The New York Knicks and two-way guard Allonzo Trier have agreed to a two-year deal, per league sources on @TheAthleticNBA @WatchStadium. The Knicks are expected to release Ron Baker to create roster space, league sources said.
But hes also 33, currently injured, and really not that good of player. His defense is also overrated. He's not a bad defender, but he isn't exactly Tony Allen. He's probably not starting for a good team. I just don't see a team eager to pay a 34 year old Lee 13 million next year...
I could see a team talking themselves into Hardaway. The guy has his flaws which are magnified on this team, but he can score and he's only 26. I just don't think the Knicks will salary dump him yet.
Maybe I'm undervaluing him though.
I think its Knicks or Warriors for Durant. Is he really going to form another "superteam" with Leonard on the Clippers? Maybe I'm being optimistic...

I think the Clips are a legit threat...given their city and owner. Plus they have Jerry West advising them which doesn't hurt.
Most likely scenario is that neither big free agent comes to the Knicks so there is no point in dumping pieces now to clear space.
My only real issue with Hardaway is he takes shots and playing time away from the young guys but as a lead player he kind of sucks which is good for the tank.
and people questioned why the knicks got rid of him before the season started and didnt wait
basically said that he was to lit for new york city and the town is to lit, memphis is smaller so he can be lit withiut anyone really caring...
There were rumors that perry did not want him around the young kids and hahn intimated that noah got to one of the young guys last year, my guess hernangomez
Hahn said he used to bring younger players with him too.
Seems like why they needed to keep him away from the team, beyond just benching him.
Party hard and couldn't recover like he used to when he was younger and Hahn said it impacted the younger players he took under his wing too.
I used to have great respect for this guy too. How about you show some pride in your job? Guy got paid 72 million and didn’t earn one penny of it. And he had the audacity to complain about NY?
to this day I can't believe Phil thought it was a good idea to surround KP with garbage (on and off the court) like Noah and Rose.

Same. Seemed like a gamer and a good dude. He may be a "good dude" still but not a professional and clearly he got paid and stop caring.

Phil didn't know what he was doing. That much is clear.

And hiring Derek Fisher to coach them
It is amazing how the lakers can do know wrong
2) Too stupid to keep his mouth shut about being too stupid to play in NY.
Would think they try to trade russel now -

i was thinking this, doesnt make sense for them to resign russel...
“We became close, yes,’’ Trier said after Thursday’s practice here. “Yeah, he’s seen plenty [of my games]. I was one of the top-ranked players in the country out of high school. Just a guy being a genuine person, wanted to look out for me, wanted to get to know me and build a relationship with me. Ever since then our bond has grown and [he] became my brother.

Trier and “KD” became “close” when Trier was one of the top high school prospects in the country, spending two years playing high school ball in Oklahoma City. The then-Thunder star has served as a mentor and attended several of Trier’s high school games.

there is a quote from kd saying he jumped out of his chair when he say triers dunk against atlanta
Yup, he has his faults, but Durant loves the game. You can see how fed up he gets with the distractions surrounding the NBA - he just wants to play and go home. He mentioned Ja Morant on a recent Bill Simmons podcast - I think I know who we're drafting.

Yeah, Rose is such garbage.....
He's basically beloved by all his teammates and city. Great call on that one.
Doncic's fun to watch, and I would've wanted him #1 overall had the Knicks won the lottery. He's not exactly the greatest athlete in the world - he's a little, uh, doughy - but he can play. Amazing that Dallas got him at #5. A perfect successor to Dirk as the face of the franchise. Guys will want to play with him, too.

yup, he's garbage, plain and simple. You're blind.
Reminds me of the story about ARod and Jeter when they were still friends. ARod stayed at Jeter's house in Tampa once, and was shocked that Jeter didn't have the Extra Innings package on his cable. Baseball consumed ARod's life, but to Jeter it was just a job.
I wonder if there was a trade option for the Knicks. Looking back would you have traded the 2018 and protected 2019 pick for Doncic? I doubt they wanted to drop to 9 or probably would have wanted no protection on 2019. I'd still be tempted- Doncic is incredible.
As in stands now Dallas only had to trade the 2019 18th overall pick for him. A great great trade...

Lol... it’s ok to be wrong about him. Most people who don’t watch games have been, like yourself.

i am going to guess you have not watched him at all this year..
18 ppg, 5assists, 49 percent, 48 percent from 3...
far from garbage
That’s kinda why he’s there..
Did you expect a well oiled machine right off the bat after missing the entire season so far?
"I think they did a phenomenal job on the last draft," one NBA scout said of the Knicks. "They definitely have an eye for basketball talent.
"If you look at the work that Scott Perry did in Sacramento, if you put those two drafts together, he's probably next to Danny Ainge [of the Celtics]."
The scout added that if you had one NBA team comprised of Fox, Jackson, Mason, Giles, Knox, Robinson and Trier, it would be fairly loaded with young talent.

@IanBegley
The NBA's last 2-minute report states that refs should have called a shooting foul on Matthew Dellavedova with 19 seconds to play & NYK down by 1 in CLE's win over the Knicks on Wednesday. A foul would have put Emmanuel Mudiay on the free-throw line with a chance to take the lead
