is Bucs LT Donovan Smith. He would be a much better fit at RT. He is young with lots of starting experience who could thrive with a move to the right side. Draft a C in round 2 plus adding Smith in FA would go a long way towards fixing the line.
or Dix would be my choice on quick perusal. Might be more than we are willing to spend. How deep are the LB and DE positions in the draft?
Lawrence/Clowney will be franchised if extensions can't be reached.
Dix wouldn't be a bad replacement if they let Collins go, but isn't a great fit next to him.
Daryl Williams is a guy to keep an eye on. Drafted by DG, started all 16 last season and was slated to do so again this year before injuring his knee game 1. Would fill arguably the biggest hole on offense and supposedly the draft is loaded with talent at center (the other glaring hole).
or even Anthony Barr from Minny. Someone more explosive on the upswing of their career to replace Barwin. Also need to draft at least 1 of each position.
Secondary obviously also needs work but hopefully they can find some guys one 1-2 year deals there.
Exactly like juggernaut said. He is noticeably slower with bad angles. He is just a name at this point. But the point remains, Washington didn't trade for to let him walk after a half a season.

They traded for him before Smith's injury when they were still hoping to make a playoff run. I'm guessing they'll try and re-sign him, but I can't imagine he's a priority or a lock to stay there.

I wanted Smith last year but he re-signed with the Skins. He should be a top target for the Giants. Release Vernon sign Smith and draft a pass rusher in round 1 or 2 to compete with Lorenzo Carter opposite Smith.
Along with signing Brown. It would be preferable, I think, if it was a RT. That upgrades a weak spot that is hard to fill even with a high rookie draft choice.
Is the guy I'd like them to make a run at. I know there is a lot of talent at C in the draft, however that also plays in FA as teams may take that mentality as well. I don't see his contract getting out of hand like some of the edge rushers and OT talent will. He's a signing that will help fortify the OL and one we won't regret down the road.
Maybe look at a guy like Za'Darius Smith whose having a bit of a breakout season with 7 sacks and 18 QBHits.
Or take a flier on Dante Folwer or Shane Ray and see if a change of scenery can help them.
You responded re: Dix, but then mention Fowler. Do you think teams normally trade for players and then let them walk after a half a season?
Fowler yes. I am not sure that Rams have the cap to sign him long term. They are trying to win this year and old gave up a 5th for him. They can let him walk.
Remember Goff and Peters, Zuerline, Whitworth (who they will not resign but may need to find a FA replacement) entering final year next year.

Normally? I'm not positive, but it certainly seemed there was a lot more action at the trade deadline than in years past.
But there's also a big difference in trading premium picks for guys like Cooper, Mack vs trading mid-late round picks for players like Dix or Fowler. I think the Skins and Rams will try and re-sign them, but I don't think either is worthy of even the transition tag and the primary motivation for both trades was to improve the teams for this season.
Also, without using tags, there's a decent chance both hit the open market, since they haven't signed extensions yet. At that point, the Skins/Rams are on even footing with the rest of the league.
Spend the money on Paradis and make a real play at Dee Ford. That’s what I would love to see happen. Draft a RT. Take a flier on someone like Adrian Amos.

He is from Long island so maybe he wants to come home
that's available then Eli will be the QB next year. Maybe they can make it more cap friendly. It will at least give KL another year. It might mean even extending Eli another year to make it friendlier.

We have to come away with a OT in free agency also
Paridis Dee Ford are a couple to consider .
Lawrence, Clowney, or Dix aren't going anywhere. Dix was just traded for. Washington is not going to let him walk after trading for him.

I thought Dix was awful over the weekend. Some of the angles he took on a few running plays were poor, and he was pretty bad in coverage too.
Love to see the Giants get Daryl Williams. Plug him in at RT next to Brown at RG and you have the making of a pretty solid OL entering next season.

Yea, he's a poor man's Collins.

Bring back Brown.
Draft a center in rounds 1-3.
Wheeler becomes backup/swing T.

Panthers connection to Gettleman as well.

Dix has absolutely sucked and the Skins front office and staff will get blown up this offseason.
Thanks for the input on Dix
Dee Ford
RT Daryl Williams would also be a nice target.
ILB Deone Buchanon, re-unite him with Betcher.
OLB Za'Darius Smith, Preston Smith could be targets if Vernon is cut. Cheaper contracts, upside players who fit the 3-4.
Dee Ford would be great, might be too pricey though.
After the Josh Brown issues, I don't think the Giants would go after anyone with that history, nor should they.
