Adequate protection, a running game, good play-calling, and a pass rush he can win a championship next year. Add these pieces in the draft in 2019 with OBJ and SB we can get an SB victory January 2020.
Its a lot easier when there is blocking in front of you and the run game going Nothing wrong with Eli. That said I’d like to see the Giants draft another QB that can sit a watch Eli next year. Kid n the roster now I just don’t see stardom there. Hope I’m wrong but...
give me a break. i understand this is nice to be winning, but this is still a 5-8 team that has beaten mostly nfl dregs recently and caught the bears without a starting qb.
let’s not get too hyperbolic here...wentz has just led his team to a furious comeback.

Remember Eli stunk up the place until he replaced Warner in the 4th game of the season.
You almost have to automatically write off a QB’s first Pro game.
Let’s see what the QB whisperer can do with him.
Mullens, Fitzpatrick, Daniel, and Sanchez. If we have Eli under center again next year, we are fukadomed again. This team is not that good, and people are delirious right now. It's a joke. Manning threw for 188 yards in our win over SF, much of which was in the last drive. He threw for what, 150 yards (maybe less) last week against Chicago? You make it seem like he's chucking it all over the field against the Ravens. Stop. Just stop. That's how you end up sucking for years.
If we have Eli under center again next year, we are in big, big trouble.

I don't think Shurmur has that much confidence in Kyle. Watch his post-game presser. He made a casual sneer when the questions were steered towards Kyle. He made the comment along the lines and I'm paraphrasing, "Did you guys all like what you have been asking to see?".
during the last 5 games by any means. he was ok vs the 9ers and poor vs the Bears and was jekyll and hyde against the eagles and he certainly was a culprit earlier in the year for the poor start.
glad to see him doing better than he was (good today though it was not any sort of test) but again let’s not get crazy. His very good game came against a horrendous d against the bucs.
Still makes WTF throws like at the end of the first half.
I think he will be the Giants starting QB in 2019.
He is not better than Wentz at this time in his career.

Hes 10th in the NFL in passing yards, completion %, and Ints, and hes 38 years old. Sure he isnt what he was but who is after 15 years. There are 2/3 of the QBs who are worse options right now, to say he stinks isnt accurate. Nice him time, and ideally a running game, and hes fine.
Having said that we do need to plan for the future. Whether it's a trade for someone like Carr, or a high 2019 or 2020 draft pick, we need a successor (and no I dont believe in KL).
But the giddiness over his recent play, to the point that some are now calling for him to be extended, show how low your standards have sunk
Go watch highlights of Mahomes from today and tell me you still want to go forward the next two years with a 38 and then 39 year old quarterback who often sacks himself.
If Shurmur and Giants were as enamored with his play as some of you, Shurmur probably could have answered the question: Will Eli be your quarterback next season?” differently than he did when asked by Francesa.
Eagerly waiting your recommendation for the path forward . . .
While not ideal, Eli is the best option now for next year.
There is nothing coming out of college, at least with the pedigree and capability to start Day 1.
But unless I m mistaken, there are guys on this thread wanting to extend him.
I don’t have an answer as to what to do for the next guy. I wanted to draft Darnold this year.
Barkley was obviously the best player in the draft. But I have a hypothetical:
Suppose Eli and Barkley were rookies in the same class. Knowing what you know now, whom would you take.
What if Darnold becomes an Eli. That was the chance I was willing to take even though I watched every Barkley game and knew what kind of player he was/is.
I m thrilled Barkley is a Giant. But you asked me my plan for Eli s successor,....that was it.
next year cause there is no other option. There may be no Qb worth pick, and if there is they would stay with Eli cause Barkley and Beckham give them a shot in weak division.

5 years down the line, he still might be the best option as well
What I want to know is... where the f*ck did this OL come from? Â

That's always a weird argument to make. He was playing those defenses not them.
test since the bye week Eli looks very similar to how he has always looked. Criticizing Eli because the team itself is improving and he has an offense to lead into the end zone seems weird to me.
Also, the point is to win, their were plenty of garbage yards in the other games that everyone said were meaningless, he threw enough yesterday for the team to have a blowout win.
I am shocked at home this team has improved and I credit the HC and GM for cutting bait on some errors and rebuilding things mid season. They also play hard under Shurmur.
Sign me up for one more year of Eli Manning with a real team around him. I think good things can happen. The only caveat I can think of is if there is an attainable QB in the draft who this team thinks is a cant miss franchise guy that they would not have to sacrifice the future to get. This team will not be picking top five anymore, the team is better.

You can't reason with those that have drawn their own conclusions. Eli was still playing against a top Chicago defense. Eli was still playing against a very good Redskins defense without his best receiver. Those that are desperate to see any QB not named Manning will never give him credit. If people want to hold up the opponents QB list as reasons, then they should be focusing their ire at our defense for allowing those scrubs to look competent.
Last week, the Giants put up 30 points against a great Bears defense Â
I made the Mahomes reference in regard to those suggesting the Giants extend Eli for another 3 years.
Was suggesting maybe they need to upgrade the Qb position pretty soon. However to your point, it has been suggested MacAdoo wanted to trade up for him.
RE: Last week, the Giants put up 30 points against a great Bears defense Â
that held the Rams to 6 points this week. This was only the 2nd loss for the Rams. Just give the guy decent protection so he can do his job.
He still has trouble seeing the field. Still makes dumb plays. And he is barely a 500 QB. And if anyone but Giant fans were picking QB's in the NFC east he would be the 4th pick
there is nothing reasonable about proclamations that Eli is better than wentz. if you claim he played well against chicago or that yesterday was some sort of big proof he is still a top tier qb the lack of being reasonable is on you. the game was 17-0 before he had to do anything of note.
He is playing better and in fact a thread stating it’s nice to see him playing well would not face any reasonable resistance. But of course it’s framed as if he has ‘shut the haters up’ or ‘he’s the best qbs in the east’....
The Giants will keep him starting going into next year almost certainly. that’s fine and all but they do need to get serious about getting another qb.

4th???
I would pick Wentz but mostly for continuity over the next several years. But I don't think many people would rather have Dak. I don't even think Dak will be starting in Dallas two years from now. And you have to be some kind of cray hater (IMO) to pick Sanchez or Josh Johnson over Eli.
you don't think it might be the ridiculous overreaction that people here are arguing against.
we finally get some decent production from our offense and now we have people calling for Eli to be extended multiple years and crowing that he is currently better than Carson Wentz.
Eli is playing well and I, for one, am loving the fact that I can watch a winning team finally but the overreaction and chest thumping on this site by a handful of people is embarassing.
RE: dep - you can't be serious with that comment Â

Check out the 8:28 post of this thread. The reaction after the game by some, not all posters, are just head scratching.
Of course Eli isnt better than Wentz right now. My comment was geared more towards the reactions in other threads as well.
I am pleased Eli is playing decently well (MUCH more importantly though the Giants are winning). But apparently its not enough for some, he is again the same player he always has been.......also, that a stretch of good play means the Giants should extend him etc.
And dep, who here is taking glee in his poor play? Its reacting to the rank overreaction to him.

Not even Wentz. One guy just put Sanchez ahead of Eli. So, who's the more out of touch?

The overreaction in favor is basically just fulfillment of Newton's Third Law.
Eli has played decently, but let's not assume he is the answer going into next year. I'd like to see how he finishes the season against teams that will likely have their backs up against the wall. Play well and get to 7 or 8 wins and he is probably back with an extension that reduces his cap hit next season. Lose out and the Giants are probably cutting him and finding other options for QB.
People get too worked up over individual games. Yesterday was GREAT. It's been a long time since the Giants won a laugher. But let's finish up the season and then take breath.
are you suggesting that eli supporters have only been reacting to unreasonable criticism of Eli? maybe you are way to entrenched in your own views on this (which i can certify given your proclamations of Eli as elite earlier this season).....
A dinosaur
Can’t do anything without OBJ
Can’t work outside the tackles
Can’t throw deep
Can’t beat cover 2
At least that’s what I’m told on BBI
let’s not get too hyperbolic here...wentz has just led his team to a furious comeback.

many guilty parties on both sides...
