Someone mentioned on another post that Eagles-Cowboys drew a larger audience in DC than Giants-Skins. Al Galdi on WTEM 980 ran through the gory details during morning rush this morning:
- Giants-Skins 14.0
- Eagles-Cowboys 19.8
- Skins average ratings in 2013 26.6 (Shananhan's last year and it was a dumpster fire)
- Skins average ratings in 2014 22.7 (Gruden's first year)
- Seacawks-Skins January 2013 playoff game 50.2
We all saw the empty stadium on Sunday, but the fans aren't even watching at home. I know the Skins started the game with Sanchez which would is like waiting for the trainwreck. However, they were still 6-6 with four to go against a hated division rival.
Agree. It really wasn't his fault. There is a reason why 2 QBs have already broken their legs behind that offensive line.
Johnson was just better, because he has some wheels, and could get away from the pressure.

Also, the Defense had a 40 point lead with 20:00 to play. We haven't seen Johnson with the defense going full speed.
With that being said, I am going to try to find heir average rating coming into the game. That is probably the more accurate comparison.
I honestly feel bad for Skins fans, like my wife. It sucks to have a quality franchise squandered by imbecilic ownership. I should know, I'm a Knicks fan.

I'm actually proud of the fanbase for standing up to the owner for this first time since he took over. His smoke and mirror show has warn off. They usually buy into the off season champ mentality. None of my skins fan friends had that mentality this year. It was surprising to see.

wasn't quite as bad as made out to be. Don't get me wrong, he was far from good but his Oline was like ours earlier and his receivers dropped 3-4 balls.
Funny that they played so much better when Josh Johnson came in, even though they were losing by 40 points.
Josh can run surprisingly well. And he's better than Sanchez.
made a big play for a QB who's career may be over .
You got Dan Snyder and a coach thats likely going to get
canned . I think ratings are down across the board as well .
I stopped watching the NBA as a Knicks fan .
Seems anymore you put three superstars on one team and
Championship .
The numbers in the OP show season averages for 2013 and 2014 which were absolutely dreadful seasons.

don't put it in any real context IMO. What was their rating for other late season 1:00 games when the team was going nowhere? What rating did other bad teams do in the 1:00 slot on Sunday (Jets, Bills, Cardinals, etc).

and because it's average, it's possible the ratings started out ok and then dropped off.
#5
There is no comparison to other weeks (recent weeks, which can actually be used for comparison - numbers from 2013 cannot since TV ratings were much different). There is no comparison to other markets.
It doesn't consider the Giants-Skins game went up against Ravens-Chiefs, a much better game and important to a lot of people in the DC market.
The PHI-DAL game didn't have competition. The late game of the DH always is primed for high ratings
