The New York Knicks and two-way guard Allonzo Trier have agreed to a two-year deal, per league sources on @TheAthleticNBA @WatchStadium. The Knicks are expected to release Ron Baker to create roster space, league sources said.
All the best to Baker.

Allonzo Trier's two-year contract is for $7 million and has a team option for the second year, per ESPN sources. Ron Baker will be waived to make room for Trier.

The Knicks would have lost their bi-annual exception next year, anyway, since they plan on dropping below the cap. So its a good use of it now.
Trier will be a restricted free agent in 2020 with Early Bird rights.
Understand what your saying but give the Knicks situation all it cost them was cash and not cap. It was just an enormous parting gift from Phil Jackson.
It's amazing to say given how many shitty contracts they have given out, but Noah is by far the worst. Given the high cost and now length with the stretch and just how bad he was, it's not even close.
and they are all locked up...
if knicks do sign a max with kp, can go over cap to sign dotson after next year along with trier...
Robinson is signed for 4 years...
Hopefully they don't do something stupid early just to get it. You don't necessarily need 38 mil in cap space going into the conversation with him, they need the cap space when they need to make the signing official. I have no problem attaching an asset to trade Lee or Hardaway when you actually have a Durant/Kyrie/Kawhi in fold; then you know attaching a pick wont kill you. To attach draft picks without assurance you are getting a prime player though will always come back to haunt them.

it is actually closer to 8 or 9 million so you need to trade lee
there is a cap hold on any contract, just a matter of early bird rights or full bird rights
Is Tim Hardaway Jr. or Trey Burke considered good young players? :D
No bird rights on Vonleh. Maybe they can use the MLE once they go over the cap but I think once they renounce him they can't sign him. Could be wrong on that.
Hardaway is the guy they have to move. He can help a team but his role here just isn't needed. I think a trade with Detroit or Sac make a lot of sense.
If you also need to move Lee this offseason, then you can figure it out once its definitely needed ( trade dump, trade with pick, stretch).

The answer to your question is they are Michigan Men. So, yes.

Awesome. If a team is good for Christmas, we'll even include young stud Mario Hezonja
But hes also 33, currently injured, and really not that good of player. His defense is also overrated. He's not a bad defender, but he isn't exactly Tony Allen. He's probably not starting for a good team. I just don't see a team eager to pay a 34 year old Lee 13 million next year...
I could see a team talking themselves into Hardaway. The guy has his flaws which are magnified on this team, but he can score and he's only 26. I just don't think the Knicks will salary dump him yet.
Maybe I'm undervaluing him though.
I think its Knicks or Warriors for Durant. Is he really going to form another "superteam" with Leonard on the Clippers? Maybe I'm being optimistic...

I think the Clips are a legit threat...given their city and owner. Plus they have Jerry West advising them which doesn't hurt.
Most likely scenario is that neither big free agent comes to the Knicks so there is no point in dumping pieces now to clear space.
My only real issue with Hardaway is he takes shots and playing time away from the young guys but as a lead player he kind of sucks which is good for the tank.
and people questioned why the knicks got rid of him before the season started and didnt wait
basically said that he was to lit for new york city and the town is to lit, memphis is smaller so he can be lit withiut anyone really caring...
There were rumors that perry did not want him around the young kids and hahn intimated that noah got to one of the young guys last year, my guess hernangomez
Hahn said he used to bring younger players with him too.
Seems like why they needed to keep him away from the team, beyond just benching him.
Party hard and couldn't recover like he used to when he was younger and Hahn said it impacted the younger players he took under his wing too.
I used to have great respect for this guy too. How about you show some pride in your job? Guy got paid 72 million and didnt earn one penny of it. And he had the audacity to complain about NY?
to this day I can't believe Phil thought it was a good idea to surround KP with garbage (on and off the court) like Noah and Rose.
