Barkley has 8 plays over 40 yards this season.
In the past 28 years only 2 running backs have ever had more.
Chris Johnson had 10 in 2009, the year he broke Faulks single season total yardage record and won nfl offensive player of the year.
Barry Sanders had 12 in 1997, the year he won NFL mvp.
3 other backs have matched Barkley’s 8 plays of 40 plus yards in the last 28 years.
Adrian Peterson in 2012 when he won NFL MVP.
Ladian Tomlinson in 2006 when he won NFL MVP.
Tiki Barber in 2005 when he came close to matching Faulks single season total yardage record, and was named first team all pro.
The common denominator among all the backs listed above is that for each, it was their finest NFL season. This is Barkley’s rookie season and he still has 3 games left.
Barkley is a franchise changer and I thought he would be great, but apparently he is awesome.
There will always be players who never go beyond the promise of their rookie year. I hope that isn’t Barkley.
I really think he will break the single game mark at some point. If he stays healthy and the Oline continues to improve, I think it is only a matter of time.
He was such an anomaly. He peaked and faded so fast. Then became a JAG for a handful of teams. Very strange.

He was a very one dimensional back, I think DCs eventually figured him out and schemed against him.
Cool stat OP.
NFL stats lists him as having 6 rushes over 40 yards.....

Cool stat OP.
Absolutely, I would say that and their NFL experience..
Tiki, 30 years old/9th season had 411 touches.
Johnson at 24 years old/2nd season had 408.
Tomlinson 27 years old/6th season had 404.
Peterson 27 years old/6th season had 388.
Sanders, 29 years old/9th season had 368 touches.
Barkley, in his rookie year, at just 21 years of age has only 287 touches.

8 plays over 40 yards, 6 rushing, 2 receiving. His 6 rushing is still very impressive and also very rare.
The fact that he's combined this big-play skill with 0 fumbles is just special.
Pretty impressive that Tiki is on this list since he was probably the slowest/least explosive player on that list during the seasons they accomplished these big plays.
One notable stat: Barkley is putting up the second-most scrimmage yards per game (134.8) by any rookie since the 1970 NFL merger, per NFL Research.
Only Dickerson had a stronger pace, and it's not over yet.
2019 Offensive Pro Bowlers: Giants' Saquon Barkley a no-brainer - ( New Window )
Bill Simmons recently said it best: 49 times out of 50, you take the regarded QB prospect over the regarded RB prospect. Only a guy like Barkley represents the one time you don't.
These types of comments are so unnecessary and can be so divisive.

He is going to be the greatest RB and perhaps most explosive/dynamic offensive player in NFL history.

Lol why? What’s wrong with predicting anything like that? Barkley looks as good as any rookie rb ever. Plus it’s just a prediction...
Caught one pass that was on his back hip
Caught one pass with one hand
And yes, he dropped a ball on one route - and he was furious at himself about it.
Took me two seconds to find Randy Moss, 2007. Do you want to start to look at Jerry Rice's career?
I'm fine with the premise, but the idea of making up stats to fit your premis should not be condoned

Only trying to help you here...from the original post:

You are doubling down on your stance instead of issuing a " my bad"?
Read the OP again, because apparently you have the reading comprehension of a 5 year old.
The OP clearly states "touches among RBs."
What's made up about that?
Douchenozzle.

Try taking a deep breath and reading the actual parameters the OP is discussing. You're posting like a chicken without a head right now.

Who would it divide? Even if it's not true, why would it offend any actual Giants fan?

It's not a prediction, it's a definitive statement. A prediction would start with "I think he's __" Just a lot of the wild, off the wall stuff that gets thrown around here and then users wonder why people respond with eyerolls and sarcastic comments and namecalling.
Barkley has 8 plays of 40+ yds this season (287 touches)
Elliot has 6 plays of 40+ yds in his career (978 touches)
Elliot is a great player but Barkley's big play ability is something else.

Wait, what?? I didn't say that!
