Updated Playoff Scenario after SEA win over MIN

RutgersGiantsFan : 12/10/2018 11:09 pm
With Seattle's win tonight, the Giants can only make the playoffs now as a 6th seed. But the path is easier with Minnesota's loss. Here's how they get in.

1. Win TEN, @ IND, DAL
2. WAS/PHI Week 17 winner loses TWO while the loser of that game loses ONE.
-WAS plays @ JAX, @ TEN
-PHI plays @ LAR, HOU
3. CAR loses TWO from NO, ATL, @ ATL
4. MIN loses TWO from MIA, @ DET, CHI
5. GB loses ONE from @ CHI, @ NYJ, DET
6. TB loses ONE from @ BAL, @ DAL, ATL OR DET loses ONE from @ BUF, MIN, @ GB
Other than us winning out

this list seems entirely realitic which is kinda crazy. I bet most of those (other than us winning out) end up happening.
Can do!

Let’s go Giants!

After being 1-7, the fact that we have a meaningful game on 12/16 is amazing.

Should say @NO not ATL
Not getting too excited yet

Just hope the Giants keep winning.
Si if I am reading this right

we cannot be eliminated next weekend if we win

Correct but if PHI and WAS both win, NYG would need a PHI/WAS tie Week 17
I think

The hardest part is getting MIN to lose 2 games with the 3 they have remaining.

Agree. But look at how bad they played tonight, hopefully wheels fall off. Another problem is the bears may not be playing for anything week 17 with NO and Rams up 2 games on them..

Except that we know when the game gets big, Cousins comes up small.
A 1-7 team with a mathematical probability

to make playoffs with a few weeks to go.

Would be quite the story...
So sad

when you think a 61 yard FG by Carolina and a total crap out second half against the Eagles is actually keeping the Giants from being a team people hope don't make the playoffs.

Barkley alone would have teams scared.

Yup.

I don't like the "wait until next year" stuff. We went through this in 2016. When you're hot, you're hot, and right now, the Giants are hot at the perfect time. It's too bad, but I'm not giving up yet.
And yet some want us to keep losing

and/or aren’t even slightly excited to see what happens.
If the Giants don't lose those two games vs. Carolina and Philly....
Tom [Giants fan] : 12/11/2018 9:50 am : link
they would control their own destiny. Crazy how close they were to that.

Rolling a 1 or a 2 on a die is realistic. Doing it 6 times in a row, not so much.
If they can somehow stay alive for two more weeks...
Big Blue Blogger : 12/11/2018 9:57 am : link
... the Giants catch a break in Week 17, as the Cowboys will likely have little or nothing at stake. Doesn’t Garrett have a history of tanking meaningless games at the end of the year? Meaningful ones too, but that’s a separate story. :o)

Yup and another thing that sucks is those 2 games were badly officiated .We got screwed by the refs in both of them
FWIW
Mike in Long Beach : 12/11/2018 10:18 am : link
Every game next week has the favorite being the team the Giants need to win, including the Giants, except for Minnesota being 8 point favorites over Miami. I don't really get that one. 8 seems way too high given how this past weekend's action shook out.

Either way... it'll take more than a miracle to get it done, but if somehow everything goes perfect next week, we can be 0.5 out with two to play :)
Hardest Part

Giants winning out. The rest all seem possible.
Win out?

The Colts are in the middle of a very strong push to the playoffs. Dallas will be playing hard for playoff positioning against the Bear. I don't see the Giants winning either game against superior teams.

Then there's the Titans game, that one is gonna be a toss up cause the Titans are still fighting for a playoff spot as well.
