I've been thinking about this too. They seem to have some very good writers/break a lot of news.

And I like them and her writing, which is what made me really want to get the subscription.

I think it's worth it. My primary motivation for taking the plunge was that I really like their slate of MLB contributors.

But I have enjoyed their stuff on other sports as well.

I'd say that there's nothing particularly earth-shattering that makes you say "THIS IS WHY I SIGNED UP!!!!", but it's just a consistently high level of sports journalism, mostly free of the hot-take look-at-me click-click-click bullshit.

I'm 6 months in to my Athletic subscription and it's some of the best money I've spent. High quality content, almost all the writers for each of my teams is among the best in the field at what they do and I only regret not subscribing sooner.

aren't necessarily writing to a deadline. The articles often pick things apart in ways you don't find elsewhere.

and they will only continue to steal the big writers.

and there is no guesswork involved in accessing the content you select when you sign up
