these Baldy reviews just put a smile on my face...and they are his own doing apparently, not affiliated with any show or network, which makes this even better
The offense has changed, as Eli admitted, it now runs
through 26. Off that, the Giants can do anything and they are getting better and better every week. Heck, when you see Seattle dominate and win with only 72 yards passing, it proves the old adage once again...if you can run the ball and play good D, you will win a lot of games, especially at this time of year.
The basics of football never change. Now that we have Barkley and the Oline has shown vast improvement, the future looks so much brighter. With this moving forward, no question Eli can play at least two more years and at a high level. If I'm the Giants' FO, I strengthen the D, I draft more Oline help and depth. RT still seems to be an area where we need more help but no question Wheeler has improved. Now, you have a mentality on offense that we are going to run it up your gut even if you know it's coming and you'd better be ready because, if you aren't, 26 will take it to the house.
Amazing how an effective running game, with a great back, makes your Oline better, makes your whole team better. Baldy says the Giants are the 6th best team in the NFC right now and I completely agree and we keep getting better each week which is what I was hoping to see.
We may not make the playoffs this year, more than likely we won't but I haven't had this much optimism in a very long time. Just watching Barkley makes me happy each week.
That when I rewatch the greats such as Sayers, BO, Sanders, etc. I see Barkleys skills throughout. He is such a combination of speed, strength, lateral movement and hands!
If he stays healthy we are in for some great moments as fans

Holy crap. Im blanking. BO?
That confused me too. Thinking Bo Jackson??
Not drafting Barkley with the 2nd pick would have been a crime

In fairness to me, both letters were in caps thus implying initials.
It's just not ALL Barkley. The line has definitely improved. And Barkley is a big reason they are better because DL and LBs have to be more honest when he is in the line up. They can't just tee off.
Not Foster, but 53, look starting at 1:27, he sees the play moves toward the hole and just kind of stands there. Is it possible he loses Barkley behind Hernandez?
We are playing cupcakes. Hopefully we win this week.
As noted, that is not a cupcake D the Giants OL and Barkley pureed into chopped liver. The "smoke through a keyhole" play shows Hernandez executing a perfect combo block (first double teaming the nose tackle, #95 DaRon Payne, then squaring up the LB) and Solder with double team help from Ellison driving #93 Jon Allen yards off the LOS.
Payne and Allen are two of the best young DL on football, two Bama studs, both high 1st round picks known to have been great picks by the Skins. Those guys are Alabama Prime Ribeyes being turned into chopped liver by the Giants' best two OL, Hernandez and Solder.
That is power football grade A, the likes of which we haven't seen since the Giants' run blockers were named Snee, Seubert, Diehl, et. al. There isn't a huge hole there BTW - you wouldn't expect one to open up vs. those excellent DL. But they make what Baldinger called "a puncture wound" and for Barkley that is enough for an eight yard gain or so: "like smoke through a keyhole."
Barkley will watch that tape and remonstrate that he let himself be ankle takled rather than gain another 15 or more yards that play, probably.
But that's good power football against two of the best young DL in the league.

53 is Zach Brown and he does freeze when he should be filling that hole between Hernandez and Solder. Doesn't Hernandez get a one handed shove on him there coming off the double team?

True, but we were losing to these cupcakes early in the year or last year and more important, we sure as fuck werent averaging 30 plus pts a week no matter who we played.
Giants are playing much better football. If you want to question that our defense is playing cupcake offenses I wont dispute that. But the giants offense is scoring against anyone, including some damn good defenses.
The D needs a lot of help but has pretty much played hard all year and things never really deteriorated to truly awful levels. The unit needs help but seems to be well coached and at least stable. The offense was in a state of crisis for a long long time. And thats being kind. Seems to have finally found its way.
... I've been watching the NFL for more than half a century and I don't believe I've ever seen a GM completely remake either the OL or DL in the way Gettleman did this year. I mean, it's incredible.
If anyone claims they believed the Giants could fix this OL that went 1-7 to start the season - during the season - then I call LIAR. I believe what Gettleman did with this OL this year has never been done in the history of the NFL before. You just don't completely dismantle the entire line - completely release 2 of the 5 players ... put the rest on a merry go round to get the right positions ... hold test tryouts mid-season ... it's nuts.
And say what you want about the lack of talent the Giants were playing ... I'm not claiming this OL are world beaters... but I am claiming that the OL that went 1-7 to start the season would have been destroyed by Washington (hell they would have been destroyed by a lot of high school teams).
And more than the pass protection, it is the run blocking that has amazed me the most. Like him or hate him, Gettleman didn't sit back - it would have been easy after 1-7 to throw in the towel and say "we'll fix this during the off season"... he actually went out and did something about it.
RE: It continues to amaze me what Gettleman did with the OL

The vikings did this last season. They brought in 5 new starters and had a great unit.

No, but the Giants didn't bring in a bunch of guys midseason either. A team picking up a player off waivers happens all the time. Everyone else playing OL right now was with the team in camp. They're just happening to play better.

The Giants outright released two of their offensive linemen mid-season. Gettleman played with this OL mid-season.

I understand what you said. But you're claiming it's never been done before in history. They cut flowers, started his backup instead, and brought in a guy off waivers. It's any week in the NFL.
I like Baldy's content and I really like that he's enthusiastic about Barkley. But I think he gets a bit too enthusiastic. His delivery is a bit over the top.

He covers the whole league, so he'll get super excited about other players too. Good insight and fun breakdowns at least.
Not cupcake run defenses - which is what the clip is about.

sidelines and getting carted off .
Barkley resembles a lot of how Sayres ran .
Sterling Shepard blocked Clinton-Dix onto the ground one play. I think it was the 52 yard run.

Washington's run defense was 11th pre-SB and dropped to 14th post SB this past Sunday. I checked it out during the game, before the update on Monday.
Jus' sayin'.
That you Drew?
this site would be going crazy if we passed on him and he was doing this for the Jets
Which makes Barkley so amazing.
