It's a microaggression that exists that Dep doesn't want to recognize because he lives in his little-closeted world where racism/sexism doesn't exist.
And where do I live? Where do I work? Shut the fuck up idiot. I live in the real world where african-americans and latinos are the majority and are unfairly mistreated. You dont know shit about me. In fact you dont know shit about a thing.
You made a stupid comment and got called out on it. grow up and move on.

I don't think someone having an opinion about Odell being injury prone or the team making a mistake investing too much money in him is rooted in racism. That is a FAR stretch.
Less of a stretch is Odell's injury list piling up for one reason or another. I am a fan of Odell's play, not of his antics. These injuries have nothing to do with the latter and is a different conversation altogether.
Let's keep the convo clean and on point gentlemen.

It's a shame and I see it all over the media. The worst part is that the word 'racist' will or has become desensitized.
so let's not pretend that at least some of his critics have issued with his race.
Certainly not saying it's anything close to a majority of his critics.
I think the poster above nailed it, it's not simply that OBJ's black that bothers some of the older white fans, it's the "type" of person he is. The tattoos, the showboating, the way he talks, the social media stuff, etc.
Hurts not having OBJ but not exactly the year to complain Â
when people go ballistic and infer that screwing around with a kicking net is some kind of symptom of team sabotaging behavior. Opinions on Beckham swing wildly in both directions. Some criticism is deserved, and some of it comes from things that shouldn't move any stable person's needle.
We can talk about race without people being outraged that they are being charged with being racists. Instead, we can be honest and admit race impacts reactions to players. Beckham is a prime example. So was JPP. Everything they do has been viewed with suspicion by some. Beckham is selfish and only wants attention, so he is a distraction. JPP was lazy and stupid. Some said Nicks was dogging it, even though his legs were shot.
I might be wrong, but I see white players not being subjected to the same kind of judgements about their character and efforts. I would ask people to at least think about it. Peace.
Eli takes a shitstorm of abuse and he's as white as white gets.
I have participated in these Beckham threads before, as Beckham is NOT my favorite player by a mile, and this is not the first time that people who seem to love him cry racism.
I also happen to love JPP and have always called the "lazy" argument against him total bullshit. I thought he was treated meanly and unfairly by much of this fanbase for a guy who was injured in a freak and tragic accident and did a lot for this franchise even if it was short-lived.
I also love Barkley more than just about any football player in the world right now.

Eli has been called a quitter
Eli has been called greedy
Eli has been called slow since he talks with a southern drawl and makes stupid faces.
Does that mean people here are racist? No. What it means is someone at the time said something incredibly stupid. Much like the person who called Beckham a banana head or JPP lazy.
One or two posters do not represent everyone. When a poster accuses someone of being racist - he better damn well have evidence to back it. Because that’s one of the most defamatory there is. Especially when the person being accused works with minorities for a living and on his spare time.
are you really gonna argue that people on this site are calling Eli stupid, greedy and a quitter?
Eli is almost universally praised here as being an incredibly intelligent QB known for his pre-snap reads and adjustments. And universally lauded for his toughness. Plenty of posters have noted that Eli has never cut the Giants a break when it comes to salary but I've NEVER heard anyone call him greedy.
The rest of your arguments are totally valid but there's not reason to make up a bunch of shit to support your point.
How can race even be brought into this argument when Â
I can confidently say everyone loves Saquon on and off the field and last I looked hes black where as OBJ is a mixed bag - love his ability and competitiveness on the field but lets face it peeing in the end zone, proposing to a net, the whole boat trip during playoff week, dissing his teammates with little Wayne - its his personality that sometimes is offsetting so when he misses a bunch of games you have to take everything into account to determine if he's worth the huge contract.
Eli takes a shitstorm of abuse and he's as white as white gets.

I'm personally married to an African American and I will have African American children.
Unless you actually live the struggle you will never fully see it.
For instance, my mother is a teacher for at-risk students (Think about the movie Dangerous Minds). The principal at her school wanted a kid that won a school election to remove his wave cap, or he was going to kick him out of the seat that he won.
This something the kid was really excited to be a part of, and something he was proud of.
In my mom's school, it's really hard to get people involved in these type of things.
The same guy wants no hoodies to be worn.
Personally, I went to school wore a hat every day, and wore a hoodie when I wanted to in high school, never once was asked to take either off or even questioned about it in high school.
Meanwhile the kids my mom are teaching are wearing hoodies because their hair is probably in the middle of being done, and don't want to be embarrassed. They are in the middle of trying to make their hair actually look good.
If you don't understand the struggle, you can surely come with me the next time my wife needs to get her hair done, and wait for the 8 hrs. it takes to be done.
So this principle is about to punish these kids because it doesn't take them 30 minutes to get their hair done sometimes. That's a microaggression that is just being ignored, and because no one calls them out on them they just keep walking around acting like assholes to people.
And if you think I'm just making this up, feel free to call Lono, BlueLou, ChooperHatch, they have all met me and my wife. Lono is a little too obsessed with my wife, to be honest, but he's the best, so I give him a pass
Look, if Saquon was more eccentric and flamboyant like OBJ is, there would be equally as many people on this board that actually hate him even though he has the talent. Simply because he just doesn't shut up and do what he is told.
I think about my Grandfather and uncle who both are really racist. Anytime something happens to OBJ, they talk in the exact same way. I know 100% that they wouldn't do this if he was a white guy. I grew up with my grandfather telling me Olineman have to be white because they are smarter.
I might have flew a bit off the handle, but honestly, I can't let the microaggressions slide anymore if I want my children to grow up in a different world.
I don’t believe racism is an all or nothing proposition. I was raised in a culture that was in ways very racist. That is part of me. So I would never say “no, I always view white and black people in exactly the same way. I never behave in a racist manner.” So I think about how I react to people of different races. I deal with it. It’s my judgement that some people hold white and black players to different standards. I also realize that since 70% if NFL players are black, it becomes more difficult to discern racial judgements.
are you really gonna argue that people on this site are calling Eli stupid, greedy and a quitter?

Tesla,
I promise you that there are posters who said as recent as this year. BestFeature called Eli a quitter during one of our early losses. Now... do I believe everyone thinks that or the other things? Of course not.
I do understand racism exists. But I am going to pen the dumb things said here as outliners than what everyone else thinks.
I don’t pretend that I know what it feels like. I never said I do. But I do like to learn and try to understand and help youths who have been discriminated against.
Hell I even started a class in my school dealing with stereotyping and racisms. The metoo movement. And other discriminating factors in society. I am the only white person in the room. And I have a waiting list of students who want to take it.
You made accusations at me that were wrong and unfair. I don’t know what it’s like to be black. But I do try to help these kids become better individuals and make them more aware of all the right/wrongs of the world.
RE: How can race even be brought into this argument when Â
I can confidently say everyone loves Saquon on and off the field
Everyone makes sure to reference Saquon's attitude whenever they cite his positives and "how easy it is" to root for him. There's certainly a percentage of people who don't approve of any athlete of any color who wants to be the center of attention.
There's a segment of the fanbase that thinks the team is better off without his "behavior", which has, other than the Josh Norman game, been nothing more than college meathead nonsense that shouldn't have anyone foaming at the mouth. It gets blown up larger than it should be for reasons that are difficult to justify the level of anger that come with it.
He's done nothing to justify anyone thinking a team would be better off without his talent. When he makes a great play, they shrug or stay silent. When he makes a negative play, it's open season.
On the larger level, the fox broadcast will replay and slo-mo Odell Beckham emoting on the sideline and make him seem to be an unhinged, out of control player, but they don't show him doing the things he's done for years, things that other players are held up as 'team guys' for: interacting with his teammates in a positive way, or doing the hard work that would run counter to the often repeated 'selfish, diva, cancer' critiques.
He's injury prone because his ankle broke when he was planted or because he got leg whipped?
I don't think people understand what injury prone actually means.
Are you arguing he's not injury prone? To me, being injury prone in football means that the player consistently puts his body in awkward or vulnerable positions that allow the opportunity to get hurt. Eli's no "tougher" than OBJ because he doesn't get hurt. He just knows how to fall and when to fall. In a sense, Beckham's athleticism hurts him, quite literally, because he's constantly testing the limits of how his body can contort. 99 times out of 100 it's fine, but when it's not fine, you get situations like this.
So I consider Beckham to be an injury prone player, and the games missed really speaks for itself.
You want your players to give full effort, but print a negative label on them for getting hurt doing so.
He broke his ankle while getting hit going up for a ball on a play that a football player of his skill level should make. If he protects himself instead, he's going to get pounded by fans and writers alike.
You want your players to give full effort, but print a negative label on them for getting hurt doing so.
He broke his ankle while getting hit going up for a ball on a play that a football player of his skill level should make. If he protects himself instead, he's going to get pounded by fans and writers alike.
He already has. Beckham has made a concerted effort on some plays to simply get the yards and get out of bounds and some on here have killed him for it on the game threads. “Why the hell is he running out of bounds!?!”. It’s happened numerous times this season alone.
And that assclown calling out dep for being a racist? Is this for real? What a crock of shit. I don’t give a rats ass if you’re married to an African American woman. That doesn’t give you carte blanche to attack other posters character that you don’t know a damn thing about. Everyone wants race relations to improve in this country, but throwing around the race card on a regular basis because someone criticizes a player on the team isn’t the proper way to go about helping the cause.
Besides, if dep is racist, he has a weird way of showing it since he really wants to have Derrick Roses children. Ain’t that right dep? Haha, just kidding. I think?
They are both white players. OBJ isn't, so you know he is a cancer because of it.
The most criticized Giant is Eli by a mile.
The most universally loved Giant is Barkley.
So I don't think your theory really has much evidence to back it up. Unless, you are saying black stereotypes come out when people criticize Odell, then maybe you have a point. But if you are saying fans dislike Odell because he is black, I just don't see it because Giants roster is 80% non-white.

Hey don't forget my favorite - microaggressions....gd buzzwords..
I don't like his contract. I don't think any receiver should get paid that much and eat up that much salary cap space.
You could buy a whole quality receiving corps for what he gets paid. Nothing personal against him. But good for him getting that salary from management but I think it hamstrings the team.
I've been thinking the same thing about Eli's contract for 3 years now also.
You could buy a whole quality receiving corps for what he gets paid.
So, with his new contract, his average is about $18m per season. I'd be interested to see what you might think you could build for that money if we split it over 3 positions, (WR1, WR2, and slot). Guys like Donte Moncrief & Marvin Jones take home 8 to 9m a year.
Are we really having a dick measuring contest right now over which white guy understands the struggle of the blacks the most?
News flash. Nobody gives a fuck if Odell was black, white or red what some of us care about is that he is an asshole and this will now be the 2nd time he isn't showing up with the season on the line (Gb playoffs the first). If the guy is injured so be it but if he is just hurt then at 90 mil you gotta suit up.
Plenty of people got on Watt and plenty of people are currently on Rodgers.

See, it's not racism.

Plenty of posters have noted that Eli has never cut the Giants a break when it comes to salary but I've NEVER heard anyone call him greedy.
The rest of your arguments are totally valid but there's not reason to make up a bunch of shit to support your point.
Tesla,
I promise you that there are posters who said as recent as this year. BestFeature called Eli a quitter during one of our early losses. Now... do I believe everyone thinks that or the other things? Of course not.
I do understand racism exists. But I am going to pen the dumb things said here as outliners than what everyone else thinks.

Beckham will never win with some people.
Besides, if dep is racist, he has a weird way of showing it since he really wants to have Derrick Roses children. Ain’t that right dep? Haha, just kidding. I think?
Hope all is well...
Plenty of people got on Watt and plenty of people are currently on Rodgers.
Clearly the posters who hate on Rodgers are homophobic!
I can have random thoughts and post it on teh internets too.

give JJ Watt this much grief over his injuries?
Or Packers fans with Aaron Rodgers
They are both white players. OBJ isn't, so you know he is a cancer because of it.
The most criticized Giant is Eli by a mile.
The most universally loved Giant is Barkley.
So I don't think your theory really has much evidence to back it up. Unless, you are saying black stereotypes come out when people criticize Odell, then maybe you have a point. But if you are saying fans dislike Odell because he is black, I just don't see it because Giants roster is 80% non-white.

You did graduate from Stanford didn't you? You never act like it. You act like a god damn elitist where no one's opinion, but your owns is the right one.
1. Never graduated from Standford
2. I am a fucking public school teacher.
3. Changing the narrative because you made some stupid remark.
I dont go around calling people racist, thats for damn sure. Maybe you should care less about my opinion and acting like an adult. Calling me fucking racist. Like I said, you better god damn have more than what you are spewing if you are going to make an accusation like that.
First I am racist, then sexist, now an elitist. Big talk, no action. Get lost.
Hey don't forget my favorite - microaggressions....gd buzzwords..
You could buy a whole quality receiving corps for what he gets paid. Nothing personal against him. But good for him getting that salary from management but I think it hamstrings the team.
I've been thinking the same thing about Eli's contract for 3 years now also.

Wow. That is quite the statement intimating that Ron mexico is racist.
Yikes.

So, with his new contract, his average is about $18m per season. I'd be interested to see what you might think you could build for that money if we split it over 3 positions, (WR1, WR2, and slot). Guys like Donte Moncrief & Marvin Jones take home 8 to 9m a year.
Me too except I'm not gay, married since 1983 and had a vasectomy in 1990. 😊
Montessori of Winter Garden Charter Schools?
Right on cue. Ironically someone in this exact thread said the same thing about AROD and yet you feign no outrage over that?
Interesting.

Didn't read the whole thread, genius.
Just own the fact that you got owned and we'll leave it alone.
