Undermanned to begin with, lose two more players during the game, and still pull out an overtime win on the road. Charlotte was doing some serious showboating in the first half too - nice to stick it up their ass.
Definitely outplayed Kemba tonight. The assists are continuing to climb as well, which is encouraging. I'll be curious to see his asking price in the off season.
Knox is such a different player on offense when his 3 is falling, it's fun to watch. Hopefully he learns to attack more when his 3 isn't falling. Also, he and the whole team need to just spend their free time shooting free throws.
I agree with 16 that Kornet seems to be more well rounded as a player than Kanter is.
"One of the smartest basketball players I've ever been around, always in the gym." You can tell the team was thrilled for Kornet. Even heard some "Luuuuuke" chants from the fans.
I want to see how the rest of this year plays out and see who develops. Then we can worry about free agency. Mudiay was if I remember a #3 pick. Nights like tonight leads us to believe hes part of the solution here, not just a stop gap. I can see him and Frank forming an interesting back court.
He needs to learn to let the game come to him, he forces to many shots, in the 4th he didnt force and let mudiay go to qork, he should of done the same thing in the 1st with knox...
Kanter needs to go, ive never seen a more selfish player and i had to laugh everytime zeller scored on him he screamed like he actually played good defense
when he said he was going to get Mudiay right. What happened to Ntilikina?
I was never a Ntilikina fan. The kid can't shoot and he shows little ability to break down a defender and drive to the basket. As a playmaker, I rarely see him hit the open man. His claim to fame is long arms and a good defender. Fair enough, but you can't play guard if you can't score and you also can't assist.

Deal's suddenly in peril. Memphis and Phoenix didn't communicate directly on trade, using Washington as a conduit in coordinating the 3-team deal, sources tell @ZachLowe_NBA and me. Grizzlies believe they were trading MarShon, but somehow Suns believed it was Dillon.
The defense was just lackadaisical in the first half. Inferior talent teams have to play tough defense. This team seems to have a real problem with the 1st/2nd quarter of games.

it is called Enes Kanter

Its because they are the youngest team in the nba coupled with the fact that they arent any good. They have a bunch of guys playing hard and thats about it. They are enjoyable to watch but you arent getting a consistent effort out of this kind of team.
From playing next to a defensive player like Ntilikina. And they are about the same size so that gives some flexibility in the evolving era of positionless basketball.
Seems like the Knicks have accepted that Kanter sucks.
Not sure they'll dump him, but Mitch and Luke's should steal more minutes. Now we just need Mills, Perry and Fizdale to find religion on just how bad Timmy is.
He is untradable unless knicks are going to package him to trade for a star, which they will not do. I really think they should buy him out in Feb during buyout season. It is going to be impossible to trade him.
I checked the score midway through, saw they were getting crushed and didn't bother turning it on when I got home. Didn't know they won until I read the Post on my phone over coffee this morning. What great games from Mudiay and Kornet. Be nice if they both keep it up.
Not that it matters much, but they're pretty short-handed for tomorrow's game at Indiana, what with all the minor injuries.
Problem is hes a volume scorer and needs to put up a lot of shots. You generally dont win with volume scorers. What I want to see from Fizdale is gradually reduce Kanter and Hardaways minites and importance and move forward for the future. Personally I want to see Mudiay, Ntilikina and Trier get the minutes (throw Burke in there when he is healthy.). Knox seems to have settled in as a starter, Vonleh starts until KP returns. I would rather see Robinson or Kornet start at the 5 with Kanter coming off the bench.

I think Hardaway can be good, but he's just miscast right now as the teams primary scorer. He needs to be the 3rd or 4th option and not the focal point of the offense. Right now too much of the scoring burden is placed on him so he dominates the ball and chucks up a lot of bad shots, if you put him next to Porzingis and another scorer (maybe that guy is Knox in another year) I think he will play a lot more under control.
The other thing that he really needs to work on is his engagement on the defensive end. I don't know if it is due to being so focused on being THE guy offensively, but it looks like he just doesn't even give a shit on D right now. I am hoping that if he is relegated to being the third option then you will see more energy from him on defense.
Great win last year. Im really loving this young team. Fizdale can really coach. Throwing out that 2-3 zone was a fantastic move. Night and day between Fiz and Hornacek/ Rambis/ Fisher.
So Mudiay is a must sign now? What kind of a deal are we talking?
Hardaway is what he is, he serves no purpose now or in the future. We can rationalize his contract any way we want, but thats a hard contract to move for a reason.
that Fizdale sees whats going on with Kanter and Hardaway in the 1st qtrs of game after game after game. It should be clearly evident to management that these two are NOT part of the solution here. Moving them, reducing their minutes- whatever is the way to go.

it is both sides, not just offensively, defensively kanter can not guard pick and rolls, he can not move fast enough to co test the ball handler
game tonight for some unknown reason, but my thoughts coming out of this game is that I wouldn't want Andrew Wiggins on my team no matter what cost. He's a total loser. I thought he would be much better
Leg injury - someone rolled into him.
Knox may be their best offensive player right now and in the first half tim and kanter completely ignored him...
raise your hand if you would rather watch kornet the rest the year over kanter
Trouble is, is you want to sign one of the big time free agents you have to renounce Mudiay to do it.

not if you can trade hardaway or lee...
really though unless it is durant, irving or kawhi i dont want a max guy..

he knows he is gone..
and it is obvious why they get down, teams just run pick and roll against kanter..
Per the report, the teams are attempting to finalize a a mult-team trade tonight.
Ariza had been linked to the Los Angeles Lakers this week, but the sides had not come close to a trade as of Friday morning.
Ariza, 33, signed a one-year deal in free agency in July. He is not eligible to be traded until after midnight.

Yep. Deal's dead.

He said Knicks and Fizdale first team to allow him to try and score and bring the ball up and be more than jjst a rebounder

I hate how the offense runs through Kanter and tim in the beginning of games...Kanter takes shots with 3 guys surrounding him
