NGT-Gruden

mattyblue : 12/11/2018 11:03 pm
So I have a friend who is a great guy and has always been a big Raiders fan. He is originally from LA. He is also one of the biggest sources of misinformation you will ever find.

Anyways, I just spoke to him and he thinks Gruden is great and is a huge homer. Basically he was telling me that trading Mack and Cooper was all Mckenzies doing, and Gruden was big time against it. He also thinks Carr will be back and him and Gruden are fine. This all seemed very questionable to me. Does anyone have the scoop on the Raiders or followwhat has gone on there? I found a couple of articles that seem to contradict one another. One claimed basically that none of their mess would have happened if they had let Gruden have total control, while the other article by NBC sports seemed to indicate that McKenzie was against trading Mack, but Gruden blamed him for not getting a big enough return. Anyone have a clue about what the truth is?

I didn’t think Gruden would be able to successfully return to coaching but I didn’t expect it to be as bad as it has seemed. I can delete this after getting a few responses, I figured maybe someone who follows them more might know.

No way they pay Gruden what they did then not give him the ability to veto a trade of Mack.

That’s a great point, and very obvious. I actually feel like a moron for not thinking that to start with.
I still would love to know

if Gruden pushed for the trade of Mack. He is the type of player you can build a defense around. A stud pass rusher is not easy to find. We paid Vernon a fortune and he hasn’t really done a lot. Chicago seems like they are going to be a very good team soon. I didn’t think much of Trubisky at first, but he has been playing some great football this year.

Gruden has done a good job moving his assets for good trade value compare to what most teams are getting for their players. I would have no problem with the Mack trade because of the money he wanted and the way the NFL is going defense is just getting harder to play with the savings you could add 3 to 4 decent players to round out a defense in FA then draft with your other picks OL and a QB of the future since its obvious that Carr is only going to be slightly above average.

You'd think, but all signs suggest that Davis is as dysfunctional an owner as his dad was. Who can really say with that guy.

I could see where you are coming from, the logic isn’t bad. I just think of Mack as worth the money. Regardless, I still think Carr is gonna have a good career. I know he gets shit on here a lot, but I like the way he plays. He hasn’t looked excellent this year but I am not sold that he isn’t going to be able to cut it. I Definitely could be wrong and I wouldn’t trade a high pick for him because his cutting seems imminent but I really think he is talented, and still young. It’ll be I interesting to see where he lands.

note I was just reading that Oakland is suing the Raiders. How shitty must it be for your team to just move?

Lol! He’s actually a great guy and I kind of suspect he doesn’t even like football that much. I think he just tries to chat with me about it to be friendly. One weird thing about him is he still calls me to talk, nothing wrong with it, but everyone else I know texts me and is straight to whatever point they want to make. He calls just to check in and see how myself and my kids are. I also believe he is very interested in a couple of my wife’s single friends, but I am as well so I don’t fault him. He never comes out and asks me or my wife to set him up though. He’s an odd dude.
Whoa

Oakland did nothing for the Raiders. Would not even aid in the building of their own stadium. Made them play in Oak A's stadium. Same with Saint Louis and San Diego. IF your city wants to be cheap and not supportive leave.

Totally agree, but the premise of the thread was that the trade was McKenzie's doing. That's extremely unlikely.

It's possible that Davis figured the transition from Oakland to LV was costing him a lot of money and the team was floundering, so why bother laying out a huge bonus for Mack for the team to be mediocre at best during the interim. Trade him, get the picks, save the money, rebuild for when they're relocated.

There's one thing for sure - no way did they let Gruden lose out to McKenzie because the other guy was technically GM.
