I would love to see them give trhe 6'9'' freshman Josh Roberts a chance to play. There center is out and the will not go far in the big east without more length than they have on the floor now.(hope he does better than Lauletta)
I know that people in the city can't seem to crane their necks to look Upstate, but that says less about their skeletal dexterity and more about their view that the City is the entirety of NY

Didn't realize you were a big Great Danes fan. Too bad Cremo transferred to Nova.

As someone who is a geography nerd, lives on LI and works in NYC, I can tell you that a distressingly large number of people in this area think "upstate" is an amorphous blob where White Plains, Buffalo and Albany are all around the corner from each other.
married a native Manhattener. Upstate doesn't just blend together, it also encompasses Ohio and parts of Canada!!
And literally anything 10 miles outside of NYC is "Upstate"!
And yet the upstaters are the ones who end up funding quite a bit of NYC with their taxes
That's not true at all. Upstate NY is economically distressed; losing jobs and population at an alarming rate. 70% of NY State income tax collected are from New York City, Long Island and Westchester. 56% of the state tax collection comes from NYC but for every dollar NYC sends to Albany it gets back 85 cents. NYC is subsidizing Up State NY especially western NY.

It may be that way currently, but there were decades where NYC was on the rest of the state's tit. If not for the Unions and the highest gas tax in the country NYC would have gone bankrupt in the 70's.
Only 45% of the people living in NYC own a car what do you think that ratio is outside NYC? 70? 75%? And the vast majority of union members were in upstate back then
And they are subsidizing W. NY, Only upstate city that falls into that is Buffalo (which has always been a shithole).
The other aspect to take into account is what has more welfare recipients? Upstate or NYC?
Also you're wrong about the percentage of tax revenue coming from NYC Â
Upstate NY (Cuse) is further away and less connected to NYC than the BOS-WAS I-95 corridor.
From my standpoint as a Geographer, Upstate NY is anything past the Catskills.
I consider the Catskills to be downstate NY, as it serves as a playground for metro NYC.

I've watched a bunch of their games this season and despite the 9-0 record I'm not sold - yet, at least. First, they are lacking size in the frontcourt. Second, they have been very inconsistent despite the perfect record - they have had to scrap to beat a couple of not so great teams.
That said, would love to see them go far, the Hall and 'Cuse too. I root for all the original Big East schools - but St John's in particular.

Geographer? Stfu, dupe. You're insufferable.
