Jabari Parker on the trade block
20 million team option next year

How about Courtney Lee plus Mario Hezonja and a future second

Obviously we can not resign Parker next year to clear cap

Glad they got this one.

Undermanned to begin with, lose two more players during the game, and still pull out an overtime win on the road. Charlotte was doing some serious showboating in the first half too - nice to stick it up their ass.
Mudiay - 34pts 8 assts 3 rebs

Not to shabby.
I guess Fizdale has a point

Knicks are 9-21.

I believe they've gone 3-7 in each 10-game increment - consistent at least. Still on pace for about 25 wins.

Leg injury - someone rolled into him.

i was behind and couldnt post, glad i waited i was ready to kill fizdale for that fucking zone but it worked...

Knox may be their best offensive player right now and in the first half tim and kanter completely ignored him...

raise your hand if you would rather watch kornet the rest the year over kanter

Trouble is, is you want to sign one of the big time free agents you have to renounce Mudiay to do it.

not if you can trade hardaway or lee...

really though unless it is durant, irving or kawhi i dont want a max guy..
Mudiay continuing to surprise.
JustaDiscussion : 12/14/2018 9:49 pm : link
Definitely outplayed Kemba tonight. The assists are continuing to climb as well, which is encouraging. I'll be curious to see his asking price in the off season.

Knox is such a different player on offense when his 3 is falling, it's fun to watch. Hopefully he learns to attack more when his 3 isn't falling. Also, he and the whole team need to just spend their free time shooting free throws.

I agree with 16 that Kornet seems to be more well rounded as a player than Kanter is.

Mudiay with some nice words for Kornet post-game.
bceagle05 : 12/14/2018 9:53 pm : link
"One of the smartest basketball players I've ever been around, always in the gym." You can tell the team was thrilled for Kornet. Even heard some "Luuuuuke" chants from the fans.
Thanks BC

I want to see how the rest of this year plays out and see who develops. Then we can worry about free agency. Mudiay was if I remember a #3 pick. Nights like tonight leads us to believe hes part of the solution here, not just a stop gap. I can see him and Frank forming an interesting back court.
really have to get rid of hardaway
nygiants16 : 12/14/2018 9:57 pm : link
He needs to learn to let the game come to him, he forces to many shots, in the 4th he didnt force and let mudiay go to qork, he should of done the same thing in the 1st with knox...

Kanter needs to go, ive never seen a more selfish player and i had to laugh everytime zeller scored on him he screamed like he actually played good defense
I love how pissed Kanter gets
bceagle05 : 12/14/2018 9:59 pm : link
when Vonleh beats him to a rebound. They're both trying to pad those rebounding stats.

The Washington Wizards are nearing a deal to acquire Phoenix Suns forward Trevor Ariza, according to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Per the report, the teams are attempting to finalize a a mult-team trade tonight.

Ariza had been linked to the Los Angeles Lakers this week, but the sides had not come close to a trade as of Friday morning.

Ariza, 33, signed a one-year deal in free agency in July. He is not eligible to be traded until after midnight.

I was never a Ntilikina fan. The kid can't shoot and he shows little ability to break down a defender and drive to the basket. As a playmaker, I rarely see him hit the open man. His claim to fame is long arms and a good defender. Fair enough, but you can't play guard if you can't score and you also can't assist.

Deal's suddenly in peril. Memphis and Phoenix didn't communicate directly on trade, using Washington as a conduit in coordinating the 3-team deal, sources tell @ZachLowe_NBA and me. Grizzlies believe they were trading MarShon, but somehow Suns believed it was Dillon.

How do you give up 72 points in the first half
Peter from NH (formerly CT) : 12/15/2018 9:50 am : link
and then hold them to 41 in the second half?

The defense was just lackadaisical in the first half. Inferior talent teams have to play tough defense. This team seems to have a real problem with the 1st/2nd quarter of games.

Its because they are the youngest team in the nba coupled with the fact that they arent any good. They have a bunch of guys playing hard and thats about it. They are enjoyable to watch but you arent getting a consistent effort out of this kind of team.
With both Kanter and Hardaway starting
Dave on the UWS : 12/15/2018 11:16 am : link
The defensive effort and execution stinks and they are not very functional on offense. Theyd a big part of the problem
I think Mudiay would benefit
Dave on the UWS : 12/15/2018 11:23 am : link
From playing next to a defensive player like Ntilikina. And they are about the same size so that gives some flexibility in the evolving era of positionless basketball.
Seems like the Knicks have accepted that Kanter sucks.
bceagle05 : 12/15/2018 11:52 am : link
Not sure they'll dump him, but Mitch and Luke's should steal more minutes. Now we just need Mills, Perry and Fizdale to find religion on just how bad Timmy is.
teams jist attack kanter on pick and roll
nygiants16 : 12/15/2018 12:01 pm : link

Kanter
GMEN46 : 12/15/2018 12:07 pm : link
He is untradable unless knicks are going to package him to trade for a star, which they will not do. I really think they should buy him out in Feb during buyout season. It is going to be impossible to trade him.

Yes

Del Shofner : 12/15/2018 1:03 pm : link
I checked the score midway through, saw they were getting crushed and didn't bother turning it on when I got home. Didn't know they won until I read the Post on my phone over coffee this morning. What great games from Mudiay and Kornet. Be nice if they both keep it up.

Not that it matters much, but they're pretty short-handed for tomorrow's game at Indiana, what with all the minor injuries.
Hardaway MIGHT be a good 6th man
Dave on the UWS : 12/15/2018 1:23 pm : link
Problem is hes a volume scorer and needs to put up a lot of shots. You generally dont win with volume scorers. What I want to see from Fizdale is gradually reduce Kanter and Hardaways minites and importance and move forward for the future. Personally I want to see Mudiay, Ntilikina and Trier get the minutes (throw Burke in there when he is healthy.). Knox seems to have settled in as a starter, Vonleh starts until KP returns. I would rather see Robinson or Kornet start at the 5 with Kanter coming off the bench.
The teams that had vonleh are morons
nygiants16 : 12/15/2018 1:27 pm : link
they were talking last night about charlotte drafting him and he basically said teams he went to jjst told him do not shoot just rebound..

He said Knicks and Fizdale first team to allow him to try and score and bring the ball up and be more than jjst a rebounder

I think Hardaway can be good, but he's just miscast right now as the teams primary scorer. He needs to be the 3rd or 4th option and not the focal point of the offense. Right now too much of the scoring burden is placed on him so he dominates the ball and chucks up a lot of bad shots, if you put him next to Porzingis and another scorer (maybe that guy is Knox in another year) I think he will play a lot more under control.

The other thing that he really needs to work on is his engagement on the defensive end. I don't know if it is due to being so focused on being THE guy offensively, but it looks like he just doesn't even give a shit on D right now. I am hoping that if he is relegated to being the third option then you will see more energy from him on defense.
Thats possible but
Dave on the UWS : 12/15/2018 2:32 pm : link
he has never been a good effort guy on the defensive end

TyreeHelmet : 12/15/2018 2:39 pm : link
Great win last year. Im really loving this young team. Fizdale can really coach. Throwing out that 2-3 zone was a fantastic move. Night and day between Fiz and Hornacek/ Rambis/ Fisher.
So Mudiay is a must sign now? What kind of a deal are we talking?
Jim in Hoboken : 12/15/2018 4:54 pm : link
Hardaway is what he is, he serves no purpose now or in the future. We can rationalize his contract any way we want, but thats a hard contract to move for a reason.

For Mudiay
nygiants16 : 12/15/2018 9:48 pm : link
I would like him to be more agressive at the start of games and i am not talking just shooting, get into the lane and create open shots for others...

I hate how the offense runs through Kanter and tim in the beginning of games...Kanter takes shots with 3 guys surrounding him
16- you would have to think
Dave on the UWS : 12/15/2018 10:14 pm : link
that Fizdale sees whats going on with Kanter and Hardaway in the 1st qtrs of game after game after game. It should be clearly evident to management that these two are NOT part of the solution here. Moving them, reducing their minutes- whatever is the way to go.

it is both sides, not just offensively, defensively kanter can not guard pick and rolls, he can not move fast enough to co test the ball handler
