NFT: What is DC doing to the Joker?

So now I heard of this Juaquin Phoenix Joker origin
movie and he looks horrible. Why can’t they just
do a good, vanilla Joker?

Nicholson’s wasn’t bad, Ledgers was good but he was
more of a terrorist in makeup. And let’s forget the
Leto debacle.

I don’t get why they want to invent new ways to
ruin a great villain.

Wouldn't a "vanilla" Joker basically strip him of his essence? The entire point of the Joker is that he's an unstable wild card. He's not supposed to be a static, "plain" character.

Get Mark Hamill to play the Joker (seen above as his incarnation of the "Trickster" in the CW Flash TV show), and the DCAU writers (who understand the character, and can actually write an intelligent script), and you'd have something.

The Joker, but Heath Ledger takes the cake. If this helps any, Joaquin Phoenix was actually, originally pegged to play the Joker role that ultimately went to Heath Ledger. I guess he turned it down and that was all she wrote.
