Barkley vs Elliott let's run some numbers.....

sxdxca : 12/11/2018 1:23 am
As many of you know, I was definitely in the draft a franchise QB crowd, however I've been "pleased" with Barkley's performance. So I decided to do a comparison with him vs Elliott, who plays behind one of the better O line's when they're healthy.

* Saquon Barkley in 2018 --- 209 att 1,124 yards 5.4 ypc

* Ezekiel Elliott in 2018 --- 268 att 1,262 yards 4.7 ypc

As you can see, Elliot has 59 more rushing attempts than Barkley, but is averaging .7 yards less per carry. If we were to add 59 more rushing attempts to Barkley's ypc, we get an additional 318 yards.

Now lets add this to Barkley's yards, and this brings his total up to 1,442 yards. Which therefore puts him almost 180 yards ahead of Elliott, and would make him the NFL's current rushing leader in 2018. Not bad for a rookie....

Now let's throw some more numbers together. Since the Giants acquired Jamon Brown, what are Barkley's numbers?

Barkley --- 98 att 605 yards 6.17 ypc (all in just 5 games)

If we were to extend that over a 16 game season, if my numbers are correct, that would give him a total of 1,936 yards. Obviously the level of competition the Giants have played against these past 5 games hasn't been stellar, nonetheless it is still interesting.

One final note, a poster was curious what were Ezekiel Elliott's numbers "prior" to the acquisition of Amari Cooper and finally with him? So I ran those numbers, here ya go...

Before Amari Cooper --- Elliott 132 att 619 yards 4.68 ypc

After Amari Cooper --- Elliott 136 att 643 yards 4.72 ypc

Oddly w/without Amari, virtually the same, no difference....
Now add to this

The fact we had crap for an O-line the first 8 games vs what EE had and the difference between the two is glaring
No offense to the OP...

As you’re not the first to do this... but... Why the fuck are we comparing Saquon to Elliott??? Saquon is a generational talent. An all world complete football player... who has yet to scratch his surface... And Elliott is just a good RB who has been graced with a good to great line...

Comparing Barkley to Elliott is like comparing Deion Sanders to Josh Norman.

From Fuck-sticks who kept saying it was a critical mistake, a fireable offense to draft Barkley over a QB. Fuck you, STFU, some of us knew how good he was before the draft, and you can just sit down and shut up now. You were wrong, fuck off and admit you're a dipshit. No comparison threads with other great RBs. You're only permitted a thread to flagellate and debase yourself in front of the community.

Yeah, no shit Saquon is a generational talent. Some of us were trying to say that 9 or 10 months ago. Newsflash, he's better than them all...Gurley, Elliott, Kamara, McCaffrey, ALL OF THEM, no shit, he's better. Glad you're on board now, and now your role is to bow down and flog yourself in front of those that said from the beginning Barkley was THE PICK. BITCHES.
Oddly

Without OBJ Barkley had his best day.
I Love OBJ, cant wait for his return, zI guess nothing affects the running game like o line performance.
I hate saying this
mattyblue : 12/11/2018 5:22 am : link
guy is better than that guy in football. Both have been stellar backs, but I don’t think Zeke really has all the abilities of a guy like Barkley. In fact I don’t think I would take Zeke over a couple of RBs like Gurley, Kamara, Bell (if he had played like he has in the past) Bell has looked sensational in the last few years. Conner having as good a year as he had definitely makes you wonder if the line in Pitt was a major factor for Bell. If you look at the way Barkley plays and carries himself, I don’t see anyway to put Zeke on that level.
Too much math. Let’s just keep with the simple theme
Jimmy Googs : 12/11/2018 5:41 am : link
that it was a critical mistake and a fireable offense to draft Barkley over a QB...
Percentage of run plays this year so far
USAF NYG Fan : 12/11/2018 6:09 am : link
Dallas ran the ball 44.27% of the time. 8th highest in the league.

Giants ran the ball 35.86% of the time. 6th lowest in the league.

The last 3 games:

Dallas, 44.3% (roughly the same)
Giants, 43.09% (An increase of 7.23%)

I'll keep saying it. I don't care if it's a passing league now. The run still sets up the pass. If I have to choose between a good run blocking OL or pass blocking OL, I'll take a good run blocking OL every time. A QBs best friend is still a good to great run game. It doesn't matter if the QB is a SB winning veteran or a newly drafted rookie with potential. Rams, Saints, Patriots, etc. Nearly all of the better teams have a good run to pass ratio.

Continue to fix the trenches on both sides of the ball and the Giants will really have something.

Lighten up Francis. You can always ignore a thread you don’t like right? How about you stop yelling in caps?
ok

lets get this over with Barkley like Gentleman said is a once generational back. He has better skill than all of them. I wouldn't trade for any back in the league. He is the best talent I have seen on offense in a long time. I would say Barry Sanders talent.

That is some useless and wrong-headed reasoning, but it is always entertaining to watch you put so much effort into posts that don't have any relevance or meaning.

I didn't want Barkley in the draft. I wanted Mayfield or to trade down and stockpile picks.

Thrilled to admit I was a moron, that Barkley is possibly the best player in the NFL already, and he's still going to get better. I was wrong, and I am happy as Hell that I was.

You're not a moron whatsoever. Mayfield is having a fine season and looks like a great pick. And Barkley is special too. However, he's not in the conversation for best player in the league. Aaron Donald as an example is having possibly an all-time season and might make a run at Strahan's sack record with another couple of explosive games.

He's definitely in the conversation for the best player in the league, and so is Donald.

The conversation I think includes: Patrick Mahomes, Drew Brees, Todd Gurley, Saquon Barkley, Ezekiel Elliott, Davante Adams, Antonio Brown, Aaron Donald, J.J. Watt, Von Miller, and Khalil Mack. Thought about including Tyreek Hill.

I do think Saquon is the best RB in the game right now. Ahead of Gurley, even. If I had to narrow to 5 players, it would be Mahomes, Saquon, Donald, Watt, and Mack.
Meaningless

Bullshit.
I don't think you'd find a single person who would place Davante

Adams anywhere near this conversation.
