Good grief, one play he looks like Sanders, the next he looks like OJ, the next he looks like Jake LaMotta.
I get the same feeling watching him make plays that I got watching a young Lawrence Taylor. It's this feeling that dreams really do come true -- and he's a Giant! Just absolutely spectacular.
HE IS THE BEST PLAYER IN THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE going forward....kid can PLAY. not only did we get the best player in the draft but we got the future of the NFL. the guy if he stays healthy can be a HoF. his burst, ability to get to next level, his jump cut, his power. HIS ABILITY TO CATCH!!!! he catches better than half the WRs on the team. this kid is ABSOLUTELY special. so excited for SaGONE Barkley!!!
Barkley is as special as special gets.
But I'm not sure Barkley could possibly have been any better of a pick than this. The guy is flat out amazing.

It's gotten to the point where he makes a mistake like that drop early on and you're absolutely shocked.

Highlights - ( New Window )
Barkley is, thankfully, so good that he's actually given virtually no one with a set of working eyes any reason to critique it - but it was a fairly lofty expectation to set for a rookie RB. It would have been better to just let him create his own hype.
Moot point now. He's obviously an elite player and, for my money, the best RB in the game.
Or right guard or right tackle. Brown has definitely come back down to earth the last few weeks and Wheeler might be the worst lineman playing in the NFL.
Barkley is a beast, and he's contributing heavily to winning.
But I'm not sure Barkley could possibly have been any better of a pick than this. The guy is flat out amazing.
Insanely over-hyped rookies rarely live up to the hype, at least right out of the gate.
Saquon is not only living up to it, he’s actually getting better down the stretch.
I haven’t seen a RB like him since Bo Jackson.
What an athlete.
1) It was clear at PSU how good and indeed special he is/would be.
2) Actually PSU underutilized him, but he did have a weaknesses in his game that appears to be disappearing. He tended to juke a bit too much, when in seemed clear that if he was just a hair more decisive and WENT after his 1st move he'd outrun just about anybody.
3) Credit to Barkley for looking to improve himself, and to Craig Johnson his position coach and probably to forgotten man/mentor Jonathon Stewart, because Barkley now gets North/South with alacrity like few I've ever seen. Dare I say it? He's showing vision like Gayle Sayers had... Never thought I'd say that about any other RB.

the Giants had a legit NFL player at C.

That comment Gettleman made may have been a bit over the top - and was mocked relentlessly by many fans (including Giants fans)

Yep. Shurmur is teaching him to get those dirty yards instead of trying to cut outside and hit a home run on every carry. It is making him a much more well-rounded RB. Barkley can get those tough yards as well as anyone.
I think before the break, teams were starting to pick up on his tendency to jump cut and try to get outside so they were leveraging him towards the middle of the field by cheating outside.
But this guy has now gone over 100 scrimmage yards in 12 of his first 13 NFL games. That has never been done before in the history of the league.
It's pretty difficult to continue to argue that Sam Darnold would have been a better pick - but I'm sure people will.
(And many here, castigated the Giants for not picking the mythical "franchise QB" last April instead picked Barkley)
Safe for possibly Mayfileld, I haven't seen anyone else beginning to approach that level.
Maybe, one day, we will regret not picking one of those QBs, in the mean-time, lets enjoy this kid tearing up the league.
"Give me 18 inches of daylight" - ( New Window )
Now I can honestly say he’s the best RB in the game. And a damn good WR.
Dickerson's record for rookie RBs is 2212 yards from scrimmage; if Barkley can average 153 yards rushing plus receiving over the next 3 games, he will break it.
He had 197 yards from scrimmage today - by the middle of the 3rd qtr...
Milton, my old friend, how've you been?
Maybe next we'll be comparing somebody, legitimately, to LT?
When Shumer made the comment it sounded so over the top that people rightly questioned it.
It turns out that Shumer was selling Barkley short. He was understating Barkley"s talent. Words do not adequately describe the things he can do. Only your eyes tell you the truth.
And we get to see him in a Giants uniform for years to come. Just count your blessings.
