picks will work themselves out, but we needed this.

I guess it could happen. Bottom-line we need some solid drafting. But that needs to happen whether we win out or lose out.
This game ain't over and will likely go down to the fucking wire.
You know what - good point. I have seen many games (not just Giant games) where 1 team went up really big in the first half and I thought the game was over. Then there was a total change in the 2nd half. The winning team pulled back and the losing team fought harder not to be embarrassed .... happens in Basketball also. How many times to you see the starters sit and then have to come back off the bench?

Yeah, but this redskin team is brutal, banged up, etc..this is a blowout period
I would have brought SB back in
fucking dumb no knock on Gallman
But Barkley from the three
is much more of a threat I don't understand
not Utilizing SB there Hell he could dive from there.

Blow outs are far and few between. Hopefully the Giants will not go into a shell and understand that they have another half of football to play. Hopefully theyve learne$ from previous games, such as the Eagles. Cant get away from Barkley in the 2nd half.
Suspect hands. He drops a lot of passes, but he can fly.
Agreed, but speed kills...I hope he works on his route running and hands in the offseason...with OBJ, Shep, Coleman, hopefully Lattimer, Fowler and R. Shep...we're looking pretty good at WR.

The Giants are close. The story of the season to date has been poor OL play and no pass rush. After a few savvy pickups, theyre on their way to winning 4 out of 5. If they win out, I dont see how anyone could argue the roster isnt headed in the right direction.
The Giants have lost more close games than anyone in the league. Theyre a miracle FG and a blown Philly game from being in the hunt for the division and/or a WC spot.
Should be a Pro Bowler this year along with OBJ and Barkley
Last year I wasn't sure about him .... this year he has been rock solid. If he continues like this we may not have to worry about the kicker position for another 10 -12 years.
I don't think Coleman will ever have good hands. If he stays with

I don't think we're that close to being a true contender. There's a whole other side of the ball (defense) that needs a LOT of help
We need at least 1 edge rusher, maybe 2
We need at least 2 LBs
We need a FS and at least 2 corners
Been a long time since we won a division game via a blowout. Dont forget Skins are decimated by injuries and down to third string QB.
Next week will be a real test.
Let Lauletta and Gallman play second half.
Enjoy brothers!!!!

Id say maybe in 4th Quarter if were still ahead by 30 plus points. Dont want to let Washington crawl back into it. This Defense has been suspect at times, especially when theyve had to get teams off the field in the 4th Quarter.

Poor post on my part - I like him. His speed opposite Odell is a killer. His hands are not great, but sometimes he makes good catches, so maybe it is concentration.

They dont need that to field a good team defense. The D can be good enough with 2 quality pass rushers. Add a legit FS even better.
Brees is having an awful game - just a halftime aside
He drops a routine ball on occasion but he can catch in traffic. He can high point the ball and snatch it. He did it in college. He can catch. If he works hard he can be a keeper for NYG.

Aside from Jenkins, what other legit starting corner do we have on the roster? Aside from Ogletree, what other legit starting LB do we have on the roster? In the modern NFL you need 3 corners so that means we need 2 of them. To run a 3-4 defense you need a rotation of edge rushers and we have one proven rush OLB (Vernon) with constant injury issues and a young guy learning the ropes (Lorenzo Carter). We need reinforcements there. We obviously need a FS. That defense needs a lot of work

Maybe Snacks, Apple, and Flowers were the locker room cancers?
Really think it took time to gel as a team and OL issues.
This is probably a 10 win team.
100%. The Giants improved play is in direct correlation to finally getting the OL to be even an average group playing together.
See, this is what I hope the owners don't do.
"This" is not a 10 win team without some major self scouting and improvement, unless we continue to play against backup QBs like we have so often in the last few weeks.

Yes, and I just pointed out that we have more holes on defense than offense that probably can't be fixed in one offseason unless we draft defense heavily and we get 3-4 immediate difference makers

2 games Philly and car we lost were very very much against the odds. Atlanta game also was one that was an either or game.
So lets say thats 2 wins.
6-6 right here now 7-6.
I dont think its nuts that they could win the next 3.

That's honestly quite impressive. He's a journeyman. They are easily replaced. And yet he's stayed in the league since 2008.
Hes throwing some passes to tightly covered receivers and not getting the ball there, where it needs to be. It normally doesnt go well for any rookie, let alone one that came from Richmond and has questionable arm strength.

That comes with game action. What he doesnt have is the superior arm strength that makes up for a late decision. This game will give the organization an idea where he is via development. I want to see his poise and how he carries himself back there
What are you resting Barkley for I guess records are
meaningless in a lopsided game ..
Oh well
Not doing Lauletta any favors
Are you fucking serious? This offense is a complete zero without Barkley and the future of this franchise rests on his ability to stay healthy. Fucking records? Really?
If Shurmur still had him in the game and he got hurt then this place would want him fired for leaving him in.

No he should be using Barkley to run the clock down
Instead of watching this defense fagging out its about
finishing and winning ...
So the defense knows hes throwing on 3rd down. Run run and throw predicatacle. Setting him up to fail. It isnt intentional but thats what has happened.
SHurmur did not learn anything from the disaster he coached in Philly. 350 yards in the first half, 50 in the second. It's embarrassing having this bozo as an HC. Retires his players as if the Giants are already in the SB!

We had a 16 point lead at the half in Philadelphia.

Really worried about losing this game right before the int? Really?
Sometimes I jump onto game threads just because comments like that never cease to amaze me. The idea that the Giants were ever in danger of losing this game is very funny.
was a rumor that the Giants were interested in trading for Kyle Sloter in the offseason. I wonder it that's something they would explore again this coming offseason if they don't use a first or second round pick on a QB.

WTF, if he leaves Eli and Saquon in people would be screaming.
Defense is the problem. Lost their drive.

Lauletta hasn't played with Barkley or Beckham at all today.. let's not be silly here. He's a developmental QB - he wasn't going to just jump into action and look like he had everything under control.
The odds of him being the future here are still very slim - but if you're going to draw conclusions based on one day, just forget it.

A woman is buying groceries and while in the check out line, she becomes quite aroused by the good-looking bag boy. She tries to make eye contact, but he doesn't notice. She drops her purse on the floor and bends over to give him a look at her breasts, but he only keeps bagging her groceries. So she decides to ask him to bring them to her car for her.
When they get out in the parking lot, he asks where her car is. She looks at him, touches his chest and says, "You know, I have an itchy pussy... " And the bag boy sighs and says, "Sorry lady, all those Japanese cars look the same to me."
0-5 and barely missed being intercepted on that last disastrous effort. Doesn't look like an acceptable future, does it?
Give the guy some misdirection or naked boots or RPO. Shurmur letting him sit there for the slaughter. Theyre making him think fast and hes making terrible throws and decisions. Exactly playing into the Skins hands. Shumur needs to call plays to help the young guy out.

Your right B but Injuries happen period Barkley should get20 carries a game period . He is not a China Doll
I can just imagine what they will be saying in Washington
was get his feet wet and give Shurmur an idea where he is so far. He has a long way to go. The game is too fast for him at this point (as you would expect )

some more it would I think Helped Lauletta having Barkley
as a threat since there is no OBJ so really
hard to grade Kyle on what we saw .

Poor tackler
Christ.
Smart.
First two play calls were absolute ass. You know Skins would be licked on to Barkley.
I mean, how do you get paid to return punts and know less than kids playing Pop Warner?
That 2nd down play could have been positive yards if Penny picked up Kerrigan, that was on him..not every playcall is poor just because the players didn't execute it.
easy 1st down ....
Yeah, hes had some nice plays on the field.
Coverage was tight. Im not blaming Engram for that.
Looking like a 6-3 type game, ugh!
I hope so too because he completely lacked motivation up until that play
Are my eyes getting worse - maybe somebody did catch it ... I could have sworn they let it bounce and ran off the field and then the Ref blew the whistle anyway which makes the play dead.
I am not kidding about my eyes btw.
Yup.

If you need to split barkely out ...run gallman.

or am I getting old ... On the at opening kick-off by the Giants it looked like the kick went into the endzone and bounced straight up and did NOT go out of bounds? That is what it looked like to me .... and then not 1 player from the Redskins touched it - they just ran off the field. Isn't that a live ball?

I think they are trying to prevent open field injuries on kickoffs

New rule changed a few years ago. Player Safety.
Years ago when I first moved to Wisconsin. The Giants recovered two fumbles in the end zone against the Packers. Giants won 42-40 against the QB led Scott Hunter. I think it was 1971 or 1972. It might have been the game Bob Hyland of the Giants broke Packers head coach Dan Devines leg on a play that went out of bounds.
Hurt ever year

Okay then - Thanks Hammer!
Agreed.

The OL was partially at fault. But he had time. He can't move at all.
Nobody, he was playing back in coverage....looked like zone

Yes.
Oh this Giants offense is very capable of giving up their own TD.

Sanchez got the JETS to back to back Championship games! Was not a mistake IMO. Hes had a pretty weird career after that.
Agreed
A mobile QB doesnt matter
He was running for his life. Would you rather he throw an INT?
You cant throw it away in the pocket birdbrain.
Don't be a fucking idiot, he had zero time to do anything on that play
Youre a fucking troll at this point.
And 15 year vet Eli cannot lose 12 additional yards there.
The right side is getting blown up all day today so far.

No youre an idiot because youre shitting on him for a play he could do nothing about. 3 OL whiffed on their guys. You cant step up or roll out.
Place the blame where it belongs. Jesus Christ.
Said it with the same enthusiasm my old man did when I played baseball as a teen.
Should have tried a 3rd down run
Are we allowed 3rd round picks that perform?
Not too good.....maybe we will need a RG afterall?!
Said it with the same enthusiasm my old man did when I played baseball as a teen.
I chuckled at that as well.
Did you Atleast have fun?!
The longest run against the Redskins was 21 yds before that.
😆
Yes, if eli handed it off better, barkley wouldve got to the end zone faster
Kid is amazing and nice block by Shepard on the edge.
Build up a strong defense and a Oline and I think wed be fine, even with mediocrity at QB.

They're 4-8 and 0-4 in the division. You can appreciate Barkley without bringing back this argument.
If we score a TD, we might see Lauletta in the second half.
Giants should give him the game ball after game
If we score a TD, we might see Lauletta in the second half.
He might get his chance to play on O.......
Completely disagree with this. Id rather go 8-8 than root for a fucking draft pick. This team has been playing for draft picks for half a decade.

If so, lets see the kid.

of the season. Washington may get close in the third and pull it within a score or two, but then the Giants put the pedal to the metal and finish them off in the 4th. Will be the most relaxed win of the season.
I may have been wrong about the 3rd quarter.

+1. Look at the drafts. Getting a pick at #3 vs #15 (for example), doesn't mean much. Its all a crapshoot
We've seen this team in the 1st half a couple weeks ago.
We all know how it ended...
Granted Sanchez is not Wentz, so maybe this time we can sit back and watch a good old ass whipping
Brees sucks today again too
Has there been a qb to finish a game with that rating?
And they are so much fun!!
yep
Hahahaha!
I did too
Table for three please.
That's complete BS. They've been chasing wins. It's their own failure that resulted in high draft picks.
Fans love Barkley, but hate doing what you have to do to get players like him.
Agreed. That INT was rookie shit.

Let's see Gallman and Lauletta.
Happening.
you mean to tell me you don't have one yet? I bought one right after the draft...no doubt in my mind.
I think Rouson wore #22
Norman is a notorious shit talker. Ill bet that felt real good for Mr. Shep. Real good!
How does it change any equation? Not sure of your point.
Yes..have to be careful on game like this
But credit they are executing the plays here
We. Are. Destroying. The. Skins.
Honestly, if you can't enjoy this for even a moment, I think you might need a break from following the Giants.
That 2nd Eagle and/or Panther game would be nice in our back pocket right now but whatever. Just keep playing like this.

This shouldn't be a litmus test for the Giants defense, but the Skins defense is not bad. Putting a clinic on that unit playing for a playoff spot is a good sign.
At this rate, mid-late third quarter.
Really think it took time to gel as a team and OL issues.
This is probably a 10 win team.

I guess it could happen. Bottom-line we need some solid drafting. But that needs to happen whether we win out or lose out.
We will see ...
But it does feel good.
BTW, Sterling Shepard is having a hell of a game.

100%. The Giants improved play is in direct correlation to finally getting the OL to be even an average group playing together.
Last year I wasn't sure about him .... this year he has been rock solid. If he continues like this we may not have to worry about the kicker position for another 10 -12 years.

I don't think we're that close to being a true contender. There's a whole other side of the ball (defense) that needs a LOT of help
We need at least 1 edge rusher, maybe 2
We need at least 2 LBs
We need a FS and at least 2 corners
Next week will be a real test.
Let Lauletta and Gallman play second half.
Enjoy brothers!!!!
He needs to lose the drops and missing games because of injury. Its very Shockey-esque so far

Id say maybe in 4th Quarter if were still ahead by 30 plus points. Dont want to let Washington crawl back into it. This Defense has been suspect at times, especially when theyve had to get teams off the field in the 4th Quarter.
I think Strahan was legit annoyed at Bradshaw interrupting him over how he said 'wheel route'
Pretty sure you didn't hear that correctly. He said good job Eli without Odell, spreading the ball around
Eli does force things to Odell and so there might be something to it.

Poor post on my part - I like him. His speed opposite Odell is a killer. His hands are not great, but sometimes he makes good catches, so maybe it is concentration.

They dont need that to field a good team defense. The D can be good enough with 2 quality pass rushers. Add a legit FS even better.

That defense needs a lot of work
Guess the Cowboys showed the formula for beating the Saints.

2 games Philly and car we lost were very very much against the odds. Atlanta game also was one that was an either or game.

No conclusions about Lauletta based on today. It's his first time playing in a real game.
Even considering the Giants are just trying to run the clock out and go home, Johnson is still an obvious upgrade over Sanchez.
Eff them, play action and throw one deep.

JJ thinks he won the SB
Good for Johnson.
Yeah he is a marvelous player 10 fumbles 10 picks
5 td's in 8 years whatever cord
"The Mule" coming to Theaters.

More impressive than Tanney?
Needs some work.
lol, that was ugly
I think at 62, I'm faster than that.
Could be.
Looked horrendous on that
Well the whole world knows we are running the ball here
I think they are loading the box and forcing Lauletta to make a play
meaningless in a lopsided game ..
Oh well
Not doing Lauletta any favors
He does but. Clearly needs more time to evaluate
Agreed, but I don't want to draw any conclusions based on this game.

a problem......Gallman not getting many yards here.

Absolutely and he had room to run there
How about a pass on 1st down, they are crashing the LoS.

Grow up boy
Jesus Christ
And maybe well beyond
meaningless in a lopsided game ..

Are you fucking serious? This offense is a complete zero without Barkley and the future of this franchise rests on his ability to stay healthy. Fucking records? Really?
If Shurmur still had him in the game and he got hurt then this place would want him fired for leaving him in.
Shurmur has few wins. He needs to make sure they happen.
Mariotta will eat them alive next week, if we dont play that better.
And get beat over the top?
We can tell that from a few snaps in a rout?
Sorry ... it has been a while. Jay Schroeder II?
Sadly, treating the 4th Q like a preseason game led to a predictable drop in intensity on the field
Finish the fucking game assholes!

No he should be using Barkley to run the clock down
Instead of watching this defense fagging out its about
finishing and winning ...
So the defense knows hes throwing on 3rd down. Run run and throw predicatacle. Setting him up to fail. It isnt intentional but thats what has happened.

are you 12 yrs old? we have a 4 TD lead
115 yards in penalties for the skins
for christs sakes .
I do too. I'd love to bring him back.
Very solid veteran and contributor on D
Not sure if serious.
We had a 16 point lead at the half in Philadelphia.
We wound up with a 40 point lead here today.
Not even comparable.
Saved the day? A bit dramatic don't you think?

His absolute ceiling is Danny Kannell.
We can tell that from a few snaps in a rout?
Yea pretty much. If not for that Thomas pick the end of this gets interesting.

Stop. You don't use your best player - a running back - up by 40 points. Idiocy.
What?
Weird take
Sometimes I jump onto game threads just because comments like that never cease to amaze me. The idea that the Giants were ever in danger of losing this game is very funny.
Don't even bother. The level of football intelligence by some on this site is abysmal.
I doubt it, but I definitely imagined the mayhem if we did. My imagination isn't quite sufficient for that scenario though.
You mean career

SHurmur did not learn anything from the disaster he coached in Philly. 350 yards in the first half, 50 in the second. It's embarrassing having this bozo as an HC. Retires his players as if the Giants are already in the SB!
What?
Weird take
WTF, if he leaves Eli and Saquon in people would be screaming.
Defense is the problem. Lost their drive.

Certain entertainment my man
Fucking Elis fault for taking reps away from the kid in practice. Its all Elis fault!
The odds of him being the future here are still very slim - but if you're going to draw conclusions based on one day, just forget it.

The D is the reason this was a blowout.
When they get out in the parking lot, he asks where her car is. She looks at him, touches his chest and says, "You know, I have an itchy pussy... " And the bag boy sighs and says, "Sorry lady, all those Japanese cars look the same to me."
Give the guy some misdirection or naked boots or RPO. Shurmur letting him sit there for the slaughter. Theyre making him think fast and hes making terrible throws and decisions. Exactly playing into the Skins hands. Shumur needs to call plays to help the young guy out.
The odds of him being the future here are still very slim - but if you're going to draw conclusions based on one day, just forget it.

Your right B but Injuries happen period Barkley should get20 carries a game period . He is not a China Doll
WTF are you talking about?
Some of you guys are certifiable.
He did: They're called "Running Plays".
That was Fucking brutal.
The odds of him being the future here are still very slim - but if you're going to draw conclusions based on one day, just forget it.
Thats part of the reason they could have played Barkley
some more it would I think Helped Lauletta having Barkley
as a threat since there is no OBJ so really
hard to grade Kyle on what we saw .

Backup S lost containment and gave up a big play.
